I did a lot of research on parkas before deciding on the North Face McMurdo. This one checked all my boxes with regard to warmth, wind protection, waterproof and price. I had the opportunity to try one on before purchasing, so I knew they run on the large side. I usually wear a XL in shirts and Jackets. (6’3”-205lbs). But with this parka, the XL was too large around the abdomen and waist. The large fit just fine. I was able to put it to the test this morning in Minnesota. I was out clearing my driveway. The base temp was -23° with a 30mph wind dropping the “real feel” temp to -48°. The outer shell stopped the wind and I was toasty warm. I really appreciate the down insulation throughout the parka and the hood. This will be my go-to parka for when the temps are really cold for years to come. I highly recommend it. ... show more

The temperature has been between 3F-20F where I live lately and this jacket kept me warm. There are plenty of pockets on the outside and one inside left breast pocket with a zipper good for a wallet. The zipper is easy to hook up and does not snag like the Columbia jacket I used last year. Overall it does not feel heavy compared to other winter jackets I have owned. I can do without the fur like stuff around the hood. It's making my face itch and I don't see any advantage over other jackets that did not have them. My wife has a North Face jacket that is over 20-years old and it is holding up very well. It also has the appearance of being a cut above the rest, the same way that North Face along with Columbia and Lands End had in the 90's. the north face has lowered its quality standards!, previous years mcmurdo is better in quality, the 2026 model is missing features such built in hood face cover, no sleeve cuffs, no adjustable waist band draw, the fabric quality feels like paper Mache, it feels lighter, (probably less fill), the faux fur on the hood is buttoned on and has gaps allowing air to hit your face if its too windy, the older models it was zippered on, the pockets feel small, and dinky, this parka isnt worth the sale price i paid $280 + tax. look else where, i would give this parka 0 stars if i could, save your money and time and get something else seriously ... show more
