Our dog is a lab mix, which means she has the "lab undercoat"...which means that every summer (and anytime she starts getting nervous, like in thunderstorms), it all just starts dropping out. We got this product (as well as a FURminator Medium Yellow Deshedding Tool with 2-2/3-Inch Edge ) to see if it would help it at all. We gave her a bath with this shampoo for the first time last night, and my first impressions were "wow, she's really shiny now!" and "holy cow, that's a lot of hair left in the tub!" There's really no explanation in the product information about how this is supposed to work/help; whether it is intended to help *remove* lose undercoat hair, therein helping prevent it from "shedding" out later, or if it is supposed to stop the hair from dropping out/shedding in the first place...which to be honest, would be kind of odd if you think about it. Your dog sheds for a reason, and it would be very unhealthy for their skin/coat if they were prevented from shedding. All that to say, my best guess is that it is the former, and that this product removes more hair during the bathing process so there is less to comb out, and shed out later. If that is in fact the purpose of this product, then from what I can tell, it is definitely working! Now, whether the extra loose-hair-removal power of this product in turn decreases her shedding still stands to be seen, but I will update after I've made any observations on that factor one way or another. Oh, and one other factor that I found interesting was that unlike many other shampoos, while the shampoo itself is "scented", our dog had no similar smell after her bath. She didn't even smell like wet dog. She smelled like, well, nothing. Sometimes the "after smell" of some of those shampoos is even worse than "wet dog", but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one did not.     • Absolutely amazing!
I have a french bulldog and a puggle. Both shed all of over my house! I bought this shampoo a month ago... I don't know what I did before it! The shampoo lathers very well. The bottle suggests leaving the shampoo on for at least five minutes. I give my dogs a five minute massage with the shampoo on... they love it. You can feel the product working. The shampoo washes off easily. I also bought the furminator conditioner. It makes their fur feel really soft. I highly recommend buying the furminator brushes. My dogs have the blue colored one. I brush my dogs down after they get out of the bath. At that point, their hair is very loose from the bath. TONS of hair falls off of them. It's incredible. These products save me from vacuuming on a daily basis... and my dogs smell really good :) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PRODUCT IF YOUR DOGS SHED! ... show more

    • Works better than expected!
The best! Will never buy cheap dog shampoo again. Does what it says. My dogs look new! I have a pug and puggle. Used natural dog shampoo for yrs. Had no idea how dirty my dogs were until using this. The color of their coats are so much whiter & fluffier & helped dramatically with shedding. Buy this!

    • Very nice product
I have 2 dogs with horrible undercoats, no rugs and ceiling to floor windows which show up every single hair on the flooring. I vacuum every day and they get a bath about once every 2 weeks. I have been using the Furminator brush and have recently tried the shampoo and solution. I always take a lot of time bathing the dogs so I didn't expect much hair in the drain this time. I must say I did get more than I had expected. And it seemed to be very soft hair. I don't know if that is just because the shampoo and conditioner made the hair soft or not. The shampoo has a nice coconut odor that is not strong and the conditioner has a flowery smell that does last on the dogs but it is not overpowering. I was worried when I read about the shampoo and conditioner having a nice smell. Most of these things give me a terrible headache and sore throat. Even when I would take my small dog to the groomer I would have to tell her, "nothing with perfume in it." These do not give me a headache or sore throat, which I was grateful for. They are very silky and smooth. More so than when I would usually wash them but in all fairness, I had not used a conditioner on them before. ... show more

    • Worth every penny
We have a high shedding pointer mix (mutt, but don’t tell her). Although her hair is short, I find it everywhere! Even frequent vacuuming and sweeping didn’t keep the level of hair to an acceptable level. Just petting her briefly caused a couple dozen hairs to cling to fly out. We tried the shampoo with low expectations - how can a shampoo keep hair from falling out? But, wow, this stuff works! She still sheds, but very minimally. While she doesn’t have particularly sensitive skin, this doesn’t seem to irritate her or cause more scratching. As far as fragrance, she doesn’t smell as good as she did after a more scented shampoo. But I will gladly trade that for less shedding. Wonder if this works on humans with male pattern baldness! Just kidding - please don’t try it on humans! ... show more

My dogs shed like crazy in the spring. I have a Jack Russell with a short coarse coat and an Australian Cattle Dog mix with lots of undercoat. I had the FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge brush for dogs already and like the job it does getting hair off my dogs. Much better than any other brush I've tried. I can't say that this shampoo or "solution" conditioner helped to remove any more hair compared to other products during or after the bath. I do not blow dry my dogs, perhaps the blow drying is an essential step. I will say that the dogs were very soft and smelled very nice for several days. But they were still shedding at about the same rate as with just brushing. ... show more
