I am sure this works fine but I purchased it because it says it is adjustable and it is not. You cannot adjust the temp up or down. My plan to use it was for the winter when I need the tank to stay 72 for the minnows I have in there.

    • Perfect for my Betta
I set up a new fish tank for a betta fish recently. I used to think that betta fish just need room-temperature water, but in fact they need their water to be between 75 - 80 F. I got this little heater to handle that, and it's working really nicely. The heater hooks onto a simple suction cup, which you just push onto the tank side. It holds well. The heater does not have a temperature setting -- it just raises the water to 78 F, which is perfect for betta fish. My tank is 5 gallons, which is the limit for this heater. When I first put it into the tank, it raised the temperature from 62 F to 78 F in about 2 hours. Now it keeps the temperature consistently at that level. There's a dim light visible on the side indicating that the heater is plugged in. This heater is simple, but works well. My betta fish is happier. I recommend it. ... show more

This little heater is perfect for my tank and working like it should. I have it in a 5 gallon tank and it’s doing a good job keeping it at a consistent temp. I plan on using this for a 5 gallon aquarium that I recently acquired. This little heater will fit perfectly into the labyrinth filter system that is built into the back of the tank. It is the perfect size for a tank of this volume.

I LOVE JUST HOW SMALL THIS HEATER IS. IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICS YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU CAN'T SEE IT FROM THE FRONT OF THE BOWL WHICH IS GREAT BUT YOU CAN SEE IT FROM THE BACK. I WOULD ORDER AGAIN.

It is set to an unchangeable 78F, which limits what you can sufficiently use it with. Since this is a heater to be used with smaller fish it's a little too warm for Betta (72F) and Cherry Shrimp (72F) or on the cold side for something like a turtle bath heater. The design looks durable though, and the mount did a good job of holding up in the tank, just would have been 5 stars if it was actually adjustable as advertised. ... show more
