I seriously like this thing. The only downside is cost, but I hope once these types of units become more popular, they'll make more of them and drive down costs. I HATE portable AC units, but my building wouldn't authorize typical window units for "safety" concerns, so when I showed them this, they approved it because it can't really fall out of the window due to the saddle design. Having the compressor on the outside of the window makes such a huge difference, and with the window closed, you can barely hear it. At first I felt like it didn't push a lot of air, but it pushes enough--it's just not so LOUD, which is deceptive at first. I am definitely more impressed than I thought I would be. Installation definitely requires two people, but it is relatively straightforward. If you have installed a normal window unit, you can install this with no additional tools or knowledge. The last thing I think is worth mentioning is that this thing says it fits windows up to 40", but in reality, it will fit any up-and-down style window that's wider than the unit itself. Mine are 48", and I just had to cut a wider piece of foam board than the one they include. Frankly, I wish they would have included a wider piece, since you probably have to cut it anyway, but overall a small gripe. Recommend without reservation. ... show more

Update: After buying a second one after the first one crapped itself because it stopped blowing cold air, this new one also stopped blowing cold air. Whatever these things are, they do not last more than a year or two and the cold air will simply stop. I’ve spent like $800 total for both machines and the fact that they don’t last very long is very disappointing because they look nice. Avoid avoid avoid Original review: I bought this item used, for about 350 USD. The description was heavy cosmetic damage, but honestly this thing came factory new! Only complaint I have is that ALL of the accessories such as the cut to size styrofoam, window spacers, sash lock, literally anything else including the manual did not arrive with my item. A little bit of a downer but the item came used so it’s expected. The noise level is actually pretty quiet compared to what a machine like this is capable of, don’t think that your not gonna be able to hear it at all, it DOES make noise, it’s just more subtle than most ac units. For a first time install it was a little bit difficult but that’s because it was just me. Foam was hard to cut but I got my own foam, overall great product. ... show more

My goodness this thing is so quiet, I forget that I turned it on. Then when I wake up in the morning and go into the kitchen where I have it, I realize by the cool air that I left it on all night. It only goes as low as 64, but on cool mode it is sufficient. I am nearly at the point in switching it out with the saddle one I have in the bedroom. The quietness of this so noticeable that I am jealous that my bedroom has a loud one. I would switch it out if the sucker didn’t weigh so much. It took me all of my might to hoist it up over the frame, hold it and secure it. This only happened as the window was fairly low to the ground. The one in the bedroom is much higher and I would need 2 running A/C’s just to keep me cool in attempting to lift either of those that high without help. Very pleased with this product. I was worried about this ac because Amazon gave me a warning that it is a frequently returned item. I decided to try it because my bedroom only has one window and I didn’t like the ac taking away the gorgeous view for the hot months. I came in dented so that made me even more wary. The installation went very easy and in no time it cooled the room down to sub zero (jk). Some things that I didn’t like at first. If the outside temp is in the mid to low 70’s, the ac doesn’t turn on. So if you like the room on the cool side, like I do, then waking in the middle of the night to turn the ac off then back on helps to cycle it on. Quiet. This thing is quiet. Every once in a while something kicks in, I think the water pump, and it gets a bit louder. It is no way as loud as a regular type window unit The darn remote is freakin worthless. Yes it works BUT it is white with the faintest light gray writing on it. It makes it impossible to tell which button is which. I’m not blind but the remote made me feel blind. I use the app the adjust the ac any time I need to. It’s works a lot better. I like the ac and I like that I can see outside. I would have given it 5 stars if it had not come in dented. There was plenty of packaging around the working parts but just not the top where it’s dented. UPDATE: As I mentioned on first review the remote is worthless so I normally depend on the Bluetooth connection my phone. That is until two days ago when the unit disconnected itself from bluetooth. Now I can unplug, wait for 30 seconds then replug and immediately push the WiFi button on the unit. It connects just fine. UNTIL I open the app and that disconnects it. So now I have a remoteness a/c. This is used in a bedroom for extra cooling on the hot side of the house. This means I can no longer check the temperature and adjust as needed. It also means as we sleep at night the a/c cannot be adjusted with getting up, turning the lights and turning it up or down manually. You can imagine what that does to a sleep pattern. It’s not the WiFi. We have full coverage on other devices that are next to the tv that operate fine. Just beware if this might be an issue for you. ... show more

Worked great for a year--quiet and cool--but when we started running it again after the first winter season, it started making obnoxiously loud noises (compressor I think) on and off. I didn't think to check on the warranty and that was a mistake...I'm now just two days past the 1-year warranty period. The noises started at about month 10. It's not suitable for a bedroom environment...imagine getting woken up every 15 minutes by a roaring, rattling jet engine. So these units are good for a single, long season, but watch the calendar and report any issues *promptly*. I would have paid for the extended warranty if I could do it again. ... show more

This AC unit is quiet, after reading many reviews I opted for the 6300 BTU one and it is keeping the entire front of my home cool and comfortable. Even with the torrential rainfall we have been having in the Northeast I haven't had any of the dripping or water problems other people report. I'm really, really happy with this purchase. My home has never been easy to keep cool in the summer due to a ton of southern exposure and insulation from the 1920's. It is kind of heavy, but an extra set of hands installing it made it a breeze. If you worry about security issues in your neighborhood and use the portable stand up units instead like I did, I want you to know that this single unit has completely replaced the crazy loud 8000 *and* 12000 BTU units (which heat up the room as much as cool it) that I used to use. It's completely secure and I have no worries about it due to the small gap it fits through. AND IT'S SO FREAKING QUIET ... show more

It turned out to be a little heavier than expected and took two people to get it in the window. I have been using it for about three or four weeks and I am pleased with its operation so far. I use it in the quiet mode and barely hear it. I am using it in a bedroom that is approximately 12'X16". We haven't had extreme heat yet but it has done a good job of keeping the room cool. I love that it doesn't completely block the window and isn't a complete eyesore from the outside, especially because the window is on the front of the house. Died after two weeks, wouldn't turn on. Did a great job during the first two weeks though. Lower noise than many other window air conditioners. Great controls too. But if it doesn't work after two weeks WTF? I emptied the inside water cap and insert plug, thought that might have caused the shutdown, but it doesn't even light up, totally dead. The GFCI shows green and testing the GFCI seems to work but no help there. ... show more
