I love Sonic Ice ❤️. Didn’t know there were different types of machines until I started shopping. This one clearly says it makes bullet ice in 2 & crunch sizes. I’m thinking they would be small & break when bit. So, when the first ones dropped I got one, popped in mouth & crunch. Second one just a hard ice cube which after a while melts down and can be chewed. Back to the drawing board since I now know what I’m looking for. I tried 2 different makers & more expensive after watching the videos. First was a Siiloon: Ice nooks a little bigger than Sonic’s but is clear and no crunch. Let it run several cycles with no change. Boxer back up to send back. Tried an Antarctic Star: no difference in ice it produced. More on that review. Then the solution hit me: Keeping the Fridgeaire that makes the bullet. Store in an ice bag and drop,on an hard answer and when needed use a rolling pin. Then when you empty into a cup (see picture) it looks like & tastes like sonic ice. If you still get some of the bullets, after they’ve sat for a while they chew easily. So, I’m now very happy. Plus, I’ve using bottled ware (tall ones) and can get 4-5 baskets of the bullets before refilling. ... show more

Have used this ice maker about 4 times. The first time, I thought it took a long time in between batches, about 10-12 minutes. After trying it a couple more times, it seems to be slightly faster producing the bullet shaped ice. It is not too loud running, but louder when it drops the ice, which is normal. Ice needs to be put in freezer after a few batches as it starts to melt fairly quickly. I would not wait till the basket is full. Ice does stick together but all the ice makers cubes react the same way. Putting it into a bag, and dropping it on the counter or pounding it with your hand will separate most of the ice. We purchased two of these. The first one was the copper as described. It’s fun but it will wake you in the night when the ice drops at the end of the freezing cycle. It’s fun to watch sometimes and nice to have ice. I wish there was a better way to clean it. We will have to unplug it and dump it over the sink, to clean it. Not the end of the world. When we ordered the second one they sent a black on instead of the copper. I tried several times to reach them. The sticker on the box said copper but the box clearly showed a black ice maker. The color doesn’t effect how it works of course so not a big deal. ... show more

So, as you know, giant fridge, raider is constantly are having issues with their water and ice. So I bought this little unit after reading the reviews. I absolutely love this unit. It’s quiet, it makes ice quickly and we’ve had it for about eight months and it still has not broken down which is exactly what we all want right there especially during the hot summers. And it’s cool because if you just need some ice for a small party, you can make enough within about 20 minutes. I will recommend this machine. It’s also very beautiful. I purchased this for my 85 year old grandparents. Their new refrigerator has a botton freezer (which they wanted) but limited freezer space so they took out the ice maker to make room. Every time we had family gatherings, there was no ice not even a tray. When I mentioned buying this to my grandmother - she didn't want to hear it. She said there would be no room for it on her counters (she has plenty of room). I think they were more concerned they wouldn't know how to operate it without help or how it would 'look' if company came lol. It blends in nicely with her other black & stainless appliances. If anything, her friends/company raves about the maker. I had the ice maker shipped to my grandparents house — and when they received it, they couldn't get over how well packaged it was — it also has a blue film covering protecting the entire stainless machine. ❄️🧊❄️🧊❄️🧊❄️🧊 and couldn't get over how compact the ice maker is, how quick it produces ice, and how easy it is to operate. They have actually used this several times when having outdoor gatherings. We plug it into the outside outlet or portable generator & wah lah! It was in the mid 90s with 100% humidity & the lid kept the ice intact - no issues with melting. The ice cubes are large nuggets which is nice.. Depending on your tap water minerals, I recommend using filtered water to reduce build-up. *The machine is very easy to clean AND SO IMPORTANT (PLEASE READ). When I visited, I noticed the machine had a 'water smell' and knew it just needed a cleaning. I do recommend cleaning & sanitizing the machine every 4-6 weeks and clean the basket frequently. If you don't want to spend the money on ice machine cleaner - then white vinegar works just as good if not better. I put distilled vinegar in a spray bottle (1:1 ratio) and spray the inside really good. I would use a lint free microfiber cloth or an old t-shirt to wipe (DON'T USE HARSH CHEMICALS) - you can also mix water & Dawn together and use it as a spray. You'll want to grab a toothbrush for hard to reach spots. Vinegar is a safe - natural disinfectant & descaler. Anything that gets left uncleaned has the chance to build up grime for another 2 months. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP - YOU WILL GET SICK!! 🪥🧽🧼 *MAKE SURE you pour/fill the ice maker with the vinegar solution (vinegar/water), just like how you make ice! Making this ice fills the spaces most likely to have buildup, like the ice maker's teeth, with your solution. Make sure you give the machine a good thorough rinse because you don't want your ice to taste like vinegar. This may seem like a pain or a lot to do but it's actually not. So quick but so IMPORTANT. You DON'T want to take chances on getting sick or someone else because ALL ice makers create mold, slime, e-coli, pests, dust, and dirt—debris of all kinds can affect the quality of your ice. Look out for green or black patches on your ice, because that’s a sure sign that it’s in need of a clean. But other dangers can be harder to spot. I hope you found my review helpful! It has worked great! No issues and it makes ice super fast! I did clean it recently and it took 3 attempts of turning it back on for it to actually start making ice again. I’m not sure if that is a flaw or if it may have been just a lag that I didn’t expect.

I really want to give a 3.5 rating but I’ll give 4 because I really do LOVE this ice maker. It’s been so amazing to have at our house considering we do not have a fridge that has an ice maker BUTTTTTTTT this thing is sooooooo hard to clean it’s wild. There is a specs where the ice is “made” that you cannot get clean because it’s such a tight space and you cannot take it apart whatsoever. So now we constantly have floaties in our drinks and it’s just gross. 😭 ... show more

Truly enjoying the ice maker makes Ice very quickly. I am one to read the instruction manual for anything I purchase, so after removing the maker from the box I let it sit on the counter for a few hours before cleaning it and running it. No issues yet and I've been using it for a few weeks now.
