Overall, I think this is a really good thermal imaging camera for the money. I've been wanting to buy one for personal use for a while, as I've used them professionally for many years. I was looking for something that didn't need a smartphone, charged with USB-C, and would allow me to save/export photos and this camera seemed to meet those specs nicely. This camera arrived well packed and immediately felt good in the hand. The display is nice and plenty bright, and offers a number of different adjustments and modes. The "hot spot" mode is neat, and will highlight any areas above a pre-specified temperature in red. The thermal camera itself works well and seems to be pretty sensitive, as it will even show footprints from people and pets walking through the floors in the house. While looking through the menus there are a fair number of options, such as settings for automatic power off, temperature alarms, what to show on-screen (min, max, time/date, etc.). The refresh rate of the thermal imager is impressive, most of the ones I've used in the past were slow but at 25Hz, this one shows things as they're happening. There's also a tripod mount, which could come in handy if using it for an extended period of time (like watching for animals while outdoors). Exporting photos off the camera was easy, and they all showed up on my laptop without any issues after connecting the camera with a USB-C cable. My first use of this camera was to find all of the areas in my house that needed additional insulation or air sealing. I found a big uninsulated spot by my front door almost immediately and then went digging everywhere else in the house to see where I can save energy, and it worked very well for doing so. I compared the temperature accuracy to a calibrated probe thermometer and a calibrated IR thermometer, and the results seem to be very consistent when using the appropriate emissivity setting for a material. The battery life is great, and easily survived me walking around the house, crawling through the crawlspace, and crawling through the attic for multiple hours looking for air leaks / hot spots. I was looking for a gift for my Brother-in-Law. He helped us out a ton helping me install a few mini split systems for us. Gotta love Family!! He is one of those guys who seemed to have everything he wanted/needed for work, he is an HVAC tech. To my surprise he did not have one of these and did it old school with digital thermometers. Of course after I ordered it I had to play around with it and see if it was a good purchase. Boy was I surprised for the price. This is not designed for distance but up close and personal it works great, I would say 10 feet max. Display is crystal clear and you can change between Fahrenheit and Celsius, it also has 3 Image Modes And 6 Color Palettes. The weight is very light but at the same time seems durable. The product literature state a temp range of -4°F to 1022°F which is pretty impressive. This is a very versatile tool and personally I believe I made a good choice after playing around with it and really look forward to giving it to him for his Birthday. ... show more

I bought this thermal camera mainly to help find a water leak, and it worked really well for that purpose. The thermal imaging made it easy to spot temperature differences and narrow down the exact area where the leak was coming from. The image is clear, the device is easy to use, and it’s a very useful tool for home inspections. I’ve been really impressed with this thermal imaging camera so far. The 240×240 resolution provides a clear thermal image, and the fusion imaging feature makes it much easier to identify exactly where the temperature difference is coming from. The 2MP visual camera is also helpful for getting a better idea of what you’re looking at. The 25Hz refresh rate makes the image smooth when moving the camera around, and the handheld design is convenient for checking electrical connections, HVAC systems, insulation, pipes, and other areas around the house. The alarm feature is a nice bonus when you’re looking for unusually hot or cold spots. Overall, this is a very useful tool for DIY home inspections and troubleshooting. I'm that person who complains the oven runs hot and is uneven. Bought this to prove it and check other theories around the house. Turned the oven to 400, let it soak, then scanned the inside door with Fusion mode so I could see the actual rack outline over the heat. This mode is awesome compared to other thermal cameras, so you can actually see an outline rather than a blob. Left side was running almost 30 degrees cooler, right rear was the hot spot. That explains the wives cookies/ uneven cooking. Then I checked the burners, you can literally watch the flame pattern in Iron Red, one burner was way uneven. Used the emissivity setting for stainless vs cast iron. The 25Hz refresh is really nice, since it doesn't lag between pointing at different objects or whole house walkthroughs. The temp reading range Is overkill for a kitchen, but I love having real numbers instead of guessing. Solid build, feels good in hand, 8 hours run time is plenty. Time for a new oven. ... show more

Eh. It was ok. For the price its decent. Good screen anyways. After comparing to hf96v, its slow and choppy. Color imaging is decent at best. Its only 50mk as well. For $130 on sale, decent. For $189, no. Honestly, just get the hf96v over this anyday. But I had to go up one and get the f2vw instead for more image clarity. But the hf96v is definitely the best thermal camera on the market under $200. ... show more
