It's sturdy and serves a purpose. My Contractor did the install so I can't comment on the ease or difficulty to install, but it looked simple and straight forward if you have tile drilling experience, which I don't. I decided on this one because I was trying to match up a grab bar with the shower door handle which is ladder style. The price was also good. I am told that builder grade fixtures are higher in quality than the off-the-shelf, DIY, Lowes or HD items. That maybe true because my contractor noticed immediately the color difference in the metal between all my other polished chrome fixtures. This has a slight yellow coloring compared to the others that are dark gray and shinier. After the install a d closer inspection I see a spot that could indicate poor plating and possible rusting in the future. I am not making a big deal of it because I doubt anyone will notice the color difference if I don't tell, plus it's my shower so there won't be a line of spectators. I ended up buying this myself via Amazon because of the low inventory and shipping timeline issues with a lot of companies and that builders deal with due to Covid backlogs. With this grab bar install and just a few minor fixes I can safely say this remodel is almost in my rear view mirror. Thank the Lord. ... show more

I read other reviews that this Gatco bar was had to install, and I have to agree. My contractor drilled and installed this bar in my new shower, that he also installed and which looks fabulous. However, he literally spent half a day installing one bar, and I could hear him cussing as he did it. When I felt he should've been done, I asked him how it was going, and he said this was the worst grab bar to install that he'd ever done. Yikes! He's done a lot. Anyway, he finished, but one of the square covers keeps popping off. Not sure what that's about, but it happens many times throughout the day. My man ended up bending the square cover inward in hopes that it would stop. So far so good. Anyway, if you get this beautiful bar, and it really is beautiful, just be prepared for cussing during installation. ... show more

We love these bars and have several. They are really strong and at the same time stylish. We use two of the bars as towel racks. But. Advance planning is required. There must be blocking in the wall to attach them. They are only as strong as the attachment points.
