This pergola is 12' 3" x 9' 2", not 10x10 as was stated when ordered. Although, it worked out better for us because we had the room. It looks great! The box is very heavy! It may require two people to move it. This is a good quality pergola that was made with attention to detail. It has the appearance of real wood. It is sturdy and well made. The directions to assemble it were very clear. Each piece is labeled to make that process easier. However, it did take two of us about six hours to assemble. I've put together a list of some tips that will hopefully help someone who purchases this item. It looks very nice in our backyard, and in our opinion, was worth the work we put into it. This project goes much faster with two people. If it had been just one of us it would have taken twice as long. Towards the end of the assembly process you will need two people in order to raise it, move it, etc... Helpful Hints: I highly suggest having two saw horses (or something similar) to lay the beams on while putting them together. The pieces are long and sitting on the ground for that many hours, trying to put them all together is really hard on the back. Having them elevated also makes it easier to move from piece to piece while putting the screws in. A step stool or ladder is needed for the final assembly sections. A small Allen wrench is included. If you only use that, as opposed to a power drill or a driver, it might take days or weeks, as opposed to hours, to put it together! There are around 300 screws. Using the drill first to get each screw started, then the driver, so as to not strip it out, worked best. On that note...each post includes three pieces. The pieces line up easier if you start all of the screws, but don't tighten them until all three pieces are in place. I started tightening each screw as I put them in and then had to loosen several in order to get the holes in the other pieces to line up properly. Just don't forget to tighten everything when you are finished with each post. A rubber mallet is also helpful for inserting the plastic decorative end pieces. They fit very tightly and are difficult to get into the top poles. Rubber Bands: If you have some laying around, or even some string, they will come in very handy when installing the tabs that hold the canvas. Once you insert the plastic tabs they end up sliding around a lot and get lost in the beam. We had to constantly fish them out by turning the beam over until we figured out the rubber band trick. I would suggest carefully sliding the three on for each beam and then quickly wrap them together with a rubber band to keep them from going back inside the hollow beam until the final assembly. This should save you some frustration. I've included some pictures of this with my review. Once it was all completed we anchored the posts into the concrete using Tapcon screws. Pre-drilling the holes is a must. These type of screws were NOT included. Hopefully all of this helps. It's a very nice pergola!

Really nice pergola / gazebo but this was an immense pain for us to put together. The directions are vague, difficult to read and follow. WOW, it took us days. We ended up having to find similar pergolas on Amazon and download their installation instructions. Once we figured out what we did wrong, putting it together went much quicker the second round. At the very end, we did need four people to hoist the pergola up onto the leg extensions. This pergola is LARGE. It's tall. I hope you have a big enough backyard. We do thankfully but we also have concrete in our backyard patio area, so we will need to eventually anchor it down into the concrete otherwise a thunderstorm might knock this thing around a bit. We really like that you can roll open or closed the cover. Keep it open during storms or windy days.

Purchasing larger build-it-yourself items online can often be daunting, but I can confidently say that this pergola exceeded my expectations! Here’s why I’m thrilled with my experience. First, it's extremely heavy! Be prepared for its weight! If you have mobility issues or struggle with heavy lifting, you'll need to phone a friend to get it to your backyard after delivery. It took several of us to carry it around back, so teamwork is key! Next, it's very large. So you absolutely need a step stool or a very tall friend to help put it together. The instructions aren't the most descriptive, but if you've ever built something from IKEA, you should be able to figure this out. Once it’s assembled, you’ll be impressed by its sturdiness and high quality. It truly transforms the look and atmosphere of your yard. I can’t wait to see how it withstands the Northeastern winter and to set up new patio furniture next spring. I’ll make sure to update you if any issues arise. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this pergola!

10 Stars would be a better measure of how I feel about this product! Assembly was long, so be ready, but not supper difficult. I recommend having a minimum of two people to put this together! Once completed, this pergola looked amazing, and the manufacturer definitely paid much attention to detail! This product provides great amount of shade, which is nice because our porch takes a beating from the sun. The beams and other parts are sturdy and appear to feel that they are made for the long haul! I had no other issues or missing parts. Great product!

This is a nice pergola but you should have a helper or 2 to get it together. The directions are unclear in a few places. If you don't have experience building stuff like this, it could take you a while to figure it out. Otherwise, there are parts where you just have to let intuition guide you. It is a really nice sun block and had made the summer on my back patio more enjoyable. Winter is on it's way, so we will see how the frame holds up to snow, because I am certainly not taking it down for storage.
