Seems to work fine. Fits correctly, and I haven't had any issues. Note that a filter like this may reduce the airflow of your AC which can decrease efficiency, but I haven't noticed much of a change personally. If you're concerned about that, it might be a better idea to just get a separate air purifier. ... show more

    • Could just make your own for cheaper...

Way over-priced for what it is. You could get a few square yards of MERV 5-9 fabric and some thin activated carbon fabric for this price, then cut your own and get 15-20 homemade filters out of that. And, they'd be much better. It's not difficult. Take the bug screen out, trace around it, giving about 1/2 or 1 inch on all sides, then fold those over th edges when you snap it in. No need to get fancy. Put them on the outside of the bug screen, and the suction will always pull them tight. Just be careful of assuming higher MERV ratings are best, since they really begin to restrict airflow just on their own (before clogging), when you get up into the MERV10+ ranges. You'd be replacing air conditioners every few years, that way. But, really, a self-cut MERV 6 or 7 + carbon filter for so cheap... could be replaced every week for this same price. For those wondering, this Frigidaire filter is MERV-14 rated, which should catch 0.3–1.0 micron particle size. MERV-14 is really meant for final-filtering, not pre-filtering. I suspect Frigidaire is aware of that and is counting on you not replacing these as you should (due to cost), thus punishing your unit and forcing you to buy another after a few years time when it conks out from being over-worked. These things are always trade-offs, right. I ran one 10,000 BTU LG unit for 12 years with nothing but the bug screen. That AC was so happy to always get all the intake it wanted. TWELVE years, man. But, I suspect it was making me sick from mold and pollen and other nasties built up inside. Love ya, Frigidaire, but $35 for something that lasts a recommended 3 months and will likely starve my new AC for breath... nah. ... show more
