    • Excellent alternative to cheap box fans
First, I ordered a white box fan and received a black one. No idea how or why that happened, but for my purposes it doesn't matter, and I actually prefer the black version for the intended location. I use box fans in my home to improve air flow, air filtering (with a 20x20x1 filter attached) and white noise. I keep a couple running at all times. I have purchased numerous $20-$25 box fans from a large local retailer (I believe Lasko is the prominent brand). This is so much better. I purchased one of these a while ago and liked it so much that I went with this fan again. The legs / stands are robust and the airflow is substantially better with these. Which, that also means they are noisier than the standard, cheap-o $20 box fans. If you want a completely silent fan, then you probably should look for something else if you're looking to move air. If you want a much-better version of a box fan you can pick up locally, this could be a great option. If you want something that moves even more air, get something like this AIr King (B0007Q3RMA) -- though that is even louder, but much more powerful than this. This does run $10-$20 more than box fans I can get locally if buying new, but the extra price so far has been justified. They look better, they function better and they offer better airflow. ... show more

Fan works phenomenal, has really good speed, it’s light and has that perfect fan sound that’s nice and loud to create the perfect white noise.

This fan definitely moves air and I love the fact that you can place it in the window because I does not have a top handle. It is rather loud on the high setting, so don't expect something quiet compared to smaller twin window fans.

When it comes to cooling down a room, instead of using air conditioning on warm days, the Genesis 20" Box Fan is a good substitute. It's pretty light to lift and really moves air, especially when the setting is on high! Two issues to tell you about. #1, the fan is expectedly a bit loud when running on high, and #2, the fan that I received didn't come with a carrying handle as advertised. There were no holes drilled from the factory to accommodate a handle. It simply didn't come with one. That's not a big deal for me as this makes it quite easy to place the fan securely in the window, and remember, this fan is not heavy. ... show more

    • It was working beautifully until it stopped
I bought this back in late July/early August and within the last few days it stopped. It did the job. My husband kept that thing on almost constantly so I figure that’s what did it in. The fan is noisy and has three speeds, as well as it’s pretty light. I wouldn’t go into buying this if you dislike white noise at night. Update 5/1/24 The fan was amazing while it worked.. I want to say it stopped working around December.. the poor thing was pretty much on constantly. I often turned it off but my husband did the opposite afterwards, he loves keeping things on all the time🤦🏻♀️ I would buy again but weary of the same thing happening to it in our house, I still recommend it for others who like white noise and don’t plan on using it 24/7. ... show more

    • LOUD- VERY LOUD
This fan is way too loud on ALL speeds. I generally don't mind some noise, hum and prefer a light white noise, but this fan is unbearable. I might as well be hanging out on the tarmac on an airport. I wasn't crazy about the air output either. The distinction between speeds is narrow; low is too much air and high isn't strong enough. I am returning despite having to deduct $12.99 from my refund. Will do better homework on noise levels on my next purchase to replace this mistake. ... show more
