Product Care Instructions: Plant Dicentra Spectabilis roots in the spring after the ground has thawed and there is no longer danger of frost. Choose a location with well-drained soil that receives full sun, partial shade. Loosen soil prior to planting. 3. Dig a hole in loosened soil 6” deep. Place the bulb in the hole with the roots facing down and any sprouts facing up. Space each bulb 12” part.

So happy with this product! I have always wanted Bleeding Hearts in my garden. I’ve tried bare roots few times before from different companies but none of them grew much/lived very long or regrew the following year. This spring. I ordered this 6pk. They arrived quickly and looked healthy. I planted them right away into individual pots to see if they would sprout before I put them in the garden. All 6 sprouted within a few days of potting and 2 weeks later are now about 12-16 ” tall, and a looking well. Some even have the little heart flowers. I bought these to replace a bleeding heart plant I was gifted that I subsequently killed. I didn't want the gifter to know what a jerk I was for not taking better care of it, so I bought these on a wing and a prayer, desperately hoping they'd grow and I could update the gifter with pictures of it flowering. Well holy crap. They arrived on April 9 and there were 6 roots in the bag, all with little tiny shoots. I had to watch a YouTube video on how to plant them. (I didn't know which way was up lol.) I planted the "replacement" root in the area where I'd intended to plant the one that I'd killed, and potted the other 5, hoping at least one would start growing so I could provide proof of life (and transplant the one in my landscaping if that one didn't take off.) Imagine my sheer delight when ALL 6 began sprouting leaves within 2 weeks or so! I'm going to spare you the yapping and just include the pictures I took of the progress. Highly recommend though! I bought 6 cuttings, and 5 of them survived and bloomed this spring. They're growing larger still, and I expect they'll survive the winter without issue. I'm in zone 7A.

I order many plants and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with this company. All of the roots that I received were mature and had a good quantity of roots. I received 7 bulbs instead of the 6, as advertised. The plant was well packaged with great instructions.
