So many toasters. So little need for more than one. This Frigidaire has a delightful vintage style and appears well made. Controls exude quality in both tactile touch and function. The single fault I find — and share with others — is its excessive firepower, rendering anything dialed much above "2” a charred depiction of its former self. (Yes, I even twisted the dial back and forth several times.) Consequently, I moderate my dialing accordingly. The pre-toast thawing feature is handy. And the bagel button begets single-sided toasting, igniting outer burners only. Canceling is quickly executed. Dialing doneness is direct and in keeping with the design aesthetic. All in all, a fine toaster. Irrelevant higher doneness settings loses it one star. My experience with this toaster is only weeks along, but sufficient to recommend the appliance. ... show more

I almost didn’t buy this toaster because so many said it burnt the toast constantly. It does seem excessive to have so many settings, anything over 3 will get you really dark toast. Mine toasts evenly set at 3 and so far it works great and looks good on my counter.

Nice toaster and it did still work even though the retail box it was shipped in, was destroyed on 5 sides. It needs an additional tough outer box for shipping.

Overall I love this toaster, but I keep it on setting 1 or it burns the toast. Even on setting 1, it sometimes it comes out slightly burnt. Other times the bread is not toasted at all, just warm. Its kind of a surprise every time we use the toaster.

If anything, it heats up *too* efficiently: toaster waffles only need a setting of 2, and toast and english muffins at 3--out of a top range of 6.
