Description

This is a heavy duty K-type Thermocouple or Pyrometer for use in kiln, furnace and forge applications. The Type K pyrometer probe is made from AWG 8 gauge thermocouple wire and is rated for continuous use at very high temperatures up to 2498°F Fahrenheit or 1370 °C Celsius. The k-type thermocouple is about 8.5 inch in total length, and the 6 insulation tubes are about 6.5 inch long. This type K Thermocouple Kiln Probe is made with 6 ceramic insulators, each about 1 inch long, and it allows you to adjust the probe length by removing insulator elements and shortening the wire to your exact requirement. This k-type thermocouple is frequently used in ceramic ovens, kilns and furnaces, in pottery ovens, metal working, manufacturing and whenever you need to measure and control very high temperatures. This pyrometer is frequently used by knife smiths to measure the forge, gas forge or metal annealing oven. Ships quickly from St Paul, Minnesota, USA. If you have questions we can help. Specifications: K-type Thermocouple Measurement Range -58 to 2498 °F (-328 to 1370 °C) Wire Diameter: AWG 8, 0.13” or 3.2 mm Total length: 8.5 inch (21.5 cm) Insulated length: 6.5 inch (16.2 cm) Ceramic Insulator, oval shape: L~ 0.5” W~ 0.4” (L=12.3mm W=10mm), a ceramic connector block for wiring and a 5 ft hook-up cable and a digital thermometer DT1311 are included. Note that the digital thermometer will display the full range up to 2500 degree F Fahrenheit, or it will display all the way up to 1370 degree C Celsius. You can switch between the two by pressing a single button. If you need a ceramic protection tube for this thermocouple, please search for our model CR-03. Assembly is needed, you will need a screwdrived to attach the thermocouple and the cableto the connector block.

  • Works great
Works great in my forge. Allows me to adjust the heat to desired temperature depending on what metal I’m using. Seems very accurate.

  • Be sure to file off the mill scale from the rods!
This works great and is very accurate and easy to use but you must file off the mill scale from the rods before clamping them down in the terminals or your readings will not work right at all.

  • Failed... sort of
It arrived yesterday and I used it today Set up was easy enough. FYI I don't have much experience dealing with these types of things. All was great until I got up to about 800deg and then it stopped reading in Fahrenheit. I know I didn't break it bc it is still reading in Celsius. Such an inconvenience for this American and it makes me wonder what will happen next! And just so you know, I'm using this for a ceramic gas kiln. I'll be firing up to 2000 deg... hmmm what is that in Celsius? Looks like I'll be finding out. UPDATE: So I can get it to read in Fahrenheit by pushing another button. All is good! And update from 3 to 4 star ... show more

  • Works great, convenient.
This is for a ceramic kiln and worked flawlessly. I had to read the brochure to change the temperature reading for kiln firing temperatures but that's about the extent of non intuitive operation. Just remember to let the sensor cool in the kiln so there's no sudden temperature change damage.

  • It works, but I doubt the quality. The very first time I used it the insulator rings broke apart.
There were no assembly instructions provided for the thermocouple. The insulator rings are not durable, and two of them simply fell apart the first time it was used. I will not buy this brand again.

  • Works great
I made a primitive kiln from mud and bricks, this thing worked amazing. Pretty neat thing to have

  • Difficult to assemble 👎
The media could not be loaded. Although it says it's made in USA, it has been next to impossible to assemble and cheaply made. Wires to probe are very thin and difficult to attached under screw/washer. They keep coming out. Plug to thermometer took at least 20 tries to get it plugged in. I've only used it once and seems to be accurate. ... show more

  • Great addition
We purchased this to use with our old manual electric kiln. This thermocouple works great and it’s nice to be able to use in conjunction with witness cones. I broke a couple of the insulators by removing while it’s hot, so I recommend leaving in place and using a different peep to check the cones. Great value! ... show more
