I was on the verge of buying a quiet window AC by a highly rated brand, just as news broke out that their AC was being quietly pulled from store shelves all over the country. It was rumored that the company was going to announce an official recall, and a week later, they did. To avoid the hassle of buying a product that was faulty, I researched other AC brands and chose this one by General Electric. I'm really happy I made this choice. We've had it for over a month, and it works flawlessly. It's so efficient and nowhere near as loud as the old window AC that we bought 24 years ago. Working great so far two weeks in! Great for performance for the small form factor. Big bump up from my previous unit’s BTU, so it feels really cold. It delivered in great condition. I wish the remote control was more reactive/instant. The noise level is good, and it does block outside noise better than my old unit. The first air conditioner I got when I put it in the window in my bedroom didn’t work. It shuttered shook. Would run for a few minutes shut off and then start up again never given out cold air. got a hold of GE and they told me I should get a hold of Amazon so I got a hold of Amazon and they were absolutely great. They gave me three choices one to have somebody come out and repair it to ship it back and get a refund or three ship it out and get a replacement. I chose a ladder and this call went out to them late in the evening and I had the new air conditioner by noon the next day. No one can guarantee that everything‘s gonna be in great working condition when you get it. It’s just the way things are today. That being said Amazon made it whole and I couldn’t be happier and it’s not the first time that I’ve had a problem with the product and Amazon backed it and took care of it. I love this air conditioner cause it was quiet only use 9.1 Amps , 10,000 BTU, it’s quiet and it’s a light, lighter than other 10,000 BTU units that I’ve had. I needed a quiet AC cause it’s going to my bedroom.I’ve been running it all day and it’s been great so far. I’m gonna give GE4 stars I mean not everything‘s gonna be perfect but if I could get five stars, it would be to Amazon and their people again they were great to work with and I love the machine. ... show more

    • Where's The Apple Support?
Where's The Apple Support? Cools as well as my last 10K BTU window A/C and just as quiet. The lack of Apple support is a big minus for me. There's Google and Amazon support, but no Apple HomeKit anything. My last A/C was a cheap Chinese model and I could use Apple shortcuts right from my Applewatch "Hey, Siri turn on the A/C" That Midea A/C was 5 years old. My iPhone can't even see this A/C on my home network. Can't believe such an established company like GE could fall so far behind. I've been told it's because Google and Amazon collect and sell usage information, but Apple doesn't. More on that in a minute. The other annoying thing about the GE A/C is that it always starts in "ECO Mode" There is no place in the app to remotely turn off ECO Mode. You have to physically turn it off at the unit. I only run this A/C when needed, so I often will turn it on remotely based on the local weather and outside temperature. I need all the settings directly accessible in the app. Then there’s the app and the GE account you have to create just to use it. There are six different places hidden in the app that you have to access, just to opt out of things like sharing your usage and other private data. I can’t believe there are actually two places buried in the app where you to have to opt out and send and email confirmation for “Do not sell my personal information” That’s right. By using the app, you agree by default to allow GE, Google and Amazon to collect and sell your personal information like your name, address, email and phone number. I see a lot of 4 and 5 star Vine reviews from people who got their unit for free. I paid full price for mine. There are several other inverter A/C units on the market that have similar energy use and performance, but they don’t expect you to give away all your privacy. This air conditioner worked great this summer. The air flow was amazing without breaking the bank. Kept the whole place cool, comfortable and very easy to use and install. Very affordable air conditioner and energy efficient.

We found this GE Profile 10,000 BTU air conditioner to be a pretty nice AC unit. It blows cold and has the necessary basic features including three fan speeds. Very easy to use. It is considered fairly light weight for a window unit, but we still needed two people to install it without damaging the window sill (or our backs!). Once installed, it is clean and modern in appearance. We are using it in our living room, so the sound is not as much of an issue as it would be in a bedroom. However, it is fairly quiet when set on the quiet mode. The high mode is loud, but moves a lot of air. We took off one star for this review because it arrived scuffed up on the bottom of the unit. Not sure if this is a factory issue, but we assumed we were getting a new air conditioner, so it should look better with smooth, fresh paint. Luckily, this issue was not on the front panel.
