First of all, depending on how you intend to use this, consider the 15,000 BTU unit instead. This works OK and will certainly come in handy if/when I ever suffer a prolonged power outage. I should have bought this years ago since I live in Florida, but thankfully, I have not been affected by a power outage after a hurricane. One of the primary reasons I purchased this unit was to be able to do some hot water bath canning. I have a glass top stove and they are not recommended for hot water bath canning. It's very hot here right now and I really didn't want to use this outside to do a batch of jelly. After doing quite a bit of research I felt safe using it inside. I did purchase a carbon monoxide detector 'just in case.' I also opened a couple of windows to created a cross draft and had no issues at all. My daughter also told me she has seen cooking shows on TV where they use this type of stove. I realize the manufacturers have to put the recommendation to only use outside due to liability. And I certainly would not use it in a small, enclosed space like a tent or shed. I'm not recommending anyone to use it indoors, but just saying do your own research and then make an informed decision. My only issue is that even using the propane fuel it took a very long time to get the hot water up to the temp needed. I don't blame the stove for that .. it's rated for only 8,000 BTU I believe and I thought that would be sufficient to use with a hot water bath. It did get the water hot enough to boil, just took a long time to get to that point. It seems well built for a camp stove. I have always preferred gas stoves to electric so I will probably use this from time to time depending on what I'm cooking. I ordered the 15,000 BTU version of this stove after making the jelly since I intend to do more hot water bath canning. While I have never used the butane canisters, I like the flexibility and option to use butane if I so choose. The storage case is nice to have and the set up is fairly easy. I do think the instructions could be a little more clear about setting up the propane option. Watching some YouTube videos it appears they have made changes to this unit over the years and I was unable to find a recent video that matched the propane connections exactly that are on the unit I received. I think this would make a great camping stove. It's small, lightweight and can be set up in just a few minutes. It may not last as long as a Coleman, but it's not priced like a Coleman either.

Bought it for 32.99 at time of purchase. I was looking for a backup alternative to heating things up while camping. The cool bits: -This thing can pump out a good amount of heat. I've used it on a couple camping trips and mainly used it for boiling water and heating up food in a pan. I've yet to make a gourmet multicourse meal with it but, hey, why would you buy this for that? Brings water in my aluminum kettle to a boil very quickly. I swear I turn around for a bit and its spitting steam out by the time I look back. -Portable. Take this with a grain of salt because that can mean different things in camping. I'm not saying this is your next backpacking buddy. I'm saying comes in a nice black plastic carry case for your carry-to-car convenience. You flip the top grill upside down so it goes into the unit and its snug in its little black house. -Easy to use. If you even just glance do a passing glance at the manual which is like 1 page with pictures, you'll be able to understand all of the TWO things you need to know about this gas stove. I've yet to try out the propane mode of this but the other reviews says it works perfectly. Butane is so cheap and available. The ehh bits: -Honestly not really anything bad to say about the unit. It does what it needs to do and it does it well. You'd really have to TRY to mess this up for you to have complaints. -The grill top is a decent size but if you're trying to heat up something with a small diameter, it may not sit on the grill top. Keep that in mind if you want to heat up your aluminum camp mug with it. TLDR: Its a simple machine for a specific purpose but it does it very well. Not really anything to speak badly about as long as you're not unreasonable with your demands. Its a steal at around 30 bucks. You can use if for camping, emergencies, cookouts etc. World is your oyster.

Overall its good. Its super flimsy and I had to add an o-ring at the propane valve to feel confident it wasn't leaking... BUT for the price and dual-fuel capability it is a pretty nice grill. For tailgating or camping out of a truck or small pop-up its probably great. You aint packing this thing into a pack though and its nowhere near as capable as an open fire or the grills that come in an RV. The carrying case is basically made of paper so you'll need to store it in a way that doesn't get crushed or dropped. Flame control has a broad spectrum of settings so that's nice. I have a feeling that if you drop it once or twice you'll be buying new one so just make sure its set on a sturdy table. A lot of the housing will get very hot when cooking so its not something you can move around once lit. Its a good grill, you just have to know what you're buying.

UPDATE: So glad I bought this. I use it every single camping trip and even at home when I want to sear a steak without smoking up the kitchen. Works great and hasn't failed me yet. Both Propane and Butane bottles work interchangeably. Found a local source for cheap ($1 each) butane bottles and just keep one disconnected in the stove for quick use. Just flip it around connect it up and you are cooking. The butane bottles last forever! Easy clean-up and storage. Lightweight and just ticks away in a corner of the camp box with the included carry case. Durable and hasn't failed me yet. Would definitely recommend and purchase again. Only thing that I feel could improve is the flimsy case but it gets the job done. ------------------------------ Just received this stove so this is a "first impression" sort of review. The burner came well packaged and in a plastic case. The case seems a bit flimsy but the burner itself appears to be of good quality. I immediately connected the propane tank adapter to test it out. Connected a fresh tank to the adapter and immediately noticed that it would take some fiddling with the tank position to get the burner to sit flat with the tank attached. You have to balance the tank position and the burner or the weight of the tank will make the burner not sit flush on the table. After I got that sorted out I went straight for the boil water test. I bought this so that on our annual camping trip we could have fresh coffee in the morning without having to mess around with a campfire or wood stove, a process that traditionally takes about 30-45 mins before you get to enjoy that first cup-o-Joe. Lighting the burner was simple, just turn the gas adjuster knob unit the igniter clicks. It lit right up. Placed a pot of about 8 cups of water on the burner and set my timer. 8 mins later... voila! Boiling water for coffee, tea, etc. SOOO much easier and faster than stoking a fire. I will update this review once I've gotten to field test it but so far the outlook is good. Only criticism would be the flimsy plastic case. I don't really see that lasting. Cheers!

After watching countless cooking vids where these burners were used instead of a stovetop (hard to film a stove top where you only see the back of the cook), I bought one. Easy to use with butane canisters. Like CRAZY easy. A little more work with propane, but once you set it up a couple of times it becomes second nature. Propane is more easily available, so make sure you get a unit that can use both. I like this unit so much I got two for my kids. They live in hurricane alley, so 'boil water' warnings are common. Those warnings come when the power is out....so this 'hotplate' answers both of those problems. I grew up using Coleman stoves with their white gas and iffy warm up times in winter. And no one carries white gas anymore. This little burner far outperforms my camp stoves for speed of boil and ease of operation.

An absolute Must Have. These are an essential in a prolonged blackout or camping. Comes with a good secure plastic case and works flawlessly. I've only used it as a butane stove, but eventually I'd like to try it with propane. I was honestly a bit trepid about using it, as it's been over 40 years, since I'd used Coleman camp stoves. But, this was a breeze to use and I couldn't have asked for more. A couple cautions I might add: Butane and Propane cans have to be stored UPRIGHT. I empathize this, because I have seen camping stove cases that are made to be kept with the stove lying flat and then the butane or propane fuel canisters lie flat on top of the stove. But, this causes the canister to lie flat, instead of upright. There are 2 reasons to keep them stored upright. One is for safety reasons and the other is because you could potentially lose some of your gas. But I purchased a canister bag that holds them upright and that's how they need to be stored. The only questional step of using your stove, is when you install the butane canister into the side of the unit. You have to line up the arrow and then twist it on and flip down the littlr retainer bar. But, it seemed wobbly to me and I thought it was supposed to be tight. But, it is supposed to be a little wobbly, so all is good. I have seen people do reviews where they state it doesn't get hot enough to boil water or heat food. They may have gotten a defective unit, because mine reached a water boiling pint in just a few minues (lid on) I highly recommend this system. They are cheap enough, so that everyone should have one on hand for emergencies. With winter weather getting stronger and high winds knocking out power, you need one of these. Don't forget to have a little ventilation-like a cracked window or open the door briefly every few minutes. Yeah, I know it's cold outside, but don't forget to Ventilate a little and have a fire extinguisher and cabon monoxide detector close by. People die every year, because of carbon monoxide. An invisable and odorless gas that can be deadly. Any burning source can put you at high risk or carbon monoxide. Take just a couple extra steps and STAY SAFE. I put a small piece of masking tape on my case, so I know which side is up. I also use a magic marker to put an X on the can, so I know which one I'm using. The last thing you want (other than carbon monoxide poisoning) is that you have a bunch of partially used cans. Thank you for reading my review and I wish you a Happy and Properous NEW yEAR.
