The biggest problem I've had with other home espresso machines is that they just don't froth the milk properly. Not with this machine! I made 3 cappuccinos in a period of 8 hours - one with regular fresh ground beans in a grinder set to "fine (espresso) grind" and 2 with decaf that I measured and passed through the grinder to get the espresso size grind of coffee. For frothing fill the milk jug to about halfway and then lower the steam wand to a depth of 2-3 cm (it would have been nice if they had marked the 3cm line on the wand itself but I discovered that 3cm is basically almost halfway up the frothing tube), hold the base of jug on the palm of your left hand and the handle with your right hand, slightly angle it to the right and position the steam wand off-center and closer to the left wall of the jug & turn on the steam dial and hey presto: you can see the milk rotating and thickening and a layer of small bubbles forming, rising up the wall of the milk jug, resulting in the perfect froth! It works EVERY time!!!! You can tell when the milk has reached the right temperature because your left hand underneath the jug will get hot. With a bit of practice you will be able to adjust the thickness of the froth to your own personal liking for both lattes and cappuccinos, and you will be glad you didn't spend over $1000 for a fully automatic machine. This semi-automatic machine really is THAT good, and I've been making cappuccinos for over 25 years. WOW (I call it "semi automatic" because you still have to froth the milk yourself whereas true automatic machines do that for you). Unlike so many other machines the accompanying manual actually makes it very easy to understand how to use every function of the machine, including how to froth with easy, step by step instructions! Simply put, the BEST home espresso/cappuccino/latte system I have EVER used! One extra note: I use whole milk because the fat content in the milk makes it easier to froth than 2%,1% or fat free milk.

The product arrived extremely well packaged and exactly as specified. Since receiving it, it has performed just as expected. The espresso it produces has a wonderful aroma and tastes delicious. It is also easy to use when following the instructions in the manual. However, the tamper included with the product is not of very high quality. While it can serve its purpose, it would be much better if it had the correct dimensions, as its diameter is smaller than the filter.

Nice little espresso maker. I had a Breville BES870XL machine. Had to give it up. My son is now enjoying it. Been drinking espresso since I was 18yrs old, now I'm 55, so I've had a few years of experience, one could say. Giving this one 4 stars for the plastic insert in the portafilter, where the hot espresso passes through in direct contact with plastic. We try to avoid this. It does slightly affect the taste as the plastic releases micro amounts of organic chemicals contained within. Such as benzene and toluene based chemicals. There was no way to tell the portafilter contained plastic. bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates (like DEHP), flame retardants, vinyl chloride (in PVC), nonylphenol, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), certain UV stabilizers, and various metals and metalloids However, it does make a decent espresso with a good amount of crema. The frothing wand works well. I must recommend trying your favorite medium roast coffee to make an espresso. I use Death Wish coffee for this purpose and it makes a superb espresso, cap or latte. It is hardly bitter at all. Drinking some espresso by itself is so easy with this stuff, not bitter, smooth clean taste w/ a thick crema. This machine will do it. Try some Death Wish whole bean medium roast, you won't be disappointed. Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Death Wish Coffee. Only a loyal customer. It's the best. Many espresso roast coffees are roasted at high temps to a very dark color, burning the beans and they then develop a high level of bitterness, and a burnt flavor. Go read about Death Wish's low temp roasting process. Good flavor, destroys less caffeine, so it is actually has 2X the caffeine of regular coffee, naturally. No synthetic caffeine sprayed on your beans to make up for what was lost during the roasting process as many commercial coffee brands do this. Please do not buy a $100 espresso maker and compare it to one that cost $500 or $1000. The Gevi is very good to excellent at this price point. I purchased 2 others at same level and they went back almost immediately. One was not hot enough, one lacked pressure. Both of the returns had terrible foaming. I got the Gevi and all is well. It makes decent espresso, the (new design) wand is great for foam. Everything seems to work. All of these sub big $ espresso machines rely on a tiny orifice in the coffee holder to increase the relative pressure, this results in a somewhat 'thinner' brew (as compared to an expensive/professional machine). The Gevi also uses this technique, but with a good grind (fine) and fresh beans and reasonable expectations it is great. ALSO - I happen to have an inexpensive small Gevi drip machine that has worked great for 3 years! I put coffee and water in, press the button, get hot coffee out. Never a problem, day after day for years.

When I purchased this, I thought it will be fun to use once in a while for special occasions, but I find myself using this every day. It makes espresso quickly and deliciously. The pressure gauge is helpful so you can see what’s going on and the steam froth or works great I actually use less coffee than if I would make a pot of coffee great product. Well-made looks great on the counter.

I did tons of research before buying this. Great price, small footprint, but most of all, GREAT COFFEE AND GREAT FOAMING mechanism. Of course, you need really good espresso roast to make good coffee in the first place. I’ve had this machine over a month now and I’m totally happy with it.
