We purchased the GarminDrive 51 USA LM GA - Certified Refurbish. Literally a week after the "return by date of one month after purchase, the thing completely fritzed out. You cannot change the state, city...nothing. I am still trying to reach out to the seller in hopes that they will do the right thing and take this back, but so far, nothing. I'm just saying be careful and watch your return by date! I will definitely think twice before purchasing anything reconditioned again!

Took a while for me to learn how to use it effectively. In fact, I actually notified Amazon that I was returning it, but, after I finally figured out that the default search area consists of only 4 states near the active location,read the online manual to learn how to ENLARGE the search area,etc., then it was a pleasure to use. It uses a touch screen,but has a very sensitive screen. Double keying was a problem until I started using a rubber tipped stylus. I advise buying a CD adaptable mount, I got mine from Amazon and it put the Garmin screen in just the right location for viewing. The online manual needs to have an explicit example of how to find a location OUTSIDE the limits set by the default local search area.

Ugh! It seemed to work fine, but one month after buying it when I went to load the maps before taking the road trip for which I bought it, the thing just went dead. Black screen, no response. Now I'll learn my lesson and avoid refurbished electronics.

Worked well out of the box. My old NUVI 1470 failed after 5 years and (like a DOPE, I never did a backup) I was unable to transfer previously saved locations. My fault of course, but I must say that entering in new saved locations was pretty easy and allowed me to re-evaluate the priorities of my list. A “Silver Lining” I guess. I used the unit pretty much every day for 3-4 weeks, then it started acting up. On occasion, the power switch would not power up the unit for some reason. This was a recurring problem, but would resolve periodically. Another “Silver Lining” to this purchase was the awesome customer service from Amazon. No questions asked return and prompt transmission of return paperwork. Customer service = 5+ stars, Refurbished GPS = 2 stars. Averaged them together for the 3 star rating. (Yes, I know I rounded DOWN). I plan to buy a NEW Garmin next time.

Junk doesn't even turn on had it sitting on charge for a little while and nothing stay away from refurbished they clearly don't test them

What did I do before Garmin? Use it every time I drive. Tells me speed limit and my speed. Also warns of animal crossings, curves, etc. Need all the help I can get. Yes, my phone could do it, but I like the Garmin right there below my visor. Love it.

I was hoping for more functionality than what I can get on my smartphone, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I needed something more convenient for setting up daily routes with 10 to 15 stops a day. This gps was really more of a hassle and took more of my time to use for this purpose.
