  • Old guy with bad eyes loves watch
Style: Pro Ballistics
I don’t normally take the time to write reviews. I do read everyone else’s. I suspect I’m not alone. This watch impressed me enough to cause me to write a review. First, to all of the review writers whom say it is too dim to read. BOLOGNA. Yeah, out of the box it definitely is, for sure. I’m old (let’s go with 60ish) and my eyes suck (thanks Mom and Dad). Out of the box I was worried. Okay, I was very worried. It was dim and tiny font. Even with my 3.75 readers, I needed a magnifier and a flashlight. I fumbled my way though the buttons and menus (I don’t read manuals, I’m a guy). Yeah, as expected (Only men will relate) I made things worse, I accidently put it into night mode and disabled the touch screen (Quit laughing). So, you gotta visualize this old fella, with magnifier, flashlight try’n to hold a watch and manipulating buttons at the same time. Eventually, I got my inadvertent tweaks reversed over what felt like a frustrating hour (actually only 5 mins, we’re talking guy time here). I found the font option first and max’d that baby out. Then, I found the backlight option and maxed that baby out. I tossed the magnifier and flashlight aside (we don’t actually put things away). It took me about 30mins in real time (7hours guy time) to get the watch custom tweaked, connected to my Samsung S22, and connected the house WiFi. Then while playing with the Garmin App on my phone, I found where you can change the watch face! You can download different face configurations or create your own. How fricken cool is that! I’m far to lazy to create my own (I mean lack that level of creativity). However, there is one downloadable face called, “Simply Large”. Yep, tapped that. Now everything is bright, and readable. Okay, features; wow way too many to detail. I’m not sure what this watch doesn’t do. But main reason for buying the Pro Ballistics is for the applied ballistics embedded app. I haven’t been to the range with this watch and there will need to setup and configuration. But if you are shooter then all of screens make sense. At an out of the box glance, I think the custom range cards will be so cool. You load your personal DOPE cards for each weapon… and then they are on your wrist! I’m not dumping my DOPE journal, just in case. You know how personal those journals are. I recommend this watch for any shooter. Update: Have used it for several months now. The Range cards are awesome. Unexpectedly, I love the flashlight. The Nav and GPS are great! The Saphire glass is invaluable, does not scratch. No need for a screen protector. The solar helps extend time between charging. It has all of this health nonsense I find in the way though. GOAL 3200 you reached 3200 steps! Who Cares. ... show more

  • Great multi function watch.
Style: Pro Ballistics
Great watch, great battery life, lots of useful functions and tools. Tough and takes abuse on the job with no issues. Highly recommend.

  • Waiting paid off big.
Style: Pro Ballistics
For a over a year I was waiting for the Tactix 7 Pro Ballistics to be reduced in price. Just before Christmas 2024 it happened in a big way. 33% off? I pushed buy it now so fast! There are a couple of important details you need to know. 1) This watch has the MIP screen, not the Amoled. Because of this, it consumes less battery power, especially when outdoors in the bright sun because this type of screen doesn't need to be back lit and the Amoled would be consuming more power because the brightness would have to be raised considerably higher to view the screen. 2) because it's not Amoled it doesn't have the bright colors some people prefer. If you are going to be using this outside during the day and one of your requirements are good battery life, the MIP version, for most people is preferable. If you prefer the Amoled then you need to purchase the Tactix 7 Amoled which does not come with the ballistics software included like this unit does. The Tactix 7 Amoled supports the ballistics app but has to be purchased separately. 3) The solar isn't meant for charging the unit, it's simply meant to help slow the discharge rate. It's nothing like a Casio solar watch that relies solely on the sun to charge it and does so efficiently. 4) The Tactix 7 Amoled has the next generation HR detection when worn on your wrist. This unit reads really well, but is a previous generation. I use a chest strap HR detector which can be used with this unit and is better than both generations of HR detection. It responds to heart rate fluctuations immediately, where wrist worn detection is slower to respond. This unit has everything I wanted in a watch because I love cardio training, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding and shooting long range. Like I mentioned, look at both models closely before purchasing because there are several differences. I just so happened to prefer this model. ... show more

  • A must have for pilots and sailors!
Style: Pro Ballistics
The best watch I have ever had. Worth every penny and more. Why did I hesitate so much? If you are a sailor or a pilot, this watch is invaluable. It has the tide tables, that saved me several time. It gives you Metar, and TAF before you fly. It does everything and more. It has a very useful flash light, which came in so handy on several occasions. I have not used the ballistic feature. The watch is very rugged. I think the face is scratch proof. With my use it looks new after six month. It charges with solar, although not sure if it makes any difference to battery life. I charge it once a week. You can read the watch in bright sunlight and at night it has a light. It has so many features and customization that I have not been able to use them. The watch figures out if you have walked and tells you how long. You do need garmin connect on the phone to use all the features. The learning curve is steep, but really worth it. Thank you Garmin! I forgot, it also measure your blood oxygen. At 12000 ft altitude mine went down to 86%. Time to descend. ... show more

  • Nice watch with an eventual product malfunction pending
Style: Pro Ballistics
An awesome watch, unfortunately the select button corrodes and malfunctions within warranty duration. I've heard of the company replacing with a referb or potentially a new device, but it's probably a roll of the dice.

  • Perfect!
Style: Pro
I’ve been using this watch for months now, absolutely my favorite watch I’ve ever owned, so many features that take time to learn but will definitely help you with everything you need or want! Battery life is pretty good for a watch that can do everything this can, the more features you track on your Home Screen the faster the battery will die, I track my workouts and my sleep and id say I charge averagely every 17 days, I’ve also used this for backpacking and the gps works flawlessly! I know some people complain on the brightness but really it isn’t that bad. ... show more
