This ghd Speed Ionic Hair Dryer is one of the first blow dryers I've ever used that can actually dry my very thick, curly hair quickly, and that alone makes it remarkable! To put that in context, my hair is so porous and prone to soaking up water that it can take about half a day to air dry. Most dryers barely make a dent in reasonable time. This one powers through it fast, which has been a revelation for someone used to lengthy drying sessions. I’ve had really good results with other good hair day (GHD) hair tools but am still surprised by how powerful this is. Speaking of other hair tools, it is heavier than other dryers I've used, but not unwieldy, and I think that's a fair trade given how much faster it is. I’d also say it’s about the same noise level as a standard blow dryer maybe a little quieter since the bulk prevents noise transfer. Honestly, the extra heft is easy to forgive when it cuts my drying time down so dramatically. The metallic white color looks sleek and modern enough for me to leave it on my counter. The concentrator attachment does a fantastic job of helping straighten hair while I blow dry, giving real smoothing power in the process. I also love how convenient the magnetic attachment is. It fits perfectly and securely, snapping into place without any fumbling and staying put while when I’m blow drying. My only small quibble is about what's in the box. At this price point, the other attachments should really be included. As a curly-haired woman, I especially miss having a diffuser, which I'd expect from other luxury brands or even mid-range dryers. Having to buy that separately stings a bit when you're asked to invested this much in the dryer itself. That gripe aside, this is a truly powerful, well-designed dryer that finally makes drying thick, curly hair fast and manageable. If you've struggled to find something with enough power for difficult hair, this is well worth a look, just be prepared to pick up the diffuser on your own if you have curly hair!

I have to admit, I love owning lots of hair tools and I love having different options for styling my hair. I already own a ghd flat iron and I absolutely love it so I was really excited when I saw that they had come out with a new hair dryer. I wash my hair everyday but I have a decent amount of hair and it can take quite awhile to dry it. I feel like it's totally worth the investment to spend a little extra money and get tools that will make styling easier and faster and with this being a "speed Ionic" dryer, it sounded like it would be worth trying. First of all, I love the different speed and temperature options that this offers! There are four different speeds and four different temperatures that can be toggled to fit one's preference and I'm impressed by just how much wind this creates but also by it's ability to get quite a bit hotter than my previous hair dryer. It truly has shortened the amount of time necessary to completely blow dry my hair but it doesn't feel like it's overheating or frying my hair. I appreciate that this has a cool shot button and it's also really nice that it has a "lock" switch that can be engaged to essentially lock in the temperature and speed settings so that every time you use the dryer you can automatically keep the settings consistent with those used previously. The dryer also conveniently comes with a concentrator nozzle but I'm pretty sure that I also saw that other attachments are available for purchase separately if desired. I love everything about this dryer except for one thing: the weight. It's not super heavy but it definitely weighs more the last couple of hair dryers that I've owned and I can't help but wish that the brand had been able to make this model just a little bit lighter. That certainly isn't going to deter me from using it, though, because I feel like the performance is fabulous and I love the options and the overall ease of use. If you're looking for a new hair dryer that really does speed up the overall blow dry time, this is definitely one to look at.

I’ve always loved GHD as a brand! So I had a feeling I’d like the Speed Ionic Hair Dryer. I’ve owned enough styling tools to know GHD makes products that are worth the investment. I have fairly thick hair that usually takes forever to dry, so drying it has always been the part of my routine that I procrastinate the most. There have been SO many nights that I’ve wanted to wash my hair but looked at the time and thought, “Nope… I’ll deal with that tomorrow.” 😂 If you have thick hair, you know exactly what I mean. The first time I used this, I remember finishing and thinking, “Wait… that’s it?!” I had to look at the time on my phone because there was no way I could be done already! It dried my hair SO much faster than my old dryer. I actually chuckled to myself because I kept reaching back to make sure the underneath was dry. That’s usually the area that’s still damp, but everything was dry! The best past was that my hair didn’t look fluffy or like I had just blasted it with hot air (even though I had 😉). After blow drying my hair I usually still have frizz, flyaways, and other random pieces that refuse to cooperate. So I have to spend extra time smoothing everything down with a flat iron. This time I just brushed my hair and when I looked in the mirror I thought “I can just leave it like this.” That never happens!! ✨ What I Loved: ✔ Dries hair dramatically faster ✔ Powerful airflow without feeling like it’s scorching my hair ✔ Multiple heat and speed settings ✔ Lightweight enough that my arm doesn’t get tired ✔ Comfortable ergonomic design ✔ Hair looks shinier and feels healthier ✔ Premium quality that feels built to last ✔ Leaves hair smooth and less frizzy I like that it doesn’t feel like it’s blasting extremely hot air at my head. The airflow is powerful but controlled, so my hair isn’t getting whipped around in every direction while I’m trying to style it. It made using a round brush so much easier! Another plus is it isn’t overly loud or awkward to hold. It has a really balanced weight so my arm doesn’t get tired halfway through (which has definitely happened with other dryers 🙃). After using it for a few weeks my hair seems to stay smoother and in place longer. By the end of the day I usually have flyaways everywhere (especially if there’s humidity) but my hair still looks great when I get home! The biggest compliment I can give it is that since using it, my hair looks and feels healthier. It even has more movement and shine. I’ve loved GHD for a long time because their products make doing my hair easier and this dryer is another reason why I keep coming back to the brand. It has honestly made wash days so much easier, and I never thought I’d be someone who actually looked forward to blow drying my hair… but here we are 😂 If you’re on the fence about spending a little more on a quality dryer, I truly think this is worth every penny!

the speed is good, the balance is off. its heavy and it doesn't come with the attachments it shows in picture slides which it should for the price. It only comes with 1 direct airflow attachment. I've definitely purchased more for less with my past blowdryers. I emailed ghd and they simply ignored my email like it didn't matter. They do not care.

I’ve been using GHD flat irons for well over two decades, and to me they’re the gold standard. I recently added the Chronos Curling Iron to my collection and absolutely love it, so I had incredibly high expectations for the GHD Speed hair dryer. I genuinely wanted this to become my new everyday dryer. Unfortunately, after spending time with it, I just can’t get there. To start with the positives, this is unquestionably a premium tool. The airflow is strong and feels like what you’d expect from a professional salon dryer. It dries my hair quickly, the heat settings are well controlled, the cool shot works well, and I really like that it remembers your previous settings so you don’t have to reset everything every time you turn it on. The lock function is another smart feature because it prevents accidentally changing your settings during use. The overall construction feels extremely solid and expensive, and I honestly think it’s one of the nicest-looking hair dryers on the market. The problem for me is the ergonomics. This dryer weighs just over 2 pounds, and while that may not sound like much on paper, it’s very noticeable in your hand. For comparison, it’s roughly a pound heavier than Dyson-style dryers and about half a pound heavier than my older professional Elchim dryer. Weight matters when you’re holding a dryer above shoulder level, especially if you’re styling instead of simply rough drying. It’s also physically larger than I expected, and the weight distribution never felt quite right to me. With today’s motor technology, I was hoping for something more compact and better balanced. I also found the button placement frustrating. Unless you engage the lock feature, it’s very easy for your fingers to brush against the controls and unintentionally change your airflow or temperature settings while you’re drying. The lock solves the problem, but it also means you have to remember to activate it every single time. For reference, I have a short bob with very fine hair. Starting with towel-dried hair, this dryer took just under three minutes to completely dry my hair. That’s certainly fast, but it’s essentially identical to my inexpensive Dyson-style dryer. My older Elchim actually dries my hair in closer to two minutes, although it lacks the sophisticated heat management of the GHD and is undoubtedly harsher on the hair. Interestingly, the day this arrived my hairstylist happened to be at my house cutting my hair, so I handed it to her to try. She immediately commented on how nice the airflow was and agreed the dryer feels very high quality. However, she also said she wouldn’t purchase it for professional salon use because of the weight. Without me mentioning anything beforehand, she also brought up the button placement and how easy it is to accidentally press them during use. That mirrored my own experience almost exactly. For someone with thicker, longer hair who values premium construction and doesn’t mind a heavier tool, this may still be an excellent choice. But if you have fine hair like mine, or you simply prefer lighter, more maneuverable dryers, I think it’s worth considering that there are alternatives that perform just as well while being significantly easier to handle. Ultimately, my issue isn’t the price. I have no problem spending over $400 on a hair tool if it clearly outperforms the competition. For me, this one doesn’t. It’s a beautifully made dryer with excellent technology, but when a dryer that costs a fraction of the price delivers nearly identical drying performance while being lighter and more comfortable to use, I just don’t see the value. As much as I wanted this to become my new favorite GHD product, I honestly don’t see myself reaching for it very often. Excellent engineering and quality, but the weight, size, and ergonomics ultimately outweighed the benefits for my personal use.

This is a powerful hair dryer and moves a lot of air without needing to hold it over the same section of hair forever. It makes drying quicker, which is exactly what I would expect from a higher-end dryer. The controls are easy to use, and I like being able to adjust the heat and airflow instead of just blasting hair with the hottest setting. It also feels substantial and well made compared with cheaper hair dryers I've used. My biggest issue is the price. It's expensive for someone who only occasionally dries their hair at home. I think the price makes a lot more sense for a stylist who's using a hair dryer throughout the day and can really benefit from the speed and control. I can't personally verify a claim like "no heat damage," but I can say it's powerful, fast, and gives you good control over the heat and airflow. This is one I'd especially recommend for a professional stylist.

This truly dries hair quickly. I have naturally straight waist length medium thin hair (but not a lot of it). This dryer dried my hair in less than 10 minutes, probably closer to 5, on the hottest temp and highest fan setting. Impressive!!!! It is really powerful and does a great job even on the lower settings. You can use the cool shot setting to set your style and I appreciate that it went from hot to cool very quickly. There are multiple heat and fan settings you can adjust and it comes with one attachment. I feel like at this price point it should have come with more attachments, like a diffuser. It's cool that they magnetically attach though! The design is beautiful and futuristic. The cord is a 360 swivel and the length of the cord is pretty decent. The biggest downside is the weight. It's pretty heavy. I have repetitive stress injuries in both arms and it's almost too much for me to hold if not for not having to hold it super long due to the very fast dry time. But I could see it being problematic for a professional who uses it all day with clients or for someone who has thicker/longer hair. I think this does a great job and is built to last, but I'm bummed it's heavy and doesn't have more attachments. I could see if being a good investment for a hair stylist or someone who wants to save time if your arms can handle the weight.
