Very sturdy sockets. you would not want one of these thrown at your head. They are still thin enough to slide nicely onto the lug and not contact the wheel. The rubber is nice just in case.

  • GW with another W product
GW is creeping up to become my favorite tool brand. Feature rich sets and tools. These are very solid impacts for removing lugs and bolts. The protective orange non-marking siding makes them less of a danger to delicate wheels and scratch’s that can cost to repair.

  • Great set of wheel sockets
These are a great set of wheel sockets. I use them all the time with my 20v impact driver. The plastic sleeves have helped keep the sockets from scratching my chrome wheels.

  • Quality non marring lug nut sockets
The media could not be loaded. These sockets are heavy duty and work just as intended. The outer protective sleeve is soft enough that it won’t scratch up wheels but hard enough that they aren’t going to wear down instantly. The finish is high quality these sockets look great. They are a little bit tight to get on and off my impact but I’m sure they will wear in over time. The also like that they included a case to keep them together. The case is pretty good quality but I worry the latch may wear down over time. Overall this is a high quality set and a great value. ... show more

Must have I use these all the time

  • The case is a nice feature.
I appreciate the case for these sockets. It would have been an even better deal if there was also a 22mm socket for my Silverado wheels. Not enough to knock a star because I already have a socket for that, it's just not like these with the protective covering.

  • Buy this and a breaker bar if you care about your wheels!!!
If you own a Porsche, Ferrari, Range Rover, Lamborghini, or Bentley, you need to buy this in the appropriate size and a breaker bar to leave in the vehicle! I'VE PERSONALLY USED GEAR WRENCH OR PERFORMANCE TOOL BRAND ON ALL FIVE MARQUES WHEN I WAS OFF THE BEATEN PATH- no Italian or English service shops in far west Texas! If you get stuck in a small town or on the side of the road, you'll appreciate the breaker bar more than you could ever expect!!! Furthermore, when you go to ANY tire store or dealer and have this protective socket, they know you mean business when it comes to protecting your wheels. Don't EVER let a shop use an impact wrench on high-end wheels- even with this socket. They will moan and complain, but with your breaker bar and this socket, they have no excuse to not remove and put on the lug nuts by hand. Then have them use a torque wrench to the values specified in your owner's manual. Most of the cars I mentioned range from 103 pound feet to 120 pound feet. Damage will not occur anywhere in this range, and there is no safety risk if you don't plan on doing very high-performance driving until you can get an accurate measurement of the torque applied to your lug nuts. I recently had a Range Rover that the shop ignored my instructions and they didn't even use torque sticks with their impact wrench. Within 2 miles I knew something was wrong and pulled over. I was able to get my local Snap-On rep to stop by with a new precision digital meter that read higher than any tool I had. The first lug nut we were able to break over registered 289 ft-lb!!! Rotor warp and a host of other problems would have likely occurred had I not been on top of the problem. I was lucky to not suffer any stud damage on that one... P.S. - If you drive a car and care about the wheels like I do, clean them as well as you can conceivably clean them prior to taking to have tires changed or a puncture repaired. I'm talking about cleaning them so they look like they did the day they rolled off the assembly line. Then have a manager inspect and notate any damage before they get started. By doing this and having the protective socket, he will have his most experienced technician work on your car. With them clean as described, they will know you are particular and won't be able to say that any damage was there before they started. Everyone can be on the same page- I've had many friends and fellow enthusiasts take cars in for new tires only to find damage later that the shop claims was already there just not noticed because of all the road grime and brake dust covering the wheel! ... show more
