Bought the 1030 plus for road cycling after my 1000 was dying. Was easy to copy files over from my old Garmin. Only negative was unable to copy odometer over to new. Battery life is so much better & is compatible with my Di2 setup.

The battery life is awesome. The screen is bright and easy to read. The touch screen works well. Paired with a heart rate monitor and power meter pedals there’s more data than I know what to do with. I love it.

    • Easy to read, use
Over the years I have used at least 2 other types of Cycling computers. The Wahoo Elemnt and the more basic Garmin. I found it difficult fumbling to press the correct buttons to switch between screens/functions, etc. while on the out front mount. The 1030 plus has a touch screen (sensitivity can be adjusted) and simple and quick to swipe. You can customize and save multiple screens. I have it set up as a very basis 4 field screen, and can swipe to screens with more detailed information. I rarely use the Navigation, I know my routes before hand. I don't want navigation taking me down roads I want to avoid. I do save previously routes and can follow the same route on other occasions to compare my performance, and see time-distance to my destinations. Only drawback, cannot swipe screens with full finger gloves. But then finding and pressing the correct buttons with full finger gloves on other units is cumbersome. The price is high, but in my opinion, this is the best you can get and I am happy with the investment. The screen is larger than most others, (smaller than a smart phone) but find it not to be obtrusive. ... show more

I’ve owned 4 previous models of the Garmin Edge for cycling so I am very familiar with them. The 1030 Plus has basically the same features as the popular 830 that I replaced but with a larger display and longer battery life. Everything else including the software is about the same. The 1030 plus seems rather expensive compared to the 830 because you are not getting a whole more for your money. I love the larger 1030 touch screen color display because the Map navigation and custom Garmin Apps crammed with lots of cycling data are way easier to read during cycling. Also, the battery life is way better for those all day rides. If you want the KOM of cycling computers, look no further. ... show more
