Original Review: I have had this hair dryer for about six months and it has started to make a high pitched noise and shuts off. This is extremely disappointing for such a hyped up dryer. I have my old 7 year old dryer I will have to go back to. I have never dropped this dryer and keep it on a stand in my bathroom. I will see if the manufacturer can help. Edit: Well, whatever mechanical issues the hair dryer had are now gone! I don’t know if something had jostled lose inside or if it was just a bad bearing, but one day it just started working again without notice. No complaints here! It’s a very nice hairdryer, and I like the different hair attachments. They snap on magnetically and are designed for different hair types. I use the curly hair attachment and my daughter uses the straightener attachment to help straighten her curly hair. ... show more

I am like many others, I see the price and go "Good god, that much for a dryer? No way the price is worth it." I am so sad to report it is, in fact, worth the price. - You can notice the difference immediately upon first use. My hair is dense, thick, wavy hair. Most hair dryers I have tried over the years, take at least 10-20 minutes when drying right out the shower. I also tend to start sweating, as I have to take a longer time thus heating up my scalp. - The dyson dried my hair out the shower in 5 MINUTES. Yes 5 MINUTES. I was stunned. The heat settings are well programmed, as the medium and low settings do not overheat the scalp over a period of time. The cold button was fast and responsive. - I was skeptical of its design, with the open blower, but it works perfect. In fact, I like the longer handle, as I can more easily get to the back of my head. The weight is perfect, just heavy enough and just light enough to not strain the hand. - The attachments are also excellent. The fast drying attachment does exactly as it says, so does the fly away attachment. Now I have just one con: - It does not come with a travel bag. For being expensive as it is, its silly it does not come with a travel bag. Despite my initial scoffing at the price, I can confidently say this is absolutely worth the price. I will warn, the supersonic is similar to a basic hair dryer. If you want to do curling, straightening, etc, you need to get the other dyson hair dryer. For me, the basics is all I need, but if I decide to style my hair more, I would definitely consider getting the other dyson dryer. ... show more

Used two times and it left my hair looking shiny. Dried quickly and it was quieter than my old hair dryer. Note: Used on the Carnival Dream and it blew the room fuse twice. Apparently too much power for the cruise ship. Was forced to use the room hair dryer

    • Don’t buy. Very poor customer service.

I would strongly advise against buying a Dyson hairdryer. Mine worked fine for about the first year and a half, but then it suddenly stopped working altogether. After going back and forth with Dyson customer service, I sent the unit in for repair. They ultimately couldn’t fix it and ended up sending me a completely different hairdryer instead. The bigger issue was that Dyson refused to restart or extend the warranty on the replacement unit, even though it was essentially a replacement for a failed product. That left me with very little confidence in the long-term reliability of what is supposed to be a premium product. On top of that, dealing with customer service was frustrating and not a great experience overall. For the amount of money Dyson charges, I expected significantly better support and durability. If I could do it over again, I would skip Dyson entirely and go with a competitor like a Shark hairdryer instead. It seems like a much better investment of both time and money. ... show more

There are many great hair dryers. For my family, TIME is the issue. Who has the time to sit around drying your hair?? We want a dryer that works fast so we can get to what we need to do. Although very expensive, this is the best dryer to get the job done quickly. The rapid flow of air combined with high heat dries more quickly than the other less powerful products. Yes, this is terribly expensive, three or four times the cost of some very fine hair dryers. But if you want the best, and a few minutes of saved time each day means a lot to you, then this is the product for you. Like other Dyson products, this is a well engineered and finely made product, very worthy of a fine set of hair care tools. Also, it is relatively small in size, and more easily stored and dealt with than the other dryers which are much larger. The electrical cord if heavier and shorter than for other driers, but that issue is not a deal breaker, given the other advantages of this fine product. ... show more

Dyson products have never disappointed me yet. They are very pricey yes. And whether it is worth the premium over competing products is very different from one person to the next. Their hair dryer has the strongest motor for this type of form factor hair dryer that I have used. Other “fan-less” dryers severely lack this aspect and often have poor air flow/ pressure. This is by far the best hair dryer!!! Works amazing, doesn’t feel too heavy on the arm and drys hair so well! The variety of attachments makes it a great all in 1 tool. I use it to rough dry my clients, do blow outs and diffuse my curly hair clients as well.

I was nervous to buy this hairdryer because of its high cost, but after using it for a couple months I have pros and cons of this hairdryer (mostly pros). This hairdryer is great! Compared to other hairdryers, the sound is smoother and not annoying. The hairdryer has some weight to it showing it is made of a great durable material. The hairdryer dries hair at a decent rate on normal mode. I like how you can change the airflow level and the temperature level and that there is a cool button. I have very thick long hair. Drying it on the lowest setting or the coolest setting has me drying my hair for like 15 minutes or more to have it somewhat dry. It is better to alternate between modes. There is the cool button but holding on to it sometimes can be annoying based on placement of the button. Nevertheless, the option to control the heat and airflow is a gamechanger. I bought this hairdryer because I wanted to make sure not to damage my hair and its great to be able to switch modes. Just keep in mind different modes may require you to take a longer time. The attachments are nice for styling. The hairdryer does give a more premium drying experience. It is a good investment. ... show more
