Great basic metal detector from a respected manufacturer. The Garrett 200 is a great detector for the price. It does not have all the "bells and whistles" of more expensive detectors, but it does have built in functions found on more expensive machines. I purchased it to supplement my more expensive detector. I took it out into my back yard to test it. It performed extremely well. Do not expect this detector to compete with more expensive detectors, but it performed very good and will bring hours of fun to both entry level detector hobbyists and more experienced directorists. The only difficulty I had was during assembly. The S stem and housing was a very tight fit into the upper/lower stem. It took a bit of pressure and wiggling to get it into place for it to lock into place. The stem length is adjustable, and once I got into place it adjusted without problems. To be on the “lower end” of its product line, it’s very accurate and the price was good too! It’s a lot of fun and I think it’s a detector whether you’re just starting out or are a more advanced user in the field.

Just bought the nokta legend and honestly the Garrett 200 is better and easier for out of the box go. As the new multi frequency are very tricky and the big coils suck for discrimination as the ace 200 comes with the perfect size. But after I get a 6inch coil for the legend I feel it will be a lot better, but that's another 100$ so money money money... But the biggest thing is the simplex+ 300$ish and legend 500$ish are both fully submersible up to 10 feet. And once you get used to the setting I hear it's a lot better. ... show more

This thing is awesome. We unboxed it, turned it in and then searched around an old moonshine still on our property, a good 1/4 mile from any homes. This was the result of an hours work, plus a very old cast iron pipe and barrel band. The sensitivity is great, the smallest nail will make it chirp and every chirp we came across yielded some metal. ... show more

This detector works great right out of the box,, Very easy to run and work very few controls to navigate through,, Only takes four AA batteries which is very efficient,, the only problem I have and Garrett should really try to look into is their coils are heavy it makes the machine feel front heavy when you're swinging it and the arm cuff is not long enough in the back to balance out the weight,, Other than that it works really good,, ... show more

detector. Bought this to give as a birthday present for a relative. He said it was OK, but he decided he didn't want it and gave it back to me, at which point I returned it. First, I am not a treasure hunter. I bought this because my 86 year old father lost his wedding band (over 60 years of marriage), in his backyard while planting roses and other small plants in one of his many gardens. He has tons of roses so I wasn't sure we would ever find it. I have never used a metal detector before but decided to give the Ace 200 a shot because he was so distraught. I literally found his ring in about 10 minutes buried under ~ 6" of earth. For the look on his face, and my mother's face, it was worth every penny spent. I have nothing else to compare the Ace 200 to. This was my first metal detector, but if it found a small gold wedding band buried under 6 inches of earth, I'm sure it can find plenty of other things too. ... show more
