I ordered this. It came, it worked well and then the water pump broke. So draining water from the inside to the outside stopped. Theres basically no videos on this issue online so I figured I got a lemon, and returned it. Ordered it again and it has been FANTASTIC. it is very very easy to install, you do need 2 people. But as soon as it is sitting in place, plug it in and it immediately works like a charm. Here in Texas we were sitting around 110 outside with 25% humidity. The air blowing on the max cool setting on the inside comes out at 48. It blows colder, when the outside temp isn't as horrible. I got the app and love using the app. You can control all functions of the unit from the app and it tells you electricity usage. I also like the app because I can turn it on max cool as I'm leaving for work and get home to a chilled house. You can also make your own preset setting on the app which is nice to simply have one click options depending on your need. The function of the unit is very quiet both inside and outside the house. In addition to the app it comes with a remote that works well too. The saddle design allows for you to use 98% of the visible part of the window still. The foam it comes with to sit on and block the sides of the walls was very easy to install. Overall I strongly reccomend this unit. I replaced an old window unit cause it had ran out of cold air. I plugged this one in, install was a breeze. Turned it on and the local morgue called wanting to store bodies in the bedroom.... very quiet and will freeze out a walrus.

AC works well. It is heavy! So you do need 2 people to put it into place, and so you do not scratch or damage your windows/ledges/trim. It cools well. the quiet mode is quiet, but in quiet mode when the condenser kicks' on, it would wake me up. So I would leave it in normal mode and I would not hear the condenser noise kicking on as much. But, this was in my bedroom only 5' from my bed. Over all it works well, if you want to be able to open the window or still see out, this really does work well. I used it in a slider window, so I could build a frame above it, and actually installed a small shed window so I could still open up a window in this room, this was the only window in this bedroom and hated that the window was un-usable with an AC in it. It took some work and ingenuity to do this, but it worked! It really a matter of preference and the view or use of your window or a regular window unit would be fine. I would not leave this in over winter though, if your in a climate with snow. But, I did notice the holds for the center section where you can adjust the depth - are showing rust already! WTH! I did not like portable units in this room, they are too loud since they are so close to my bed. But over all this unit is nice and did work as I wanted. ... show more

This update should have been written last summer, but it is worse now, so I will give the history. As others have stated, the lowest temp you can select is 64. That does not mean the you will get your bedroom within 5 degrees of this requested temperature. High/Cool is actually nothing more than a fan. The compressor does not kick on. To get the compressor I turn on, you have to change the setting from Cool to Dry. Now you are removing the humidity, but it was spring and not even humid. I just wanted cold air! When you switch the Cool mode to Dry, and leave the fan speed on high - not touching it…it automatically goes into a low fan speed but the instrument panel still says it is high speed. At first it would turn off by itself in the middle of the night and you would wake up in a puddle of sweat and the air being very muggy. You get up, turn it back on, but the room never cools off. Setting up a service call was so hard to figure out. You are directed to go into the GE website and request service. There was only 1 place on the website in our area. We live right between DC and Richmond, but there was only 1 service company???!!!! I scheduled the appointment and received confirmation but it was still 2 weeks out. The guy never showed! When I went back to the website to see if I had put the wrong date on my calendar, there was a final statement input by THE SERVICE COMPANY that never showed up saying “appointment cancelled by customer “. WTH?!!!!!! At that point, my warranty literally had expired 2 days prior. I can’t stand this thing. I want to beat it into a million pieces with a sledge hammer, pack it up and send it to GE HQ. I still am receiving emails that my warranty has expired and to take out a service plan. Good luck getting someone out to even look at it. Decided to conserve energy at night. There is no reason to have the heat pump run all night to cool the house to 68 degrees for sleeping. This unit is quiet, has an eco setting so the compressor will kick on and off. My Great Pyrenees wants to sleep in our room now that it is a lot colder! I am so happy that the temperature is more regulated too - no hot spots! ... show more

We were working with a horizontal sliding window which is not the preferred situation, but we were able to make it work with a little ingenuity. The main goal was to cool the bedroom and minimize the noise. The design of the unit accomplishes the noise isolation by the U shape design. With the horizontal sliding window though we were left with a opening above the unit. This was easily filled with a piece of 3/4" plywood that was secured in place with construction screws. A little chaulking, some white paint and it looks like it was a professional install! It will keep the room nice and cool during the Austin summer. Last year Austin had 45 days in a row of triple digit temperatures and the central unit struggled to try and cool house. ... show more

I Love these a/c units they run great they are powerful. I have two of them and I recommend them . I used to have the spilt a/c on the wall in my old house and they were expensive to fix and leaked plus they would blow the air on you when u were sleeping which it not nice. This new a/c that goes in the window is way better it cools the whole room nice and it just feels fresh and nice . 😊 ... show more
