The lids appear to be rust proof (not metal?) and the wire bails you hang them from are coated so I expect they will look good for a long time. They are replacing similar mason jar solar lights around the perimeter of my deck. A couple of those old ones stopped working, but they were several years old and I'm impressed they keep going, night after night all year long. They look very nice to others in the neighborhood (we live on a pond) and give enough light to walk safely, but are not blinding - we can enjoy stargazing. One tip is to unravel them (carefully-the wire is fragile) to spread the lights inside the jar (they come new, twisted in a figure 8)

Perfect summertime ambience! Charge the tops of the jars and then you've got these beautiful warm light jars of glowing enchantment. They're super easy to set up, you can hang them from tree branches, or fences, or put them on tables or along paths to light the way. They are utterly charming. The sun is their battery, so as long as you put them away for the rainy/snowy season and keep them reasonably clean when outside, they'll last a long time and work great.

Got these as I had been given a couple of homemade ones years ago & fell in love w/design. These are replacing a black plastic version of hanging solar lanterns purchased several years ago. These are much brighter given the open clear jar design & give off more light r/t so many LED's & clear reflective surface area. They're also heavier so they don't whip around & break in the wind as several of the plastic ones did. They power up even on cloudy & partial sun days, then shine as soon as light gets dim until the light returns at sunrise. Enough light given off to see when walking the entire driveway & backyard. I've placed a string of them 3-4 feet apart rimming our driveway & edge of the backyard lawn. They are just what I was looking for. I would definitely buy these again. Great price & of excellent quality, fast & secure product shipping, plus everyone that sees them mentions how pretty they look. Hope this helps everyone.

These are bright and work well. They don't twinkle but the lights stays on steadily. i bought the package of 6 and one didn't work due to one of the wires not being soldered. 5 work well and one is a dud.

****These light up when it’s dark outside.**** These lights are really cute. The shipping was a little off for us. It took over a week longer than expected but I think the box was damaged and had to be repackaged. We found some garden hangers and needed hanging lights! These look whimsical. I would like to buy more but I probably won’t just because of the shipping issue and we’re going into winter. I’ll see how they hold up. “Installation” was easy. You remove plastic from the solar cover and untwist the LED string and screw the cap back on. I added a note to the top that they turn off when it’s bright and turn on when it’s dark. If yours don’t work, check that they’re on, charged with sunlight and it’s dark.

These are the best solar lights ever! After five years of hanging them throughout our yard, they still charge and provide a nice fairy-light glow. No other decorative solar lights we've purchased have ever lasted this long. When we get snow or torrential rain, a few of them get water in the jars only along the bottom - more condensation than actual water. They are getting older, so the solar panels are a bit faded. We just use a scrubby to refresh the tops. We hang them by shepherd hooks in our gardens. They make the yard so magical!

I know we sadly live in a society where every product is designed to die quickly to force us to buy more, but I was a little disappointed that two of the six lights stopped working after 9 months. But I like the design, and the solar element works well to detect when to turn on. The components are just not good enough to stand up to built up condensation. And I wrapped each jar rim in plumbers tape to help with any leaks on day one. I don't think I will buy again once the other four die.
