Description

Chapin's 97664 15-gallon deluxe tow-behind spot sprayer hitches to a standard ATV, UTV or lawn tractor. The 15-gallon rust-resistant tank is durable to tow around and withstands professional-grade landscaping and garden chemicals. It’s easy to fill, clean and service because of the 6-inch-wide tank opening. The 2.5 GPM Chapin pump quick-connects for easy install. You can spray with stretching and reach farther distances with the 19-inch poly wand and 180-inch reinforced PVC hose. You can use your preferred lawn, garden, pest and weed control product because the seals are chemical-resistant. Triple-filtration is standard with a filter basket at the cap, in-tank filter and at the shut-off. A 2-nozzle boom is included. This sprayer is great! It’s easy to use and the materials are high quality. I like that it comes with 2 different types of spray nozzles. There is also a recirculate feature which is great for mixing since well you can’t shake it! The only things I didn’t love were the assembly instructions they are kind of hard to follow but once you get past that it’s a great product. The instructions are a little vague and only show diagrams but I figured it out and it’s a great sprayer. Another thing I really like is it comes with a hitch pin, a lot of competitors are more expensive and they also don’t come with a pin nor tell you what size, so this is super great that it came with a pin. ... show more

I read that this sprayer was extremely difficult to assemble. They were right! Knowing this, I followed instructions as best I could ( very vague instructions) and they were not accurate. And parts don't match. I'm off to the parts store to buy bolts that will fit. If you purchase this sprayer you have my sympathy. ... show more

The sprayer works great! It’s 15 gallon and that’s enough for a couple of acres or possibly more if you have the patience to sit on your mower and drive around spraying. It has a boom with a couple of sprayers on each side and the spray pattern is wide is 8 feet, which is wonderful, it’s easy to use simplistic not difficult instructions self-explanatory to a certain degree just make sure you’re reading the part for the 15 gallon and not the 30 gallon sprayer. I got the sprayer to broadcast herbicides mostly on gravel drives & fences. Works excellent, however needs assembled first. Good quality parts, mostly easy to assemble except some holes didn't line up & had to be redrilled, relocated in order to fit to tank holes which are fixed. Also the guage is poor quality, needle broke in two on first use due to vibrations while spraying. Excellent pressure, more than needed for thin liquids, takes a little experimenting to get good results, learning curve. Much better wand than you get on manual pump sprayer. ... show more

    • Priming is a mission - and good luck getting product support

Once you get the pump primed it works well. HOWEVER, getting the pump primed is an ordeal. Nobody is going to stick a hand into a pool of chemicals to get the pump suction tube out and then rig up a hose to prime the pump. The North-Star system primes quickly with no messing around. I had to put a T-piece in the pump suction line (with a valve) to prime this system without getting chemicals on my hands. Surely this design can be improved. Otherwise, just buy a North-Star system. UPDATE: Some of the screws fell out. The size is not listed in the manual (bolt sizes are). Getting this information is like pulling teeth. ... show more

The product is good if you can assemble it. For the average household this unit is almost impossible to assemble if you're not willing to modify parts essentially if you follow their instructions. Whoever designed this unit did not take into account the tolerances of each part and how those tolerances effect the assembly. The plastic component that holds the wheel axle were supposed to have thru holes to mount it to the bottom of the tank. The hole only went partially down, a little shy of the midpoint on both sides of the parting line of the molded part. This was a mold problem. I drilled the holes in the part. If you follow the instructions given with the unit you will most likely not be able to mount the framework to the tank. You might get individual components that work with your particular assembly but chances are slim. The easiest way to resolve this problem is to change the holes to slots in the framework. Slots will also work in the molded parts but that only works if you know the directions of the interference. The easier resolution is to just make the holes larger to include the maximum tolerance variations of the assembly and add a bigger flat washer to make sure the hole is always covered in any tolerance situation. This whole process took to long so I just drilled new holes and everything went together just fine. Finding a way to assemble the unit with the least amount of drilling took three hours of assembling and disassembling and not following the directions. Because of all the problems other people and myself had Amazon should stop selling this unit until Chapin fixes all the problems with unit. I read all the reviews on this unit which were 1 star reviews because of inability to assemble properly. Chapin got better reviews on smaller sprayers. The unit I purchased was a return item that was advertised as like new in original box, plus some discount on price. Everything was there except 1 hose clamp. The unit is good but not worth the time and money spent. I'm kind of happy with it but Don't buy this unit. ... show more

    • near impossible to assemble due to poor tolerances

Been fighting with this thing for hours trying to get the holes to line up with frame and tank. i had a way to attach a prybar of sorsts, i think the brackets would flex enough for me to get it to work. the holes just simply don’t line up from tank to frame. i replaced the 3/8 bolts in the frame with 1/4 to provide play so i could align it. but its ridiculous. the holes in the frame should be slots and it’d assemble with ease. poor engineering. if you want to fight with assembly-this is the tank for you. ... show more
