    • Helpful Book for Toddler Bed Transition
We just recently changed our toddler's bed from a crib to a "big kid bed", and we were having trouble getting her to stay in it at night - so I put in a pre-order on this book and anxiously awaited its delivery. We adore all the Leslie Patricelli books we have, and our little one has learned a lot from reading them with us so I hoped this would be another winner. I have found that the simple/silly language and plot of these books is nice even when you have an articulate little one, because it allows for deeper focus, especially after a long day when we're all pretty worn out. The illustrations are delightful too! I was not disappointed when this book finally arrived - our daughter has asked for us to read this book every night since it came, and is much more excited about her new bed! I was recommended this book by my friend to help my daughter transition into her own bed and she loves it! We've been reading it every night for the past few weeks and it helps relieve some of her anxiety about sleeping in her own room in her own big kid bed.

Great book for discovering the wonder and excitement for transitioning to a big kid bed. I love that while Leslie shows the child getting up out of bed to explore their new freedom may be a contrary goal for parents, it exposes a very real part of growing for the child. We were patient with our little one, letting him get up a few times, and gently reminding him to go back to bed—also in the book. Now bedtime is much easier, and no more getting up. Cute and simple book explaining the big kid bed to little one. Our son was wide-eyed as we read it to him. One thing you should know is the book talks about how the tot in the book can get out of bed whenever they want, which I wish we could have let our son figure that out on his own lol.
