As I sat at my desk one evening reading through many mixed reviews, my eyelids began to grow heavy and my soul weary. Would I ever find a product that didn’t have reviews featuring photos of a torched power strip and caps lock warnings of buyer beware? Would I ever stop trying to understand what makes a power strip good? Would I ever stop scrolling? As I asked myself this question, I began to ponder about the days in which people didn’t read reviews about power strips, much less write them. Surely we weren’t all always savvy consumers. Remember the days you’d walk into a store and buy a power strip? You likely never paid attention to any specifications. But now times are different. Now we have access to the horror stories associated with every product under the sun, and we can compare the specifications of one power strip to another despite the fact that we have no idea what these differences really mean. We now have stars, and you're kidding yourself if you think consumers will settle for anything less than 4 out of 5 stars. Times have changed. Like most people, we have a ton of wires and electronic devices throughout our house that needs to be plugged in and the average two wall outlets is never enough to fulfill our growing needs, especially in the smart home era. We normally purchase the Amazon Basics power strips, but found these GE ones for slightly cheaper and decided to pick them up. They came fully functioning and in packs of two. The power strips do not provide any special functions like emergency shut offs or power saving features, but what most important in all power strips is that it is grounded in case of electrical discharge. Our rating scale Design: 5/5 Utility: 5/5 Effectiveness: 5/5 Noticeable flaws: We can't find any noticeable flaws other than the fact that this strip is not a surge protector nor the light switch lights up when it turns on like other strips (which can make it difficult to figure out whether the strip is on or not unless you turn it on). Other than that, this strip does what it was built for. Our answers to the frequently asked questions: How many Joules is this? This power strip is not a surge protector and does not provide a maximum voltage to protect your electronics. We recommend plugging small items and nothing too large like an AC unit, refrigerator, or even a desktop for an extended amount of time. Do these have 2 or 3 prongs? They all come in three prongs. Is the on/off switch lighted? No, the on and off switch comes in a dark red color and does not light like other switches which can be difficult to tell if the power strip is on or not. Overall, a great buy if you can get them up on sale. We would recommend picking one up if you need to plug in all those electronic devices that you laying around your house or office.     • DO NOT PURCHASE- Not all of the plugins on the power strip work!!!

I've never reviewed anything on Amazon, and I've been purchasing products weekly for 10 years. These power strips are by far the worst things I've ever bought! Here is what really upset me... I purchased two power strips and only two of the plugins on each of the power strips worked!! So I asked for an exchange thinking I would get two new power strips that would work. Well, I sent two that didn't work back to the company, and they send me two new power strips, BUT the two new power strips they send me also did NOT work correctly!!! The last two plugins on those power strips would not work!! So I basically just gave up and ordered power strips from another company. ***I also found out after I had exchanged the two first power strips for two new ones (that also did not work), I could not get a refund. I'm very disappointed in GE and I will never purchase from them again. ***I feel like the least they could do was refund me the 8 dollars I spend on non-working power strips. ... show more

Used for 1 month .. heard a crackling today and after searching my house.. found this sparking and smoking!! If I went to work, it would have burned my house down!!!! So so unsafe!! Tried to email seller and couldn’t.. supposedly has a “safety shutoff and lifetime warranty” but this didn’t do what it was supposed to!! So so mad!!! I’m just glad I hear the noise before it was too late. By the time I u plugged it and the cords (3) my fire alarms went off... ... show more

    • Great, when you need to avoid a surge protector

These days it seems that most ( if not almost all) power strips have a surge protector built in. However you shouldn't daisy-chain surge protectors, so if you already have a main surge protector, in my case an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), you need to avoid further surge proctors on its outlets. These power strips do the job very well. I wish the cord was a foot or two longer and I could have done without the power switch, but that is very minor. I've used them for over two years and they worked without a hitch, so now they were my first choice, when placing another order. ... show more

I like to have some power strips in the guest rooms so that company can charge up all their devices. These really are exactly what I was looking for. The length is perfect for the outlets I have and the rooms configuration. I had some others but they decided to return 'home' with some of our company. Imagine that! The price was right and these are well made and have a nice on off switch. No more chargers on the bar in the kitchen or dead batteries.
