Okay, I love the unit, especially at the price point. It was packaged well, and easy to get the box off of it. The back radiator fins were all straight. Without tearing it apart, it looks well made, and the Styrofoam ducting inside is on the top of what I've seen over the years. The coils looked well made and had four layers I think. I normally don't care, but I like the look of the machine. Easy to put in, it's a window AC.. Remote is simple with big buttons, no mystery on the on device buttons. I haven't set up the wifi, for me I don't see the point, also it wants me to unplug it and plug it back in. —That leads me to the one thing that was almost a problem. The power cord.. The cord is fine, and I don't see super long cords on these machines in general, but the cord leaves the right side bottom and my plug was on the left side, just around the corner of the room. I haven't measured it. It's not insane far away or anything. The one I removed barely reached, but it had the cord on the left. Personally, I would pay the extra $2 for them to through a couple more feet on it. This house is weird, and I didn't think about it. Also, not sure the cord length, but it should be there in the info. Anyway, make sure to keep this in mind, I managed to slide it all the way to one side of the window, and the cord runs diagonal, lol. Anyway, I got it running. And me and my cat are enjoying freezing our asses off in here. The blower is good, I'll see if I can tack on the thermal image I took right after I plugged it in. Anyway, for the price and that Amazon let's you do installments, at least now, I'm happy. ... show more

I thought it would do what i needed shhhhhheeee... it cooled a two room area. Matter bed room and a small bed room. In Texas heat. That's saying something.

A REMINDER TO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. GE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NOT HELPFUL. LOOK ELSEWHERE. UPDATED REVIEW: So already kind of disliking this unit, I called GE customer service for troubleshooting help. My unit was dripping water from the vents. I already checked to make sure the unit was installed properly, so I needed more help. The representative told me this model is considered a “throw away” unit, so there is no warranty or replacement parts. So you’re basically screwed. Why would you sell this? Amazon won’t help either because the return window was only one month. Love that it stops working properly 2 months in. DONT BUY THIS UNIT. My crappy knob operated window unit worked better than this in an attic. Original: Blows cool air, but no matter which way I turn the panels, the air blows in one direction. For a $300 window unit, this shouldn’t be a problem ... show more

Pros: Cooled my 2nd floor apt. down in a hurry the day it was installed it was 85°F. It performs well. Is lighter and smaller than previous GE 8,000 BTU a.c. Is actually rated at 8,100 BTU. Only took 2 tries to set up WiFi. Had to turn off, unplug, plug back in, turn on, then it was good to go to set up. I like the appearance. Noise level is acceptable. I need the white noise. Cons: Had to add foam behind the temp sensor since it's mounted on the cooling fins. On a 90°F day, it wasn't keeping up. I then lowered the height of the fan I have by it to make sure warm air is going into the front of a.c. After that, it worked great. Removable front panel wouldn't fit back on the same way it came off. The bottom tabs wouldn't go all the way back in. Notice gap in 2nd photo on bottom of front panel between it and the bezel. Edit: Too much temp fluctuation. Set at 75, it kicks in at 76 and kicks out at 74. Previous 2003 GE did a better job at maintaining set temp until it turned into a clunker. ... show more

I am impressed thus far. I placed it in my bedroom window which blows toward the doorway which opens into the dining room/living room. I have to say this a/c is keeping my bedroom/dining/living rooms unexpectedly cool! This lil unit blows super chilly air. The remote is mostly ok, except I can't figure out one combination, but a simple press of the finger on the actual a/c solves that. (That may just be me?) The only thing that was difficult, truly, was the weight. I'm 5'2 and am fairly strong but whew, if you need to move it in a tight area, be prepared as it is heavy. I eventually managed it (with a series of pick-up/set down movements) - and it started right up - thankfully. The interface is nice and clean - I like that. Noise - aaah, it's a bit noisy but it's well worth it. Airflow - has some adjustments so no complaints -Value - gotta give it top marks. I took forever to decide on this unit, and glad I did. If it lasts a few years, it will become a 'great' purchase. So, thus far all thumbs up! ... show more

I really wanted to love it. At first it worked great, cooled the bedroom down quickly, and conveniently has an app that controls all of the features. But since we’d plugged it in after it sitting out, we’ve noticed it doesn’t cool nearly as much as it should for being on 65 degrees and high fan speed. Disappointed that it only really lasted one summer. We’re still going to use it rather than buy another one, but I do wish it still cooled like it used to. It’s a little on the noisy side but I always fall asleep to it so I’m not going to complain. ... show more
