    • Solid, but update your microcode through BIOS!
I purchased this in late July 2024, shortly before the August 0x129 microcode update band-aid fixed the notorious voltage spike issues that were occurring with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs. Ever since updating to 0x12B (September update), I have found that I still need to set a VCore limit. But that's the only change I've had to make instead of all the various curvature and threshold adjustments prior to Intel's releases to fix this heinous problem. That said, the motherboard's BIOS UI allowed me to do this without much difficulty. If you inform yourself, through videos (find ones dated September 2024 or later - these have the latest "fix" microcode updates for the voltage problem) discussion board posts, or chat groups. The performance has been nothing short of expected. I upgraded from a DDR3 system with 1440K to now a DDR5 with 14700K. The only issues with instability were from my keeping some severe undervolting settings AFTER a microcode update. After realizing this and loosening the restrictions, I have been met with a consistently smooth performance and regulated voltage even with various processing demands I have thrown at this machine. It is December 2024 and I'm satisfied with my purchase although I was cautious about my decision to stick with Intel through this generation. I will still be monitoring the performance and hopefully I am not giving a 12 month edit of "well it's fried" through my phone, but we'll see. Also I am a big fan of the m.2 slots having the EZ-Latch system! My old board required screws. I missed a whole generation of board design so all of these convenience and thermal improvements have impressed me. ... show more

This is one of the finest Z790 motherboards at a reasonable price for the end of 2023. It's build like a tank and it's so easy to work with. Beyond that it just looks great and that's how it performs as well.

    • Excellent motherboard I have two of them
For the price of this board and the quality you won't find a better motherboard. I bought one used on Amazon and it didn't work so I ended up getting a new one and it works amazing which turned me again to another used one and this one worked really well so I have two of these motherboards and they are for their price some of the best. It's been hit or miss with Amazon's used motherboards I don't think whoever sells these goes through them and see if they really work when they come back as a return I'm at 50%. I have another one that's supposed to arrive today and one that's going on the way back those are gigabyte Master X the first one does something weird with the M2 Gen 5 which is why I bought it and then there's something wrong with the Internet when you load a system when it goes to reboot back into Windows to rerun your system it doesn't reboot and you can't load your system so you have to side loaded disc to get the board to work. That one's going back and I'll let you know what the second board is like I figured it's worth a try. Because of the problems on the higher end boards with gigabyte I got a MSI coming and we will see how that works I will let you know on the quality of some of the used stuff I've been getting.     • Mobo DOA Do not buy
Purchased this board for use in a brand new system, running a i9-13900KS with 420MM AIO, 64Gb 6000Mhz CAS 34, and a 7900 XTX. Built entire PC and went to tidy everything up and turned it on aaaannndddd no display. Fans spin and GPU lights come on but no display. Cue 8 hours of troubleshooting later, including reseating CPU, changing ram placement, using one stick, using two sticks, using iGPU, uninstalling m.2, unplugging all IO besides the power button, attempted to using Q Flash to update BIOS. Q Flash is unresponsive, never flashes or signifies it’s being activated whatsoever. Clear CMOS didn’t help. I removed CMOS battery and also didn’t fix it. Entire time I’m troubleshooting this the DRAM and CPU indicators are alternating flashing yellow, and there’s no display being output at all. Truly, I INSIST anyone wanting to purchase this motherboard to take some time to google “Gigabyte Z790 Yellow DRAM” and you’ll find posts all over Reddit and other forums explaining this same exact issue. Customer buys Gigabyte mobo, builds PC without faults, MOBO is unresponsive and hangs in an alternating yellow indicator light between CPU and DRAM, never reaching bios because it can’t output a signal, customer eventually gives up and buys a from a different manufacturer. I bought this mobo for the extensive IO, the quality VRM’s (for the 13900KS), and because it was a good price for an E-ATX motherboard. I would NOT recommend buying this motherboard at all. If you want to buy it for IO, get a mobo from a competent manufacturer and install a pcie expansion slot. Also worth noting, the ram I’m using is verified to be compatible with this motherboard, the PSU is SuperFlower 1200W Platinum. ... show more

You cannot beat the Master series for price and features you get. Board is a great overclocker and having 5 m.2 slots is great. Solid board for all you get for the price.     • Nice quality board
At first I was going to immediately return it because it looked open box. I forget that the manufacturer doesn’t seal the box. Also remember the case is what has screws; this is just the board and a QR code for instructions and some stickers and a piece of scotch tape to seal the bag. Make sure to read the layout of the chipset so you know what shares lanes with the pcie if your not paying attention you’ll be running 8x instead of 16x on the gpu slot. This thing is built like a tank with the back and top plates. The uefi is a lot better than my asus rog hero. So far really happy with it. ... show more
