  • The little stove that could
We love this little guy! We have used it for camping in rain and wind conditions. We created a "hot tent" setup with a 10x10 canopy + 4 plastic sides that we attached to the canopy walls - not a fully closed space, but good enough to block the wind and rain. This little stove is amazing! Pro: starts up easily. It is well designed to pull through the chimney and it has oxygen control slats at the bottom for air intake. You get some but not much smoke when you open the door. It burns hot! Look at the photo to see the chimney glow red. It puts out heat well. We even cook on it. The side metal bars that fold out are great for drying clothes or keeping food warm - they seem sturdy, we've put pots with food on them and no issues with sturdiness. The portability and storage is great: the chimney fits inside the stove, the legs fold down, the side racks are handles. Con: it is a wood guzzler. I mean you really go through the wood quickly. The size is small so you need to have your wood chopped at half-length. This is annoying when camping: we had to buy a portable saw. You are almost always going to be chopping wood, that's how quickly this burns. You have to watch it every 15 min as it will burn out and you lose heat. But this is the case with all small stoves. Going forward, we are pre-cutting wood at home. The air intake control is there, but I find it not very helpful: i could not get that sweet spot of slower burning: either it burned very hot, or i choked it and it died down. I tried many times to get it right. I wish there had been a better way to control this than the front slats. The door glass got dark and sooted very quickly. You have to clean it once a day if you want to see the fire. I give it 5 stars because it does well what we wanted it to do: put out heat, no smoke, portabile. ... show more

  • Great hot tent wood stove
Color: Black-LOGO
Seems sturdy and well made. I haven’t used it yet outside of just seeing how easy it would be to take apart and put together. Everything looks great. I will come back after using it and report any field failures if any. Metal seems sturdy and well made. Should theoretically work for years. Excited to try it and report back with my field trails ... show more

Pretty decent little Workhorse of a camp stove. Bought this for use in our 12 ft x 8 ft inflatable tent. And I'm surprised by the amount of comfort it was able to bring into the such a large space. It was into the mid to lower 30° some nights and you were still roasty toasty in our tent. Even with several air Flats open for ventilation. There are some limitations with something like this however and that mainly comes from its size. Firstly the ash Tray at the bottom can fill up before a full night use. This isn't a terribly bad thing as you can just either take the ashes outside and dump them in your fire pit or put them in a small metal bucket to let them cool down without having to leave the comfort of the tent. You will not be able to fit a absolute metric ton of firewood into this thing but you do not need an absolute metric ton of firewood. You can fit easily some of those long lasting compressed/recycle fire logs. The Limited size of it does create one downside and that is that managing the airflow becomes a little bit more of a problem with managing the fire. I'm not talking about smoke I'll get to that later I'm talking about feeding the fire air. Position correctly the ashtray which is also the intake valve for the air will supply more than enough air for the fire to keep burning. Depending on the size of the wood that you're using it can take a little bit positioning to make sure that the wood is allowing as much air as the fire needs to go through especially with the ashtray if it's getting more full. Once you figure it out though you'll have fire burning so hot the chimney will start glowing. And I mean that chimney will go so don't hang anything off the chimney. Now that does bring me to a downside which is that if you are using any wood that has a lot of fat and Spark coming off of it the Top Flume does a pretty good job of dispersing the smoke but it's not foolproof in terms of catching those Sparks. Our tent does have a tiny hole in it from when Aaron spark went up the chimney out and fell back on to the top of the tent nothing caught fire it just burned a hole through it. But we will be taking steps in the future to expand the fireproof material around our tents chimney hole. The little racks on the side are surprisingly sturdy. We had a percolator full of hot water on one and a cast iron skillet on the other and the other side shows any signs of undo wear or tear for having had such heavy weights on them. For extended periods of time In terms of portability I have no complaints about the product. All the pieces of the chimney flu fit together very nicely inside of the stove when you're ready to disassemble it. All you have to do is take the Tiffany off piece by piece put it inside the compartment close the door latch it and take out the ashtray cuz it will slide out otherwise grab it by the handles and you're ready to go. Now as far as smoke goes I highly recommend giving your stove a test burning outside in the open air before you stick it in the tent I'm sure that the first time we use the stove it had some small leakage of smoke probably from the chimney flu and the stove cap. However the issue seem to disappear after a couple hours of burning wood. And when I suspect happened is that the soot from the burning log kind of found those gaps and filled them in making the stove remarkably airtight if I must say. The second night we used it we didn't have any issues with smell or odor or smoke or nothing. The stove might have a smell the first time you use it I am unsure about this however as I had also tied a fiberglass insulation strip around one of the chimneys where it made contact with our tents chimney hole because I wanted to give it an extra layer of insulation and protection. So I am unable to verify whether or not the smell came from the stove or the fiberglass insulation but there was a kind of a funky smell the first time I used it but that was not present at all the second night. So any discomfort or annoyance I might have found from the first night as far as smell or Smokehouse would have been easily resolved by having a test fire outside. So I would absolutely recommend this stove for anybody looking to do some outdoor cooking and or keeping a space warm. The only reason that it does not receive a five star review is because the ashtray is slightly limiting and the chimney top does not do a good enough job at preventing Sparks from Landing too closely around it. Both of which are extremely fixable problems just by having a metal bucket near the stove for easy disposal of the ash. Or adding an additional layer of fireproof blanket or material around your tents chimney hole ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I I tested this out in the backyard when it got down to low 40s, high 30s. We were in a TEEPEE style tent and it got HOT in there. We had to shed layers. The only downside is due to the small volume, the wood burns quick so you have to add wood regularly. This became an issue when we used it in 25 degree weather with 25 mph winds and gusts to 40. The wind chill was 11. The stove did it's job and kept the tent warm, but again I woke up several times to add wood. Nothing against the stove it works great. ... show more

  • Good but few downsides!
Color: Black-LOGO
The build quality is solid overall, but the ash-tray knob broke on the very first try and I struggled to close it properly. The manual mentioned a second knob, but mine didn’t include one. On the bright side, it didn’t leak smoke during the first burn, which I was worried about after reading other reviews. The color of the body stayed the same, though the pipes did discolor and after first use I had hard time separating the pipes as they were super stuck. The biggest downside is the size. Standard firewood from Walmart or Home Depot doesn’t fit, so I had to cut the pieces down. That was such a hassle. I originally planned to return it, but after using it on our trip and seeing how well it worked, I decided to keep it. It would be nice if it came with cleaning tools, though. Soot builds up fast, especially on the window, and I found myself wiping it constantly. ... show more
