  • Dad bod approved but watch those “inside pockets”
Size: X-Large Color: Olive
Solid Tactical Jacket - Mostly Awesome, Minor Quirks Writing under wife’s account so if it sounds like she suddenly got into tactical gear, nope, I am her husband. I picked up this tactical jacket in XL (I’m 6’ tall, 200 lbs, rocking the classic manly dad bod) and it fits just right, not too snug, not too baggy. The material is surprisingly soft for something that looks like it could survive a zombie apocalypse. Comfortable enough to wear all day, whether I’m out skiing or just knocking around Denver. Pockets Galore: and I mean everywhere. Front, sides, sleeves, even the back. My wife especially loves the rear pockets, perfect for warming her hands when we’re out walking. It’s like a built-in hand-holding system. Now, a few quirks: Patches: Not sure what the deal is here. I’ve never seen anyone actually use these patch spots in real life. Feels a bit cosplay-ish unless you’re in a tactical unit or a paintball league. Inside “Pockets”: I say “pockets” loosely. Dropped my charger in one and it went straight through like a trapdoor. Landed on my foot. Ouch. Why not just sew the bottom shut? Feels like a missed stitch. Armpit Zips: Ventilation is cool, but a little mesh wouldn’t hurt. That said, my wife likes sticking her hands in there too, so maybe they’re multi-purpose. Bottom line: For the price, it’s a solid buy. Looks sharp, feels great, and it’s versatile enough for winter sports or weekend errands. Just don’t trust those inside pockets with anything that you actually want to keep. ... show more

  • VERY SATISFIED
Size: X-Large Color: Black
Perfect jacket for tactical or otherwise. Lightweight, not too thick or thin, keeps you warm even in freezing temperatures, repels water and snow, dries quickly. The size was perfect for me giving me the ability to move without it riding up from the bottom or the sleeves pulling up. You can cinch the bottom of the jacket tight to your body to prevent heat from escaping in cold temperatures. Very large side pockets. For a lightweight outdoor jacket, I would highly recommend, especially if you’re a hiker in cooler temperatures. ... show more

  • Definitely worth it, hopefully my forever jacket.
Size: Large Color: Black
So, proof to this review. I just bought it last week and put it to the test this past Saturday. My stepson had a TYFA championship playoff game this past Saturday here in Texas. It was 56° and a steady heavy drizzle or light rain. I was part of the chain gang holding the down marker so I could it use an umbrella. This jacket held up to its descriptions. It eventually got soaked, but I literally stayed dry and warm. I ordered a large. I am 5'7" and at about 198lbs. A bit over weight, and it's a but loose on me. But it's definitely comfortable. I love the pit zips because as I started to sweat, I was able to unzip my pits just a bit for better ventilation and no more sweating and I was still warm. The hood is great in both ways. I love the extended bill, it kept the rain off my face and glasses. And when thrown back, it sits flat, not all puffed out like most jackets. No, here are my downsides. It has plenty of pockets, I wish it had at least one internal pocket. But my phone and smokes stayed dry in the rib pockets 100%. Second downside. Since my jacket is a bit too big for me, the bicep pockets are a bit difficult to zip back up. I have to hold the cuff with my fingers to keep it tight and pull the zipper up. But that's not a defect in the product, just an issue with the size I ordered, so keep that on mind. 3rd issue, there were no instructions on how to roll the hood up and stow away. I had to watch the video for the product a view times to see how they are folding it. But once folded, it's a nice tick fleece lined collar. All in all great product, there is a video on YouTube where a guy has owned his for years and loves it. I definitely recommend. I'm going to order another one, but without the hook and loop patches for my wife. She loves mine as well. ... show more

  • Good jacket/wind resistant shell.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I purchased this coat as a wind/water resistant shell. I haven't owned a dedicated winter coat for many years as I find layering to be more comfortable and efficient. I live in a climate where winters frequently feature 15° F temps. Upon unboxing this jacket I was impressed with the quality of the material and the zippers seemed solid. I had purchased and returned another jacket that seemed to be of cheaper material with zippers that would certainly separate. I was pleased that this jacket was superior in quality and seemed durable. I am a male who usually wears a medium shirt/jacket depending on the brand. I ordered this jacket in a medium. The fit, sleeves and jacket length were perfect. There is enough room to layer a hoodie or fleece under the jacket without it being too tight. This jacket has a light fleece lining and hood with a bill and is surprisingly warm by itself. The jacket features a double main zipper that allows you to unzip the jacket upward from the bottom to make room or release tension on the jacket to sit, lift something or access a tool on your belt or inside your waistband. There are small pockets on the sleeves which at first I didn't think I would use but have actually come in handy. The biggest negative I have with this jacket are the two main vertical breast pockets. The lack of standard pockets almost made me return this jacket. I didn't realize how much I used/appreciated standard pockets on a jacket. The two vertical pockets are not really suitable for carrying anything and are not deep enough that I would feel comfortable putting my keys in them without fearing that they would fall out. I have zipped my cell into them but that is it. They are inadequate for sticking your hands in them for warmth. This jacket has a pocket on the back that has two vertical zippers that creates a tube almost like a fanny pack that conveniently holds a pair of gloves or other items with the space being about 6" x 12" square. I have never seen this feature on a jacket before. This jacket sadly lacks any interior pockets which would have been a nice feature. Outside the pocket issues I like the jacket and I am pleased with this purchase. I have been wearing this jacket on a daily basis. I hiked in it recently in freezing rain for about an hour and the rain did not penetrate the jacket eventhough I have not waterproofed it. The billed hood worked well. The jacket serves the purpose for which I purchased it. ... show more

  • Excellent tactical jacket at a solid price point
Size: X-Large Color: Dark Navy
We will be traveling to Scotland next May. I wanted a medium weight water proof hooded jacket. This jacket checked all the boxes and then some. Has a nice feel and is comfortable to wear. Unzipping the armpit vents kept me cool and when zipped kept me warm. I like the double zipper so that the zipper can be raised from the bottom up when sitting down. Adequate pockets but an inside pocket or two would have been appreciated. My wife thinks the fit and cut is flattering to my 5’10” 250 lb frame. Hood rolls up and can act as a neck roll. Arm length is perfect for me. I have shorter troll arms and many times sleeves are too long. Cuffs, hood and waist can be adjusted for fit. Excellent value for the price. This is exactly what I wanted and feel this is perfect for my needs for the weather conditions we may encounter. ... show more

  • Order 1 size up. Great value for the price!
Size: X-Large Color: Gray
Like many have said, this is an awesome jacket, especially for the price! My main intention with this jacket was to have a lower profile water resistant rain jacket that provided some warmth, but not SUPER hot. I'm not using this for tactical needs, just casual activities. This is a casual / utility jacket, not something you're going to wear on a fancy night out in downtown. I ordered an XL based on reviews, I'm normally a Large in jackets. I'm 5'11" about 225 lbs, have a bit of a dad bod right now since I have young kids, broad shoulders and still some muscular build, but the jacket fits well and I'm certain my normal Large size would be tight around the shoulders. There is room to fit a base layer under this jacket if needed in very cold weather (sub 40 degrees I'd say). It's not perfect (when the hood is rolled up it's a bit of a thick, awkward collar behind your next) , but for the price I'm not complaining and I'd def buy this again. It Would have been nice to have an inside pocket, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me, again especially at this price point. Lastly my main concern was the wrist straps. An older review showed cheap hard plastic cuffs, which I didn't like. But they must have improved this part of the jacket since years ago , as you can see it's a nice smooth velcro strap. Also the material of the jacket is techy and stretches a bit when you stress it, which was a nice bonus. Enough of my rambling, Buy one you won't regret it! ... show more

  • FREE SOLDIER Clear Winner in my Jacket search!
Size: 3X-Large Color: Black Gray
The FREE SOLDIER Men's Outdoor Waterproof Soft Shell Hooded Military Tactical Jacket is most likely the best Jacket purchase I have ever made . I am 6 foot 4 and have long arms. I had purchased another brand from Amazon only to find the XXL jacket to small. This jacket fits like a glove. The reviews on Amazon and You Tube were 100% accurate in that this jacket is warm and has tons of neat pockets and features. Material is tuff and stretchy. Will wear this jacket by itself and as inner layer for my winter coat making it very versatile as it is not over bulky. Coat doesn't smell funny and I am not worried about wearability. Been wearing the coat out in windy sub 30 degree temps. It breaks the wind great and is warm. Love the hood on it and the zip up on the neck. Again this jacket is a winner. The color of it grey and black goes with my other jacket perfectly. A WINNER. ... show more

  • It's OK...nice fabrics but missing some features.
Size: X-Large Color: Black
So I received this jacket last night and noticed it came shipped in a simple zip-loc bag. When I tried to open the bag, the zipper came clean off so I ended up cutting the bag open. This was a portent of things to come. The jacket itself was fitted about right (XL), with a soft, brushed interior and sturdy outer shell. The hood was spacious with an additional bill to shed rain and the collar rose up enough to seal the jacket well. The zippers all had little pull tabs and operated smoothly but seemed a little undersized and I felt like I might snap the metal tabs easily. The cuffs have both elastic and Velcro to reduce infiltration by the weather, and there are a couple of armpit zippers for added ventilation. A bonus feature is the large, exterior, double-zippered "kidney/butt pocket" on the back that allows storage of additional items. It seems lightweight (a positive feature) but after a minute or so of wearing it, it's apparent that it really holds heat in well. I can't speak to how well it sheds water yet. However...some features of this jacket are mis-represented: 1) Others have noted that the "zippered pocket" on the inside is nonexistent; it's literally just a flap of material (actually the OUTER hand pocket) with no sewn bottom that lets anything you put in it fall straight through. I suppose you could simply stitch the bottom shut and create a true pocket, but it still won't be zippered. It's like the girl who was supposed to sew that pocket in quit but the company just continued production/distribution without her (-1 star). 2) There are two mystery Velcro tabs on the outside/back of the shoulders which I presume is used to secure the hood. However, the pathetic little flap on the inside of the jacket's collar that looks like it's designed to attach to those fastener points and keep the hood folded is WAY too short and will not reach at all. The photo shows where the flap ends on the other side of the hood material and it clearly is not long enough to reach the lower fasteners at the collar line (although it can reach the upper tabs to partially secure the hood). Therefore, NO folding of the hood like the photos show; get used to it unless you fashion some sort of "flap extension" that reaches to the lower back tabs. Maybe I'm missing something here...(-1 star). Overall, I like the fabrics used in the jacket and the overall design even though some of the details fall short. The price is fair for the quality. I intensely dislike advertised features that turn out to be lies. I considered returning it but I can modify it (the inner pockets and hood keeper) to suit me. That said, this product gets 3 stars. ... show more
