  • Worth the price of admission
I started using a GPS unit for distances on the golf course to eliminate debates within my group on how far from the green we were. Ten minutes of discussing distance have been eliminated with this device. Tons of courses, easy menu navigation and the screen is visible on those bright sunny days. I also like how you can tap on a point on the hole to determine the distance. So if you want to land short of a hazard, just tap a safe spot and your distance is displayed. Ton of more options for those who like pinpointing distances. As a bonus, the unit is a launch monitor and practice aid. Shot distances are within the ballpark (+/- 5 yards maybe) and I like the tempo trainer that helps you slow down and smooth out your swing. The only nit I have is the stupid clip that is included. It's flimsy, not very useful and the rubber band design is an accident waiting to happen. Luckily I found the belt clip version that is much better. Okay... another nit. I wish the G80 stored your launch monitor data for review. Maybe upload it to the Garmin Golf app? It is a simple way to get a feel for your distances but unless you take notes on the range, you need a good memory of how each club is performing. ... show more

  • Great
One of the most important aspects of one’s golf game is knowing your distances with each club. This device helps with that tremendously. While its not a full fledged launch monitor (doesn’t measure launch angle or spin rate), it does accurately measure the most important stats (club head and ball speed). Having these stats show up instantly after every shot gives you invaluable feedback. Lets you “feel” the difference between a 130 yard, 90% shot vs a 140 yard 100% shot. Highly recommend this for anyone trying to get to the next level of their game. ... show more

  • Great GPS, even better practice tool!
This gadget is awesome! The gps accuracy has been good compared to other phone based gps systems, but it has some nice additional features. I have used the practice rounds a fair amount and really enjoy those for some backyard fun. Accuracy seems pretty close with most of my clubs. I haven't fully compared at a range, but based on historical play, it seems on. It doesn't really take direction into account so while accuracy may be close, it could be way left or right. Overall, this has been fantastic for the money, especially when it was on sale for $400. ... show more

  • Worth The Money - Still a Heavy Price Tag
Great product. Heavy price tag but does what it does very well. Easy to use, though slightly tricky on your first try. Once I got it going I saw noticeable improvement in my consistency. Initially was at around 94 mph clubhead speed and ended around 104 mph consistently towards the end of my session. Smash factor felt accurate, and I don’t question the speed on club/ball. Roll distance can be fiddled with depending on your tendency, but the carry distance was spot on +-5 yards or so. The gps is wonderful and works really well. Really enjoyed being able to move the pin around on the digital green, and was provided with multiple yardages around the green. (Front, back, center, and pin) Excited to use this indoors during the winter. Overall feels worth 375-400 bucks but hey... I’m happy with my purchase overall. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade to the G8
I’ve been using the G8 for almost 7 years and decided to pick up the G80 for the gps and launch monitor. Both work very well and the battery lasts much longer in the G80 as I could probably get 4 rounds between charges compared to 2 with my G8

  • Amazing
Was questioning my decision to pay this much, wanted the voice caddie, but it was not available so I decided to give this a chance and I'm so glad that i did. +/- 2yds vs my range finder. I didn't have a known distance on many of my clubs. I am 54yrs and i have been a single digit for many years, when measured at golf shops I thought my average speed was around 105 and distance was 280yd. I found out unfortunately that it was not. After a few rounds my driving average was 245yd, and swing speed 97mph. I was still scoring well but I was still a little deflated. I started working out and doing flexibility exercises as well as range work, the launch monitor is amazing the smash factor was key to my success i average 1.41 on smash factor now, swing speed consistently 104-107 mph, driving distance average is 292 on the range. Ive hit it well over 300yds several at times per round and at different elevations and wind conditions. The gps on it plugged in with my averages allows me to play and attack shots with confidence. Only complaint is that it has no memory or record keeping so i have to write everything down to see my progress and get my averages. I wish it had a computer download app so i could track range vs round averages. Hint hint Overall best golf gadget buy of my life. ... show more

  • Great Golf GPS
This Garmin G80 is replacing my old Garmin purchased more than 10 years ago. It works great and the color and graphics are so much better than what was available several years ago. Great Purchase!
