  • Useful with many modes and reliable and automated operation
Color: Black Size: For 12~18inch Fish Tank
I've been using this lamp for over a year. It works very well. It can be made automated, so you don't need to turn it on and off every day, and it has a number of modes (such as when it turns on it has a "dawn" lighting, and then as it turns off it has a "sunset" lighting. Good for plants and fish.

  • Nice bright, reliable lights with convenient timers
Color: Black Size: For 18~24inch Fish Tank
I really like these lights. My tank looks great, and my plants are happy. It's easier to see what's going on with my substrate and inspect my animals, and I love the automatic timer. The natural light cycle is pretty, but I don't think it does much for my plants so I am just on a 12-on/12-off cycle and I'm happy that I don't have to mess with it. Keep in mind that while the light bracket does extend it to fit longer tanks, the farther out the brackets go the less stable your light will be, and at the full extension it sags downward alarmingly. Get a light that is as close to the length of your tank as possible. The wire brackets are not very long and don't extend far into the light for stability, so you want them extended as little as possible. ... show more

  • Great Light - Very Bright and the Modes Work Great
Color: Black Size: For 36~42inch Fish Tank
Very Pleased with this Light. It is brighter than some of my other more expensive lights and the 24 hour mode is great. I set it on this and now I never have to worry about turning the lights on or off. It is really a good deal.

  • Inexpensive and capabable
Color: Black Size: For 18~24inch Fish Tank
Had this for about a year over my planted tank, in addition to 48W of T5 bulbs. On its own, it doesn't have enough punch to grow plants, but in combination with additional lights it is pretty nice. I use the 24h cycle which works pretty well for me. My only issue is that power outages make the 24h cycle go wack. So I need to teach my technologically challenged wife to reset it properly when I am not home. I wish it had a little battery- (or capacitor) backed timer that would keep its schedule in case of temporary power outages. However, it defaults to "simple mode" where it turns on full power whenever it is plugged in, so one could just control it with a separate timer sans the Sunrise/Moonlight modes. ... show more

  • Very bright
Color: Black-Bluetooth App control Size: For 24~30inch Fish Tank
We replaced our aquarium light with this and it works well. I like that it is programmable, but wish it could run for more than 12 hours. I like that you can adjust the brightness - the full brightness tends to grow algae so we reduced the light just a bit to help control the overgrowth. My goldfish love it! It is especially helpful when I am out of town for a couple of days - the fish don't have to live in the dark. One less visit from the pet sitter to turn off the light each night. I like that I can control it with the bluetooth on my phone as well. ... show more

  • So good but a bit short
Color: Black Size: For 12~18inch Fish Tank
The light itself is a little short for my 10 gal. I have my plants on one side and either the plants don't get enough light or half the tank is darker. So I'll be suplimenting that with my old light. The 24hr cycle works really well and is so pretty to watch throughout the day. The programming was easy and setting it at the exact time isn't necessary, mine is set 30 minutes ahead. My plants have grown a lot with this light though I think it's great for the price ... show more

  • Great light, poor instructions, poor amazon customer service
Color: Black Size: For 24~30inch Fish Tank
If you can get it programmed, this light is great. However, the design of the power cord inline controller, and the instructions for how to use it, suck. (Full disclosure: I have an IT background and consider myself a UX dweeb; I have a website devoted to the usability of medical software.) When I first got it, after reading the instructions, I was able to get it to the automatic 24-hour cycle. But then we had a several-hour power outage, and my wife found the lights shining brightly at 11 PM and simply pressed the power button to turn off the lights. This morning, I realized I needed to reset the timer for the 24-hour cycle. In the spirit of "if a door needs a user manual – even a one-word user manual – it's a design failure" I grabbed the inline controller and tried to figure out how to reset it. Press the 24-hour button? Did nothing. Press it several times? Did nothing. Maybe I need to press the 24 hour button and then the very flat 8 AM button? Nothing. Read the user instructions… didn't help. Looked on this page for more help… couldn't find any. OK, just press buttons at random to see what works. Finally figured it out. Press on/off button to turn unit on (essential) > press 24-hour button > wow, that "8 AM button" is a light that lights up! > press the 24-hour button a few times as those buttons (really lights) cycle through the day until I get back to 8 AM being lit > I'm back in business. **** UPDATE *** just a few days after purchasing I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. The company contacted me about my concerns, right away, in a respectful way. I did offer specific recommendations for improving the user instructions, which they said they would use in the next revision of their instructions. They also offered a partial refund, which I declined, as I thought it would taint this review update. I will also add that now that I have discovered how it works, the user interaction design seems pretty simple. In UX terms, not very discoverable but very learnable and memorable. When the power goes out, and I reset the timing for the 24 hour cycle, it's really quite easy now that I know how. I did put a label on the aquarium as a reminder but it's really pretty superfluous once I showed my wife how to do it. It is a "see one, do one, teach one" sort of skill. But then, I found out that someone – not me – had requested a replacement unit. I had no problem with the unit, just the instructions. I received the replacement unit without my request and was going to give it away until amazon demanded I return the original. Despite an hour of trying, I was unable to contact amazon to let them know this was a spurious return; I would end up at a dead end with both the text chatbot and the voice chatbot where none of the options applied. One star for amazon.com's customer service. ... show more

  • Cannot dim while on 24-hour cycle
Color: Black Size: For 12~18inch Fish Tank
Good quality and size fits my needs. However, the biggest drawback is that you cannot control the brightness while on the 24-hour light cycle. Unfortunately, the bright light during thee daytime has fried my plants. It’d be great if you could use the light cycle AND dim the light
