The media could not be loaded. I picked this unit because it is inexpensive for the features it provides, and also because I do not like MyQ which has history of charging some random fees. After installing this garage door opener I was blown away by how quiet it is compared to my old openers. See the video. I was so amazed, that I replaced the other to openers with this one. The best deal going on amazon for any garage door opener, period! This one has all the bells and whistles. To start its ultra quiet in its operation and it is a whopping 1&1/4 hp. Strong enough to open even the heaviest insulated garage doors. WiFi allows you to open the door from the other side of the country if that were neccessary. When using the phone app the openers lights flash and a beeper sounds to warn any one near by that the door is about to open. Don't worry, this alarm only sounds when the door is opened or closed through WiFi. Also it allows you to monitor it's openings and closings letting you know if and when someone has been in your garage. Battery backup is awsome, especially if you are differently abled and have a power outage. You'll still be able to open the door up to 50 times! WOW! Comes with outside wall keypad for pin code entry by folks you trust and give the pin number to. Comes with two super small and nice looking high quality remotes. And finally an inside the garage lighted wall mounted pad that has a light switch to turn on just the lights and also a lock out switch that disables ALL means of opening the door till its switched back on. A nice feature to provide peace of mind when on vacation. All in all I LOVE this opener and it's a bargain at this price when compared to all other equally equiped and equally powered units. Unfortunately, we were sent a defective unit. After hours with Genie support, it became clear they WOULD NOT stand behind the product and were not going to rectify it. They seemed to blame us and our local conditions for the problems we experienced. I've had an almost 40 year career in electronic engineering... didn't matter. But, WE HAD TWO UNITS EXACTLY THE SAME? One worked perfectly... we installed it, in the same environment? Very disappointed in Genie as a company. We are a return Genie customer, our first two units having served for almost 20 years. So much for brand loyalty. In the end, after much frustration, Amazon took back the defective unit. ... show more

Quick recap of features - very quiet, lots of options (wall control, mobile app, Alexa compatible) all of which work great! Highly recommend this item. We bought this to replace an old (28 years) chain drive genie garage door opener. The reason I include that information is to say that if you already have a genie and some of the parts installed (safety laser, for example), IT IS NOT NECESSARY to install everything from this device (unless you want everything new of course). The instructions overall are good, nicely color coded along with the packages of parts so that you make sure you are installing the right stuff. DON'T open all the bags and mix up the pieces because you will defeat the purpose of the organized instructions. You should be aware that multiple people wrote the instructions, meaning some are easier to follow than others. Trust me - I write procedures for a living. If you are reading some of the negative reviews about how difficult it was to connect wirelessly, or how impossible it is to reach customer service, keep reading! It took us about 8 hours of messing around with the various wireless settings to get this to connect reliably to our home internet. We would get it connected through the app, then after trying to control the door (open or close one time), we got a message saying "unable to determine status," so the back end didn't know whether the door was opened or closed. We had to control through the wall button to close it. Then we would delete the app, reconnect to home internet, and then had the same result. I called Genie customer service first thing on a Monday morning - I was able to get through right away. No waiting on hold for hours as some reviews claim. I spoke to a friendly and helpful person who did as much as she could to help me. I tried her troubleshooting steps (including resetting some of the software on the opener itself using the gray button) with my husband that afternoon, but still couldn't get the connectivity stable. I called customer service back the next day (again, no waiting) and received some additional troubleshooting steps, which were still unsuccessful. I determined that the problem had to be my home internet. THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO READ, SO PAY ATTENTION! We have both a router and a wireless access point. We had the same connectivity issues, whether connected to the router or the WAP. It turns out, BOTH devices needed to have the FIRMWARE upgraded. (If you are unaware, firmware is what makes peripherals run. Sometimes there are new versions released which are necessary to align with related technologies or to fix bugs). Both our router and WAP had new firmware to solve bug fixes which included unexpected connectivity issues. SO after updating the firmware on both devices, I reconnected the Genie garage door opener through the mobile app and VOILA! problem solved. We personally own our router and WAP - so I had to work through the manufacturers website instructions to update the firmware. If you have equipment provided by your ISP, you should call to ask how to upgrade the firmware, then attempt the wireless connection to the Genie before blaming this product and sending it back. I installed a new Genie StealthDrive Connect Model 7155-TKV today. Everything went smooth but they don't provide enough wire. My main reason for purchasing this unit was it's ability to work with Alexa and my previous garage door was a Genie and it lasted for 26 years. I have about 20 smart devices in my house that work on Alexa. All I have to do is say "Alexa, turn on lamp." or Alxa set temperature to 72 degrees." etc.. With Aladdin I have to say "Alexa, ask Aladdin Connect to close Garage door", then it asks me for a password. I tell it my password and it closes the door. By that time could have almost went to the garage and pushed the button. It's my understanding that I can remove the password, which will make it a little simpler but maybe it's just me and I'll get used to it but I find "Alexa, ask Aladdin Connect" to be somewhat of a tongue twister and I have to cancel and repeat it occasionally. It just seems a bit cumbersome. Why can't I just say "Alexa, Close garage door."? I hope it lasts as long as my old Genie. ... show more

I installed this unit about a few weeks ago and it is working great. It is really quiet compared to my old chain drive opener. I also installed the mobile app and get notified whenever the garage door is opened/closed.
