  • ENTIRE SAW, WORTH EVERY PENNY>
Simple, Buy it if your looking for a job site saw. I have only used for about 10 days. I have been doing this since the early 1970's. This has the best locking fence system. I have a EXACTA Fence on my Jet, and accurate when dialed in. I still measure with this saw but the gear drive fence. it's width capability, it's power. safety features, impressive. Comes with the Rivet on. Could be spelling wrong. I haven't used all the stuff now put on saws, but this feature doesn't get in the way, and I can see were it could assist in safety. The saw, the worm drive motor so far A+. I got the 8! 1/4" It's sturdy construction, yet light enough to pick up and put in the back of the truck. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Bosch 10" Still have, need to repair. It has the lift. Most of the time I never used up. Not easy for one guy to put in the truck. This skil saw I already have 3 features on it, that I don't just like better but love better. This saw you cam get a lift. But the rubber cushions on the bottom of the frame on the corners, really grip my only 2x4 table. I was ripping 10' long 2x10, the saw stayed sturdy with no support. I will build a tray like system to assure this, but I love it. THe push stick. the miter, gauge small but fine. I knew what size I was buying. I don't need a saw that is close to the same footprint as my Jst cabinet saw. I can rip 40" wide on that. If I still has a dozen men on the payroll I think I would still have 3 of these. Maybe one 10" for larger complete homes. Very happy. Powerful bugger, great fence, I LOVE it. ... show more

  • Powerful lil thang
Tldr review: if you are looking for a high quality, durable, powerful job site table saw that performs at the same level as a 10inch saw without the added heft this is the one for you. The accessories aren't the best and like every table saw it's incredibly dangerous. I have used this extensively on the job site and in my work shop and I am incredibly satisfied with the product. I have ripped down pressure treated 2x material, walnut, oak, and other incredibly hard materials and it has not bogged down once. It's nice that it is dado compatible, and even though the cut capacity is not as great as with a 10inch saw it fits my needs just fine. I've found that I've only ever once had to make a cut that would have been easier had I had a 10inch blade, but that's one time out of the 200 or so times I've used it in the short time I've had it. Weight: it is a bit hefty but it is considerably lighter than any of the 10inch job site saws I've used and performs comparably. The handle on the side is ergonomic enough to let you carry it comfortably. Fence: love the fence, it was incredibly easy to square and the rack and pinion system is very smooth and easy to adjust. Performance: it performs at the same level as the 10inch table saws I've used and doesn't bog down like the DeWalt 8 1/4 saw my coworker uses. Calibration process: it's no worse or better than calibrating any other table saw I've used. Bog standard there. Construction: body feels sturdy and like it can take a thrashing. Have never worried about having it in the back of my van while driving. Accessories: the riving knife works fine, but the blade guard (like most) does suck. Was very obnoxious to attach and considering I have to load and unload it most every day it's not something I keep on (keep it on don't be dumb like me). The mitre gauge is also bad but, again, that's pretty standard for a stock miter gauge. The push stick is nice for a stock push stick, but there really isn't much you can say about it. ... show more

  • Compact, accurate, powerful
This a little beastof a saw! If you're looking for a compact, portable table saw, especially for fine work, this is the one. It's very quick and easy to adjust to perfect, and it muscles through material, even with a small dado stack. Sure, it's a bit pricier than other similar saws, considering Dewalt's 8-1/4 comes with a stand at $330, but you get what you pay for. As a side note (and this is a major factor for me), the worm drive assembly went out on me after only 9 months of occasional light to medium use. Within a matter of minutes, I was on the phone with a representative, who initiated the warrenty process and made it right. I have yet to experience that level of costumer service from any other tool maker, aside from Makita. Conclusion: Well-built, accurate, great customer care. I'll be considering more SKIL products in the future. ... show more

  • Well made
I would have given 5 stars except for three things: 1) the miter gauge is sloppy in the slot like most tablesaws. I ordered an Incra miter gauge and problem solved 2) there is no bevel adjustment wheel. When you release the bevel lock the weight of the motor swings toward the 45° bevel position. You have to hold it to adjust the bevel to the desired angle. It's a compact saw so I guess there wasn't room for a bevel adjustment worm gear. 3) there are three fence positions: left, right1, and right2. The fence was supposed to be squared at the factory but it was not square to the blade in right1. I checked first to make sure the blade was square to the table then made the easy adjustment to square the fence. Overall it's a great saw and a perfect size for my small workshop. At 74 I don't breakdown full size sheet goods anymore and don't need a larger tablesaw. UPDATE: Another reviewer said the fence was not square vertically. I checked mine and it's out of square. The book offers no adjustment. I'll try to figure it out. Also, the table is not even close to dead flat like it should be. If I'd known this immediately after receiving it I would have returned it. ... show more

  • Powerhouse saw
I had a full size table saw and just needed space in my shop. I got the skil (81/4 blade) saw thinking usage would be minimal.however, I use the saw far more than expected cause saw is fabulous. I made a sled and use fence. And I use the safety protector for ripping when I can. The fence is spot on accurate. ... show more
