I cannot sleep on a typical memory foam mattress. They're hot and I don't like sinking into them. That said, I decided to go ahead and give this topper a try since my in-laws have a Ghost Bed Mattress and it seemed comfortable. I've had it for about two months, which I think gives it a fair try. First, we left it on the living room floor overnight. By morning it was fully extended. If you measure to the top of the patterns, it's 3". If you measure just the solid foam, it's not. The smell wasn't too bad on the foam but the cover smelled so I washed it. That helped but I let it air out all morning before I made the bed. There was just a slight smell after the sheets were on and that disappeared after about two days. The cover is great. It completely covers the topper and my quite thick mattress with no problem. The elastic is thick and keeps the topper in place. I have been sleeping so much better. The support is great and I don't wake up with back and hip pain. I do get hot but no hotter than I did without the topper. I do not sink down into it like I would on a regular memory foam mattress. Overall, it's very comfortable. Now to why I deducted a star. The cover is made of material that is slippery and my fitted sheet is all over the place during the night. My sheets have a large enough pocket and go under the mattress, but they still slip up on the sides and sometimes on the corners and it drives me nuts. I like my sheets to be smooth and not moving around on the mattress. To me that's worth deducting a star. If that wouldn't bother you, then just ignore my comment. So, overall, I'm pretty happy with this topper. Whether it will hold up is another matter, which reminds me of another point. If you have body indentatons in your mattress, you will surely eventually have them in the topper because of the empty space beneath the topper in those areas. The topper will obviously sink down to fill that space. I'm thinking about filling those indentations with foam to prevent that but I don't know if that will work. It's a thought. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: My daughter purchased the topper for my Granddaughter. She has heard me complain over time about not getting a goodnight sleep so I figured if it's good enough for my granddaughter, why not give it a try. My first night sleep was the best I've had in quite awhile. Highly recommend. Plus had great customer service. Received the wrong size the first time and they were very helpful getting the right size out to me with no issues. I have had this product for well over 5.5 months. I purchased this mattress topper with the hopes of a better, cooler sleep. Unfortunately, this topper did not live up to its expectations. In fact, I feel like I slept hotter than normal. I am a nurse and suffer from back pain, although this mattress topper did not make my pain any worse, I would wake up sometimes in the middle of the night with cramping and severe discomfort. Was hesitant on buying this as I have owned and gladly replaced a memory foam bed years ago, but I kept reading “cooling”. Optimistic that technology had advanced enough to solve the heat issue I ordered it. Read a lot of complaints about smell, and while it has one it is very mild and was almost gone after airing it out and laying flat for a day as directed. Also, I washed the cover before putting it on. It’s soft and I find that bit comfortable, but I woke up several times so hot that I had to move to another spot. Only had one night so far, so I don’t know how it will hold up long term, but having issues getting past the heat. ... show more

Needed this for hip and shoulder pain while sleeping on side. This topper really helped for that. However, the fabric protector that came with this topper was nearly impossible to put over the topper. The fit was soooo tight that it took two of us over 35 minutes to pull and tug and stretch it to fit. Not sure what I will do when it needs to be laundered. ... show more
