Replaced my perfectly good older one for this one and the difference is amazing. I don't think a machine costing 10x the price makes any better espresso. And I know my stove top pots don't. It is small enough that I put it away every day as we like clear counters. We also changed to the OXO burr grinder for both espresso and French press and that made a huge difference.     • NO STEAM - Returned the same day it was delivered
Nice looking machine, but NO STEAM! Right out of the box, I immediately started up using the manual recommended "first use" procedure. The water warmup for a shot was fairly quick and would have been hot enough to make a nice shot of espresso. But when I switched to steam by rotating the knob to the steam position, the steam light just kept blinking. It apparently never warmed up to the temperature required to produce steam - even after I waited 10 minutes. After waiting that long, when I turned the valve to allow steam to come out through the wand, nothing came out - not even water. I returned it the same day and do not recommend buying this off-brand machine. Note: if you do buy it, keep the box and package materials until you are sure you do not have to return it since the Amazon return details say you need to return it in the box. ... show more

We've only had this Gevi 58mm low-cost espresso maker three days and we have made a dozen or so shots. Note, we bought it to learn how to make the "fancy drinks" and my kid doesn't even drink coffee. Luckily, everyone else enjoys coffee. It makes a shot and double shot with the crema. It has different parts for the pre ground vs the just ground coffee. We tried both types on preground, and it makes a difference with the coffee we used for practice (see pictures). This coffee is best with a dash of salt and sugar... We cannot make a decent foam, yet, and hopefully it's because we need to practice, but the steam works on this lovely little machine that's easy to use. ... show more

My second Gevi machine-worth the investment. The head is hard to clean though- grounds get caught around the portafilter and it's quite difficult to clean afterwards. Use espresso grind only to avoid this happening as badly, and run a single cup cycle after cleaning the head off after brewing, and wipe again to assure the grounds are completely gone.     • Setup instructions miss a step
UPDATE - I have realized that there is nothing wrong with my machine - it’s the instructions. In the cleaning/setup instructions, you have to have the dial set to the middle “standby” button, which the BEFORE FIRST USE doesn’t tell you to do. It then tells you to turn the dial directly to steam after water comes out of the dripper. INSTEAD, you need to put the machine back to STANDBY, then when the light is solid again, you can use the steam. We followed the instructions and thought we had a broken machine. Instead, the instructions missed a step! It is now working well. ——————— I purchased this product in July while on sale and gave it as a gift to my wife in August. The steamer did not work out of the box. Everything else seemed to work fine and it is a nice looking unit. We followed the setup instructions and called customer service, who walked us through all their ideas. An hour later he told us to make a warranty claim. To have a new item that doesn’t work out of the box is inexcusable and shows that their QA test measurements need a serious overhaul. I will update once a claim is made. ... show more

Really low quality. Hard, if not impossible, to use it. Air pump sounds like a helicopter (loud). Dishwasher is not allowed. Low quality on materials, plastic and more plastic. For enjoying a coffee you will need to wake up 30 minutes earlier because it's really complicated to be used and cleaned.

I used to give Starbucks lots of money but now I make my own with this. It does take a little used to making a good shot though. The machine is easy to use but there is still skill in making a good shot.
