I seriously like this thing. The only downside is cost, but I hope once these types of units become more popular, they'll make more of them and drive down costs. I HATE portable AC units, but my building wouldn't authorize typical window units for "safety" concerns, so when I showed them this, they approved it because it can't really fall out of the window due to the saddle design. Having the compressor on the outside of the window makes such a huge difference, and with the window closed, you can barely hear it. At first I felt like it didn't push a lot of air, but it pushes enough--it's just not so LOUD, which is deceptive at first. I am definitely more impressed than I thought I would be. Installation definitely requires two people, but it is relatively straightforward. If you have installed a normal window unit, you can install this with no additional tools or knowledge. The last thing I think is worth mentioning is that this thing says it fits windows up to 40", but in reality, it will fit any up-and-down style window that's wider than the unit itself. Mine are 48", and I just had to cut a wider piece of foam board than the one they include. Frankly, I wish they would have included a wider piece, since you probably have to cut it anyway, but overall a small gripe. Recommend without reservation. ... show more

Died after two weeks, wouldn't turn on. Did a great job during the first two weeks though. Lower noise than many other window air conditioners. Great controls too. But if it doesn't work after two weeks WTF? I emptied the inside water cap and insert plug, thought that might have caused the shutdown, but it doesn't even light up, totally dead. The GFCI shows green and testing the GFCI seems to work but no help there. ... show more

My goodness this thing is so quiet, I forget that I turned it on. Then when I wake up in the morning and go into the kitchen where I have it, I realize by the cool air that I left it on all night. It only goes as low as 64, but on cool mode it is sufficient. I am nearly at the point in switching it out with the saddle one I have in the bedroom. The quietness of this so noticeable that I am jealous that my bedroom has a loud one. I would switch it out if the sucker didn’t weigh so much. It took me all of my might to hoist it up over the frame, hold it and secure it. This only happened as the window was fairly low to the ground. The one in the bedroom is much higher and I would need 2 running A/C’s just to keep me cool in attempting to lift either of those that high without help. Very pleased with this product. I amend my first review. This thing works well if it's above 75 outside, but at night it just blows air but that's because i'm in the mountains so the sensor thinks it's cooler than it is. That's the one thing that drives me nuts about it. Otherwise it looks nice, it is quiet, and the dehumidifier is very helpful when needed. It is a little too smart though, I can't get it as cold as I want but I'd prefer it cool and quiet and that cold and noisy. Still I want more for my money, but it's nice. I don't need a $400 fan at night when I sleep hot. I just can't wait for summer to end. ... show more

So far I like it. Install was fairly easy, and it blows really cold air. A lot of people said it was loud but it is actually very quiet. I like the low profile as no one can see it from the streer as a low hedge covers it. It cools of the 200 sq. ft room in about 5 minutes. The thermostat is accurate as I have measured it; shuts off after reaching temperature. There's really nothing yet I don't like about it. ... show more

-Pros 1) It is quiet. By keeping the compressor outside it does run quiet. I like that but there is a con below.... 2) Doesn't take window space. I like this because the window would still open. I installed it in my shop wall. It is nice because I could just hang it across a 2x4 and adjust the tilt. 3) The remote is simple to use. 4) I have a 8 x 16 office that is well insulated and it works but it is well insulated. -Kinda Con 1) Very Heavy (Needs 2 people to install). I am ok with this because I had people to help. so not a big ding but just a heads up. 2) The buttons are very touchy. I have powered it down, changed the fan and went from AC to fac accidentally when just touching it. I like buttons to know when I press them. The touch is was too "Touchy" for me. -Cons 1) Air comes out at 45 Degrees. I wanted it to point across the room but at best effort it points up at the ceiling. I am assuming this is because the unit would be low if I hung it in a window and not in the middle of my wall. I have pointed them all the way down in the pictures. Tou can see I need to hold the phone up high to show the open vents. 2) Not much fan power. On high it is like 1/2 or 3/4 of our other unit. I wanted it to blow across the room but that doesn't happen. I am assuming they do this to keep it quiet and it is quiet. I believe a less insulated space might have a little problem because not much power. 3) The lights turn off after some time and there is nothing to show it is powered up. There is no button to press and light up the controls. 4) This is my 1 year update - I have to turn it off and back on to keep the temp usable. I have to set it on 72 and it turns on but never goes off until I up the temp to 75 or just turn it off. Some units bring in air to test the temp. They turn on the fan to verify room temp and turn off. This one does not do that on "Eco." Since the thermostat is in the front of the unit the AC needs to warm up to turn back on. Very bad design. I am going to try and let it run all the time and hopefully works. Have not tried the wireless but no desire to do it. ... show more

This AC unit is quiet, after reading many reviews I opted for the 6300 BTU one and it is keeping the entire front of my home cool and comfortable. Even with the torrential rainfall we have been having in the Northeast I haven't had any of the dripping or water problems other people report. I'm really, really happy with this purchase. My home has never been easy to keep cool in the summer due to a ton of southern exposure and insulation from the 1920's. It is kind of heavy, but an extra set of hands installing it made it a breeze. If you worry about security issues in your neighborhood and use the portable stand up units instead like I did, I want you to know that this single unit has completely replaced the crazy loud 8000 *and* 12000 BTU units (which heat up the room as much as cool it) that I used to use. It's completely secure and I have no worries about it due to the small gap it fits through. AND IT'S SO FREAKING QUIET ... show more

Terrible product. Purchases 5 and the condensate pumps in 3/5 have stopped working. Most recent has leaked inside and heaved a new hard wood floor. Obvious design flaw by GE. Very unfortunate bc the low profile was awesome. But not worth the risk of what happened in my home
