Features

  • The TS-X 1440 features an image-stabilizing function, based on Fujifilms optical and mechanical design technologies nurtured through its development of interchangeable lenses for digital cameras and broadcast lenses. The use of a gyro sensor enables accurate detection of even the smallest of vibrations and controls the prism inside the body to achieve the vibration correction angle of 6.
  • With the effective diameter of 40mm for objective lens elements, the TS-X 1440 achieves an advanced level of light-gathering power. The companys unique EBC Multi-Coating is applied to control flare and ghosting while enhancing light transmittance, perfect for astronomical observation in low-light conditions.
  • Chromatic aberration is controlled by optimally positioning four objective lens elements in three groups and six ocular lens elements in four groups. This delivers edge-to-edge sharpness.
  • Designed with water and fog proof seals (Nitrogen Purged). O ring sealed.
  • Rubber armored body allows user to have a firm grip.

  • Remarkable image stabilization, great improvement over my previous Canon IS binoculars
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
I have owned a pair of Canon 12x36 IS II image stabilized binoculars since 2011. They have been well used and a couple of years ago the rubber-feel coating became sticky -as reported by many others. I removed the sticky coating with Isopropyl Alcohol, however now 2 years on the housing surrounding one of the front elements has become lose interfering with focusing, so time to change..... After a lot of research I decided not to go with the with newer model Canon 12x36 IS III Image Stabilized Binoculars since reportedly the surface coating has not been changed and still has a tendency to become sticky after several years. The new range of Canon image stabilized binoculars have the newer lens shift image stabilization with the improved +/- 1.0 degrees of stabilzation, but the front lens diameter is only 32mm, limiting image brightness and exit pupil size. They are also more expensive than the optically superior Canon 12x36 IS III binoculars with the previous generation vari-angle prism image stabilization and it's +/- 0.8 degrees of stabilization. The Fujinon 14x40 TSX1440 Techno-Stabi Image-Stabilized Binoculars have 40mm front lenses, a remarkable +/- 6.0 degrees of image stabilization and they're waterproof. I thought Canon's image stabilization was very good, but the Fujinons raise the bar significantly. With stabilization switched on you can actually get a steady image from a moving vehicle! For my use of wildlife viewing and bird watching while hiking they are incredible. True they are heavier and bulkier than the Canon 12x36's, but the improvement in magnification of 14x over 12x , the image brightness, clarity and stabilization definitely make carrying the extra weight worthwhile. Fact is in a side by side comparison my wife and I could both see details with the Fujinon 14x40 binoculars that were impossible to see with the Canon 12x36's. The front lenses on the Fujinons have 48mm threads so they can be protected with UV filters (I picked up a pair of Chiaro Pro 48mm 98-UVATS UV Filters) and lens caps (Sensei 48mm Clip-On Lens Cap). One last thought, the eye relief is infinitely adjustable on the Fujinons from 5mm to 13mm, and far more comfortable than the hard rubber eye cups on the Canons that can only be folded back for spectacle wearers. If you're in the market for image stabilized binoculars and the extra weight is not an issue, I thoroughly recommend these. You will not be disappointed! ... show more

  • impressive piece of kit but perfect for some applications only
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
Fujinon TSX1440 is an impressive piece of kit. Image is very sharp, edge to edge. Field of view is quite wide. I can instantly find the right position for my eyes to see a clear picture without any vignetting; this is in stark contrast to their smaller brother Fujinon 16x28, which I just couldn't use because it is taking me forever to position binoculars to see a clear image. So even without image stabilization, these binoculars are great for 40 mm objective lenses. Image stabilization is unbelievable. When standing on the ground image becomes still. It is especially apparent when looking at far away objects, e.g. the jet plane is the sky. There is no delay in stabilization when panning. I didn't have a chance to try them on water, but with 6 degrees of compensation they should work like magic. Ergonomically, the focus ring is at your pointing finger, where it feels natural to operate. It is hard to adjust distance between eye cups, but this is expected from all IS binoculars as prisms on both sides have to be physically connected. Finally, build quality it top notch. Rubberized coating makes them grippy. Plus they are supposed to be waterproof. Now, the bad part is the size and weight. These are very heavy making them only suitable for a few applications like boating, kayaking, spying on someone from a car, basically any application where you don't have to carry this weight with you. I can't see anyone taking them on a hike or bird-watching. But they were not built for such purposes. Overall, these are amazing binoculars for some applications with impeccable optics. Too heavy for others. P.S. My points of reference are Nikon Monarch 7 10x42 and Kowa spotting scope with fluorite crystal. ... show more

  • image stabilazation makes viewing much better
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
Gyros are what make this a special binoculars. When trying to hand hold binoculars and be able to focus at long distance it is very difficult if not impossible with regualar binoculars. Press a button and you turn on the gyro unit, the image is very stable and allows you to see clearly without any shake or vibration. Very comfortable viewing for long periods of time without any extra support. Lens are of good quailty and crisp with great light transmission and nice smooth focus. The 14 power brings far away images up close. The case is also good quailty and protects binoculars during travel. The weight is one negative, they are heavy and large so small hands may not like holding them or hanging from your neck for long periods of time. Gyro will hold posistion up to 6 degrees, more than other units, before they loose stablization, on a rocking boat it may be a bit difficult to hold stready. Requires 4 batteries but battery life is good. Has auto off to save battery life ... show more

  • Image Stabalization stopped working mid way through first trip.
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
First off, these binoculars are very impressive… when they worked. About 3 hours into my fishing trip the LED lights started alternately blinking. I turned product off and replaced batteries when I got home after reading the owner’s manual. Lights were still blinking. I’m submitting for a refund and I was hoping that I just got a lemon. I definitely want to buy it again or just get it replaced out right. I just received the item a week ago and somehow how the price jumped up. I’m looking to see if the company or Amazon can honor my original purchase price because I definitely want to give these binoculars another shot. ... show more

  • Fantastic stabilized image
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
For anyone without very steady hands, using high-powered binoculars is problematic. The image stabilization on the Fujinon 14x40 TSX1440 holds the image completely still, allowing the appreciation of fine details of the moon, birds, etc. The best example of the improvement provided is the ability to read relatively small writing on a sign hundreds of feet away. The extent of the stabilization is amazing and works very smoothly while tracking objects in motion. The range of settings for pupil distance and diopters are wide, allowing someone with narrow eye spacing or very poor eyesight to use the binoculars without glasses. The only criticism I have is that the focus gearing is a bit too fast, making it slightly more difficult than it should be to attain perfect focus. ... show more

  • Amazing optics and IS
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
UPDATED REVIEW October 12, 2023: When viewing wildlife less than 1 mile away, these worked great. But at over 1 mile away, I cannot get the right eye focused and I cannot get the left and right eyes aligned and there is some disturbing vignetting. The warranty period for these binocs is 12 months. A few months after the warranty period expired, the image stabilization quit working. I contacted the Fujinon Binocular Repair (FBR) center in NJ, USA. They confirmed my binocs are out of warranty. They recommended that I ship the binocs to them for assessment. I spent $50 USD for shipping and repair, and I included all of the original packaging and proof of purchase. A few weeks later I received an email requesting $100 USD for repair and return shipment. I paid the $100 immediately. A few weeks later I received, not my repaired binocs, but a brand-new-in-the-box pair of binocs. The IS on the new binocs works great and the new binocs do not have the problems with right-eye focus and left-right eye alignment. FBR was very responsive, communicative and quick. It took only 32 days from when I shipped until when I received the new binocs. So far, I am very happy. ORIGINAL REVIEW June 19, 2022: As others have mentioned, 14x40s with image stabilization are gonna be heavy. With batteries installed, these weigh nearly 3 pounds (2lbs 13oz). The neck strap included is too narrow for these heavy beasts - I replaced the neck strap with a 2-inch-wide soft camera strap. Now some good news...AWESOME..Big time WOW factor with the 14x magnification plus clear optics plus image stabilization. Just AWESOME. First time I used these we encountered a pod of orcas. Right then the high price of these binocs paid off. Why in the world is there a power on/off button AND a stabilize on/off button? The only purpose of the power is to stabilize. So why are there two buttons? I love the fact that the image stabilizing is a button that is pressed and is on with no further pressure. My Canon 10x30 IS (great IS binocs) require holding the button down which creates shake. These Fujinons have an ON setting that does not require holding an ON button. The power automatically shuts off if the binocs are not being used. I do not like the eye piece lens cover, but it seems that all of the binoc manufacturers are going with the strap-connected dual cover. The objective lens cover is OK but not leashed to the binocs. The "height" of the eyepieces can be adjusted. Twisting each eyepiece moves the eyepiece in/out to set the distance from your eyes and compensate for wearing glasses. The diopter eyepiece focus adjustment and eye width adjustment are very stiff. This is good for me since I am the only one using these binocs and I don't change the diopter focus and eye width. If these binocs are shared with other users, changing the stiff adjustments often might be cumbersome. Maybe with time these adjustments will become looser and easier to change. The overall focus adjustment is coarse. In other words, a slight rotation of the focus knob results in a large change in focus. Getting the focus just right is still do-able. These binocs are large. There are very few binoc chest packs that will accomodate these big binocs. The few chest packs that will work are huge. To my delight, these binocs fit snuggly in my Allen Binocular Chest Pouch. ... show more

  • Quality construction and image stabilization works great.
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
These have six degrees of image correction which is the best I've seen in the consumer range. It really makes a big difference when handholding. The optical quality is quite good in my opinion, although I haven't used any top end binoculars. My best set before getting these was a pair of Nikon Monarch 5's. I bought these because I had been considering a tripod and higher magnification of binoculars, these totally eliminate any need for that. It's true they are on the heavier side. But they do feel solid which I appreciate. The included case is quite nice. ... show more

  • High magnification with stabilizer is great
Style: TS-X 14x40 Color: Black
I took awhile to make up my mind on these, because they are expensive. I read some complaints online about the stabilization not working, but the ones I bought work really well. Looking through them and then clicking the stabilizer on makes you realize what a huge benefit it is. Take care of them and they should last a long time, manufacture and materials seem to be very high quality. If you really value being able to see things up close and with great detail, these are the best binoculars out there in my opinion. Enjoy! ... show more
