i had the ice at a friends house and i had to get one for myself. i dont like traditional ice at all but i ended up getting this one and im very happy with it. the ice is exactly like what you get at the fast food drive in place. possibly even a little better if you use good water. the speed is surprising. it starts making ice within minutes of turning it on, and the bin fills up faster than expected. a few notes on use and practicality and efficiency: it does make some noise. its a kitchen appliance. its not loud, but youll hear it running. and like any kitchen machine you do need to clean it regularly. neither of these are dealbreakers, just things to know going in. i dont know if its the fastest on the market or the biggest or the newest or the one with the most features. all i can can attest to is that i dont normally like plain ice but this is different and better and i do like it and it does a great job. i use bottled water not tap water. in terms of bottled water it can hold 2 liters (4x 500ml bottles = this makes about 6 real cups of ice) in the machine reservoir and it comes with a side tank that can hold much more for a constant supply of ice. i dont use the side tank at all. i fill up the reso on the machine and use that but the tank is there just in case you need a whole lot of ice. there is a clip on the bottom of the machine that lets you mount the tank to either side and a magnet on the side reso that keeps it stuck to the machine. the manual on the machine doesnt tell you jack in terms of operation and assembly. you have to head to yt but thankfully theres not much to getting it to work. you must clean it when you get it and this is the most important thing. the instructions state to run the clean cycle 4 times with fresh water each time and then you are ready to go. ge could do a better job here. it says the machine is capable of 300 watts but the biggest power draw i saw was a spike to 228 when powering on the machine and what i assumed was the compressor turning on. when its fully operational and making ice its drawing between 2.40-2.55 amps and 148-170 watts. i monitored the power usage from the moment i plugged it in the first time and running through 4 cleaning cycles and making my first batch of ice it used 4 cents worth of electricity. one of my concerns was with power draw and parasitic power draw since this device can be on the network. the total measured wattage while idle is 1-3 watts which is on par with other high quality networked devices. it does a fantastic job of staying efficient while making very cheap affordable high quality ice that almost anyone would enjoy. ... show more

I cannot say enough good things about this GE Countertop Nugget Ice Maker. After years of buying bags of ice and dealing with refrigerator ice makers that never seemed to produce enough, I finally decided to invest in this machine—and I only wish I had done it sooner. The nugget ice it produces is absolutely perfect. It’s soft, crunchy, chewable, and exactly like the ice you get at restaurants, hospitals, or convenience stores. If you’re an ice chewer like I am, this machine is a dream come true. The texture is incredible and makes every drink feel like a special treat. Setup was extremely simple. I had it out of the box, cleaned, and running within minutes. The instructions were easy to follow, and the machine started making ice much faster than I expected. It continuously produces fresh ice throughout the day, so we never run out, even when entertaining guests. One thing that really impressed me is the quality of the build. The unit feels sturdy, well-designed, and looks beautiful on the countertop. The sleek design blends in perfectly with my kitchen appliances and actually looks high-end. Despite producing a large amount of ice, it doesn’t take up as much space as I thought it would. The water reservoir is easy to fill, and maintenance is straightforward. The self-cleaning feature is a huge bonus and makes upkeep simple. I also appreciate how easy it is to monitor the water level and ice production. Another pleasant surprise is how much money it has saved us. We used to buy bags of ice regularly for parties, road trips, and everyday use. Nothing wrong with the product, but the color is described as "Moonstone Blue" and it appeared to have a shimmer to it in the pictures online, but it is more accurately Powder Blue - no shimmer, just flat.
