Very nice AC, a little heavy so it may take 2 people to install. The side curtains are included. The prep to install is a little cumbersome. The instructions are a bit vague, but the pictures are easy to follow. It will take about an hour and a half or more to attach the side curtains, as the front of the unit needs to be removed in order to attach them. Then reassembled. This is a combination wall/ window unit. The outside case of the unit needs to be installed in the window first, then the AC itself is slid into the outside case. Think of it like a rack in your oven. The AC unit is slid in on tracks. Then the front of the unit is reattached. The unit works very well and is relatively quiet, has an eco-function to automatically control the fan speed, as well as an auto function to switch between Air, Cool or Dry depending on the temperature and humidity.

On an 80 degree day I cranked it down to 68 to see what the air temp would be. I measured the temps between 39 and 45 blowing out of the thing and it was down right chilly! Wayyyy chillier than any of my previous units over my lifetime. It's pretty loud, but honestly it's a good white noise loud. The noise tells you it's working. When the compressor kicks on it's LOUD but pretty usual and routine. I find eco mode stupid. Every time I turn it on it defualt to being in eco mode making me turn it off. Some people like it, not me. It makes the entire unit turn off and on as it cools over the course of a few minutes, which is jarring on an audio level vs it always humming away. The air temp itself will also be in the mid 60s vs the ice cold ones I mentioned before. At first I thought that was as cold as it would get, but once I pressed Eco to disable it, the temps radically dropped into awesomeness. This thing almost gets TOO cold at times it's amazing after mowing the lawn. Overall this thing is worth it's weight in gold and I'd gladly buy another. The remote is pretty cool but honestly I haven't used it that much. I use it in a room that doesn't get central air so even though it's partially supplemented it's pretty well entirely cooled by this beast.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit and i'm pretty confident that it is the best window a/c available for a small bedroom. You don't need more than 5000 BTUs for small spaces. If you get a bigger unit, you are likely paying more than you need to for a bulkier machine, and ultimately less energy efficiency (since you are using it to cool a smaller space than it was designed and tested for). In general, the 5000 BTU units are very cheap and much more manageable in terms of size and weight, which is especially helpful if you plan to take out for the winter. Unfortunately, most of the 5000 BTU machines are budget offerings that are light on features. Not this one - it has three speeds, eco mode, dehumidify mode, a remote with remote sensing capabilities - features that are not available on most 5000 BTU units. It cost about $50 more than less well-equipped 5000 BTU models, but it's still much cheaper than more powerful alternatives. Now that I have it in hand, I'm very happy with the purchase. It was relatively easy to install - I needed a block due to our storm windows, reasonably quiet, and effective at getting the room cold.

The a/c arrived damaged. The packaging was solid and undamaged. However, it cools the room down fast and I needed that more than I needed it to be pristine. The remote has a thermometer in it (why do I find that so nifty?) so I can test the temperature throughout the area. It's much noisier than my previous a/c, but it's a little larger, too. Make sure you keep the drainage hole on the underside clear.

It’s about 1,100 square feet and an open floor plan with lots of inefficient windows. It’s a beast, that keeps the area cool while shutting off and on. We reached 96 today, and it kept the room at 73 without a problem.

I love that it was delivered a day early just in time. I had 4 portable units in my house,came home last night to one making noises. Long story short I’m 56 and installed this unit myself. The instructions are not great so I looked up on YouTube. The man in the video went step by step on a 18,000 btu unit. Now that I’ve said that. The true confidence test came when slowly installing the unit into the frame. I was petrified it was going to fall. My home is 100 years old and it fit perfectly. Don’t mind the foam part on it I took this after I finished. I don’t recommend doing it on your own as it’s heavy. I had no choice and took my time. 4 hours later and I was able to turn off 3 out of 4 portable AC units. The whole back of my house including my kitchen is getting cool. I live in Florida and decided to invest in a big unit. I’m glad I did. It’s quiet and cooling every room except my master bedroom. FYI my house reached almost 100 while I was installing. Within 20 minutes the temp in the rooms was 76. Watch the YouTube videos on installation since the instructions are a bit confusing. Very proud of myself and my English Bulldogs are happy too. They got put in the master bedroom while I did this. It’s easy getting the frame in however it’s very heavy. Great unit very happy and the delivery guys were great too.
