  • Quiet machine and worth every penny.
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
A few things that may help others when making this decision to buy a Clearview AC 1. I noticed that a few people have referenced the small barely visible light flashing near the filter vent screen and thinking that the unit is defective. This light will illuminate and flash if your wifi connection fails or if the unit is not connected to your network. You must download the SmartHQ app and allow your network to connect to your air conditioner and after you connect, the light will go out. 2. Noise and vibration. After you have installed your new ac, you may notice noise outside. This is purposeful and the noise isn’t crazy loud at all. It is on par with an average window ac unit. A couple of things to consider about the vibration. After installing the ac and tightening up the built in clamps, you can expect to have vibration if you are installing the ac in a house that has vinyl siding or possibly even stucco. Consider installing a piece of rubber under the adjustable stabilizer screws where the foot of the clamp meets your home’s exterior. A great source of rubber would be from a bicycle tire tube. Cut a 4-6 inch section of the tube and fold it over a few times and place under the clamp foot. The clamp foot is about the size of a quarter and by folding the section of rubber over a few times, you have just created a dampener that will absorb and eliminate any vibration and it will be small enough to barely see unless you are looking for it. A tube for a bicycle or tricycle can be had for a few dollars. It doesn’t have to be big or does it doesn’t have to be perfect. As far as the performance of the 10,300 btu clear view ac, it is ultra quiet and very efficient. It cools quicker than the non inverter models. The air is ice cold and will adjust to 64 degrees F. I am extremely satisfied with my choice in this unit as it does everything you would want and expect in an air conditioner. Going with the inverter equipped model was smart. It will save you money and it will not cost you in the way of performance. By choosing the inverter model, there won’t be any surges when the ac begins to cycle. This means that there won’t be issues with your new ac tripping a breaker if you plug in a vacuum cleaner. The thing is a beast. If I had to buy it again, I would. Easy 5 stars. *Buy the bicycle tube or a mud flap and use it if you have siding outside. You will thank me. Also, if the unit has been placed on its side or upside down for any reason, delivery etc., please turn the unit upright for at least 30 minutes to allow the oils to seep back down onto the parts that need to be lubricated. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Failure of engineering.
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
I wanted to like this unit. I wanted to a lot. I like the formfactor. It's quiet. And cools... kind of. There are problems though. The first issue is that the width resizing is imprecise. Getting it to fit my windowsill properly even with the combination of expanding and the adjustable feet was impossible. Go up one and the feet are wobbly and bend to the point they don't provide support. The current size wouldn't fit over the slanted brickwork. I ended up having to expand then force it closed and hold it while the screws were put in. It still isn't quite right, there's a bit of a bow in the unit, but since the expansion adjustments have such big steps, it was the only option. Not well thought out. Second issue is the app is lame. It works. Sometimes. It has ads on the home screen, and it always brings you back to the home screen on every launch. I already gave you money, GE. I don't want to be solicited every time I open the app! The remote would bypass that, but it's finicky. Has to be pointed directly at the unit, and even then, it takes multiple times to try to adjust the temp, which is often because... The damn thing won't start cooling until the temp is 3 degrees hotter than the set temp! Even when I switch to Cool from Eco, it still waits until it gets to be more than 3 degrees. This is supposed to be an inverter unit. It's supposed to vary the capacity to keep my room constantly cool. My Midea U does when it's on cool instead of eco. The GE doesn't. That means it basically fails at its entire job, which is to keep things consistently cool without constantly turning on and off. What's the point of paying for an inverter if it's going to work like a dumb on/off compressor? If you like the formfactor, have an easy windowsill, and don't mind constant temperature swings, go for it. If your goal is consistent temperature with an easy install, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Keeping cool in the summer
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
Bought this window AC to supplement my master bedroom temperature during hot, humid conditions in the south. My previous window rattler would only be turned Install is pretty easy but does require a bit of measuring, cutting, and positioning. On full blast it's pretty loud but it's quiet as a mouse on low. It occasionally switches on the compressor to high load, but it only runs 2-4 minutes in a very loud mode. One con is the shear weight of this unit. It's 70ish pounds. Much heavier than other units. Room is cooled 68f, and kept that way all night without waking me. 5 star. ... show more

  • Quiet, Efficient, and Keeps the Room Cool
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
This GE Profile inverter window AC has been a huge upgrade over a traditional window unit. The inverter compressor makes a noticeable difference — it cools the room quickly while staying much quieter than older ACs I’ve owned. Once the target temperature is reached, it maintains it smoothly instead of constantly blasting on and off. The ClearView design is also nice because it doesn’t block as much of the window or natural light compared to standard units. Installation took a little time because of the size and weight, but the instructions were straightforward overall. I’ve also noticed lower noise during sleep and better energy efficiency during long Florida heat days. Wi-Fi/app controls are convenient for adjusting settings remotely or setting schedules. If you want a modern window AC that’s quieter, more efficient, and feels more premium than the average unit, this one has been worth it. ... show more

  • Warranty fix in a few months. Horrible AC. Honest review.
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
I'm having this warranty repaired after a few months, the pump that whisks the water from the ront tank to the fan stopped working. This is the most horrible design of a window AC I have seen. There is a PLUG on the INSIDE because there is a water pan built into it in the interior of the house. This pan fills up, the little tiny pump is supposed to suck up the water and send it to the back, where the fan picks it up from the exterior pan, sends it into the evaporator coils to dispense it out. Or it runs out the back plug if it gets too full. If the pan in the inside gets too full, there is a cap and you pull out a plug and drain it into a bucket you're holding there to get the water out. Horrible. If the pump stops working like mine did, the AC will SHUT DOWN with an FL code error and will not run until you drain it. While I am waiting for the warranty guy to come back - because you have to take the AC completely out of the wall/window for them to fix this - I have had to hook up a garden hose to the fitting, and run it out the wall down by the baseboard to keep the thing running so it doesn't fill up and the water goes out the hose to the outside. Who ever heard of such a ridiculous stupid hookup to have possible leaks inside your house or having to hold a bucket up there to drain the water if the tiny little pump can't keep up or gets plugged? This is about the dumbest design I've ever seen. Not to mention, the remote is just a plain old remote with buttons, no visible feedback on the remote itself. And if you have it installed up the wall like I do, you really don't know what it's getting set to when pressing the remote buttons, without getting up and actually looking up there to see it. This is stupid, and Midea definitely has GE beat bigtime as far as the remote goes. I own both. The GE is a bit quieter, but much more of a PITA to use with this remote, and obviously it broke down within just a few months of installation. I cannot be without one in my home office in the Arizon heat, so I actually had to drill a 1 inch hole in the wall to let the water go out a hose while waiting for the warranty repair. You decide. Do you want possible leaks inside your home from a non-conventional design unlike any other jwindow AC on the market? Do you want to hold a bucket up there to drain the thing? Do you want to have an AC with a remote that's straight out of the 80's? I'm thoroughly disappointed. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
I do not recommend this A/C. I have another brand of U inverter A/C (starts with M) and it performs much better and was cheaper. This A/C is pretty noisy on the high setting, which is the only setting on which it will actually cool the space. If any other setting is used, it is much more quiet, but it turns off prematurely and never reaches the set temperature. The actual temperature on any setting other than "high" is several degrees higher than the set temperature. The A/C does not have physical buttons -- you touch the hard plastic case instead. If you reach for anything and brush against the A/C, the buttons are accidentally activated. They do not feel responsive and I do not have confidence that they will work long-term. You have to press the on/off switch twice every single time you use it. The included remote control has no LED screen, is cheap plastic, and you cannot tell what option has been selected when you press a button. E.g., you press the "mode" button to scroll through the modes, but you have to guess which mode has actually been selected. The other A/C I mentioned above has an LED screen and you can see which option you have selected. Amazon shipped this item with some of the installation materials missing. I had to obtain them directly from GE. To GE's credit, they did ship me a new set. They get one additional star for good customer service. I have not tried to connect the WiFi. I do not yet know whether it is as energy efficient as it is supposed to be. I have purchased several GE large appliances in the past, and they mostly held up well. GE appliances purchased in the past few years have not performed as well. Message to GE: You need to deliver quality for your higher price or else your competition will get my business. ... show more

  • It's fine, make sure you measure your window sill
Size: 10300 BTU Style: Inverter Color: White
Not as nice as the Midea U shaped AC unit. This AC unit is "fine". The remote is super basic. Biggest issue i have is small; after a while, the AC unit appears to change the mode from cold to ECO and the blower goes from AUTO to low, on it's own. So it will essentially shut off when it reaches the desired temp but when it changes those modes, it's no longer maitaining that temp. Pretty annoying, that's as far as it goes. Like I said, it blows cold, it's pretty quiet but the Midea is best. The midea doesn't change modes away from what you set, even after turning it off. The midea is quieter as well. ... show more
