I was able to install the thermostat quickly and easily by simply following the step by step instructions in the app. The thermostat works great and I love having the ability to monitor and control my temperature remotely. I’m an engineer and I think I might have figured out how to install and use the software as well as the thermostat, but I am still not sure. The onboarding process asks questions that are difficult to answer and there is basically zero help in answering them aside from “call us.” Do you think I am going to call an organization that is this bad at UX design? I ended up needing to pull the C wire from my air handler, which required a multimeter and the ability to read a circuit diagram. The whole process took about 8 hours over two days. I really like this because of the additional power supply you could add (we have a Nest that constantly needs to be recharged). Unfortunately, when we went to go install the power supple to the HVAC, we realized that you NEED a control panel of sorts inside your HVAC system, otherwise you are out of luck. Maybe we could have done some jerry rigging to have it behind the thermostat in the wall, but we aren't electricians and were already frustrated enough turning on and off the power. I will change this if we can get it working with some professional help. However, the table on the Amazon site says this is battery powered. It is not. Maybe the installation is easy for some systems, but it was very difficult for ours to see where to go next.
