    • The best garage door opener
This opener checks all the boxes! The Genie is higher in price but worth it. I first bought Liftmaster because of name and price. However I returned it due to missing safety parts (listed as new but box had been opened). I decided to spend more and get Genie mainly because it works with Alexa. Glad I did. Easy to install and program. Very quiet operation. 3 mo. old now and not one issue. In the past I have occasionally forgotten to close door and left open overnight. Because it communicates with Alexa, I have her issue a "close" command at a specific time daily. She will close the door and respond "closing and closed". If it is already closed, she responds "garage door is closed". You can also use Alexa to open door but with a code. My old opener had issues using remote or homelink in car. You had to be in a certain position to work. NOT the Genie. You just touch the button and it works no matter where you are positioned. I read some comments that people didn't like the "studder" noise at the initial start to open or close. The opener purposely does this to check the cable tention on the sides of door. It is only 2 to 3 seconds and does delay the immediate moving of door. You quickly get used to it. An important footnote: your door must be properly installed - tracks at propper width and incline. Also very important that overhead coil springs are propperly tensioned and lubricated. My door is 22 years old and I couldn't get balance up and down as per instructions. I have heard horror stories about coil springs and trying to change tension. Dangerous to point of loosing fingers. I called a door professional and glad I did. He pointed out springs were not balanced and tracks were not initially installed at propper angle. Probably why my old belt drive opener never worked smoothly and made all the racket. Short of it is: every time I drive out of the garage I say "Man, I love this opener". ... show more

Quiet, easy to setup, only negative is the ceiling light has a gap around the light where it meets the ceiling. Pretty silly for such an expensive opener to have they poor quality on the light you always see. WiFi took a real effort to get setup but once setup it's been a rock solid unit overall..

    • Almost as perfect as the ceiling mount version
Have two of the ceiling mount versions of this opener and love them. Needed a wall mount for a third door, and chose this based on my love of the other two. I love this one just a little less than the other two. Installation, setup, config were easy and the app works well. All the same features in the app for this wall mount as for the ceiling mount model. The lock on the door is a nice feature that the ceiling mount model doesn't have. Only reason for 4 stars is that this is not super quite like my other two openers. But a most solid 4-star product. Would have been a 5 star review if I hadn't been spoiled by the two super-quiet ceiling models. ... show more

    • Dramatic Improvement
Granted my previous overhead opener dates back to 1997. This new opener is very very quiet and also fixed a major problem I had with the 1997 opener. The 1997 opener was installed OFF-Centered!!! Why? the installer apparently could not find a wood support behind the drywall for the opener. So they installed some feeble bracket allow the opener to be mounted off centered. This bracket would twist every time the opener would pull the door up, I am amazed the bracket survived from 1997. I was always worried that one day the bracket would twist so much it would just break. Enough of the old stuff. This opener was very easy to install once I fixed up issues with the garage door itself: tube shaft needed to be shift to provide required space, garage door track needed to shift for clearance for cable tensioner. The opener itself is something one person can install by themselves. Other than some basic hand tools: socket wrench, open wrench, bullet level, screw driver. It's incredibly quiet, the only thing we hear now is the rollers rattling on the hinges as the door opens and closes. Love the Genie Aladdin Feature being able to open and close with the cell phone. It's the best thing ever, would not and will not ever go back to an overhead opener again as there are just too many parts associated with overhead openers. ... show more

    • Worst service from Genie
So I had a $50000 Pole Barn built and I needed 3 garage door openers decided to go with a genie model 6172. All 3 of them installed without a problem and work correctly with the exception of the one wireless wall controller does not seem to be powering up. I even tried new batteries in it. So I called genie's customer service line and they were not able to be able to send me the correct wall controller that came brand new in the box..and they said they weren'table to help me and the lady hung up on me. This is the worst Case scenario for a company to treat their customers like that. Unbelievable I will never purchase a genie product again and will never recommend that company to anyone. ... show more

    • Quiet opener.
Excellent opener. Got it for my RV bay door. Smooth and quiet. Love the delay close button. Programming cars and remotes gets tricky if you need to press learn button. I need tall ladder to reach the unit. Overall happy.

I had never seen or used one of these wall mount units before, but I heard they were a great solution for a garage door opener where there was not enough headroom for a standard type. More than pleasantly surprised! Install only took me a couple hours, adjustments were easy, and the thing is so quiet that we cant even hear the garage door opening from our rec-room which is directly aver the garage. Would definitely recommend and plan to buy another for the other side of the garage. ... show more

Decent product and function when installed but about the worst setup experience of any device in my smart home. One inexplicably arrived prepaired to someone else’s account despite being delivered as new.
