  • Well made, and typical Furman quality
I liked the quality of the product. Nice metal case. Good feel to the switch. Good length on the cord. However, what I didn't like is the fact that it is only 540 joules. That's a little low for what I would expect from Furman. Something a little closer to 1,000 joules would be better. Anyway, overall seems to be an excellent product. ... show more

  • Furman is the name to trust.
I work with two live theaters and have installed these at both locations. I also have one at home and at least one in a travel bag for when I go to a different location. (The Carhartt soft side lunch box/bag will fit two of these nicely.) The great thing about these items is that when there is a power spike and the protection circuit is tripped, you reset it by simply switching it off then back on again. Most surge protectors have a "dissipating" system that will absorb the spike and then keep working after that. This could leave you vulnerable to additional surges and you wouldn't even know about it. More expensive? Yes. Worth the money? Well, would you rather power cycle a switch, or replace your electronics? You choose. ... show more

  • Heavy, solid metal, everything high-quality and NO buzz or hum! You can put your ear right up to it.
I was in the market for a new power strip with over AND undervoltage protection after finding out that most surge protectors only protect against overvoltages. I previously had bought a Tripp-Lite power strip because of all the rave 5-star reviews and did not trust my gut at first for an upgraded model of my existing Furman SS-6B. I notice very small details that are likely overlooked by most people and right away I noticed a faint buzzing coming from the brand-new Tripp-Lite I just bought! I hadn't realized it, but my old Furman SS-6B had no buzz at all. I guess it's acceptable to sell buzzing electronics, as long as most customers do not notice it...? After returning the Tripp-Lite strip, I went with my gut and bought this Furman SS-6B-PRO, plugged everything in and powered it on. I put my ear right up to it, about 1 inch away and ... Not a single sound could be heard! No buzzing, no clicking, no hum, exactly what I wanted. No indication of cheapo manufacturing either on the plugs, the metal case or the thick 14AWG mains cord. This thing is HEAVY, weighing 4lbs. If you need ACTUAL silence, as in, critical audiophile listening silence instead of "mostly quiet, good enough for me, sports drowns it out anyway", this is the surge protector you are looking for. No compromises, just a solid metal surge protector that is actually silent. Isn't that what we all really want? ... show more

  • Great Option to help quiet audio equipment and reduce hum/hiss
I've always used good quality surge protectors for my important electrical equipment. But in my tube amps I was getting a hiss. It wasn't so awful when I was sitting away, but close up, and especially when I mic'ed my amp it was bad. It could be anything, my fridge, record player, stereo, a fan. Some plugs are better than others, but I can only isolate so much. I was initially looking at a more expensive voltage regulator, but decided it might not be worth it to get perfection. Considering a voltage regulator is over 600, easy choice. I'm not running a recording studio. All my audio equipment, a stereo reciever, tape deck, record player, and two amps are hooked up to this. It reall ylowered it, tube amps always have a little bit of "hiss", but now it's much harder to hear even when its mic'ed. I wasn't looking for perfect silence, just cleaner. Best, most useful piece of gear I bought for my audio equipment. Even my turn table (a repeat offender in the hum department) is noticeably quiter. ... show more

  • Too sensitive for outdoor use
I have two of these. Both will randomly trip the EVS when used outdoors in humid environments. Indoors, they are fine.

  • Best you can get for the money
I’ve used these for years. I wouldn’t trust my equipment with anything other than Furman. The chord length is great for stage use. I do wish they sold shorter lengths for at home. The build quality is excellent.

  • Works great with a Line 6 guitar amplifier combo
I bought this because I have a line 6 Spider modeling guitar amplifier that was acting weird. I plugged it into this and it worked fine with no trouble no weird channel switching. I played the amp for about a half hour and it worked normal.
