  • Buy!
Size: Small Color: Black
I bought four heated jackets. Tried them all on. This one by far was the best quality, price and style! Battery included too! I get lots of compliments on the style. As for the sizing, the XS is a good fit. I’m 5’6” 120-25 lbs and I can fit a bulky sweatshirt underneath and still feels comfy. I tend to like loose fitting clothing. I would say the XS fits more like a Small but again I like the oversize fit better. Some of the hoods look funny when you have them on but this one looks good and is shaped nicely. As for the heaviness… in comparison, it is thicker and warmer than the other ones I tried on… thereby, it is a bit heavy. I definitely recommend this jacket! ... show more

  • Loving this coat!
Size: Large Color: Black
I'm always cold and I absolutely hate being cold. I usually dread doing anything that takes me outside when the temps are below 65 and I avoid visiting my family in the midwest during the winter months, but this coat has me a little less sad that winter is coming. This review may be a bit premature ... I'll try to remember to come back and update in the spring ... but I wore my jacket tonight using the heating function for the first time and I'm loving this thing so much I decided to post a review now. First of all, it's a nice looking coat and appears to be well made. No loose strings, pretty sturdy seaming/construction, my zippers don't stick, although I noted another reviewer didn't love their zipper. Unlike other reviews, I didn't think it was particularly slim fitting. I'm 5'6 and between a size 4 and 6. A large fits easily over a sweatshirt without making you feel like a marshmallow. I would agree that the sleeves and torso length might be a tiny bit short, probably not visibly short, but I like longer sleeves so I can hide my hands inside the ends for warmth and these sleeves aren't long enough for that. The battery fits into the inside left front pocket and it's not terribly heavy. I didn't feel like it was bulky - it just felt like I had a cell phone in that pocket. As far as the heating function ... I charged the battery overnight about 2 weeks ago right after my coat arrived in the mail, but the weather hadn't really been cold enough to justify using it until tonight. The battery has been sitting unused and not connected to the charger for 2 weeks and it was still holding a full charge (another reviewer mentioned this, but the charger has a red/green LED to indicate when it's done charging - green is good to go). The battery has 5 small blue LED indicators to tell you the charge. I forgot to review the instructions before leaving the house and it took me 2 minutes to figure out that you have to turn the coat on by holding down the little button in the left collar/lapel area. And yes, it's a little odd to have an LED indicator on the collar shining the whole time the heating function is on (I was sitting in a freezing cold movie theater and felt a smidge conspicuous with the light glowing), but whatever. I flipped the collar down and that blocked most of the light. The LED indicator is red when it's in "preheat/warm up" mode or on high. As another reviewer detailed it will automatically cycle down to medium (white) after about 5 minutes in warm up mode. Medium is still noticeably warm. Low setting = blue. It was pretty subtle heat on the low setting, but the coat holds warmth pretty well, so I think it's probably a good setting since this coat is thin enough that you could layer over it for a long day outside in the cold. Super easy to change from one heat setting to another. You hit the button once to go to the next setting down and hold the button down for a few seconds to turn the heating function off/on. I didn't wear it long enough to test the battery life in any setting, but I switched it back and forth from high to medium to low to off at various points in time over about 3.5 hours and the battery indicator lights still had 4 out of 5 blue LEDs lit after that. Not sure if I'd count on that being accurate, but if it is, that's pretty solid for a heated coat that cost less than $150. Yes, it would be nice if all heated gear would run heating elements through every single part of the coat, but I haven't found any coat (affordable or otherwise) that has elements running front and back full length and front and back down the sleeves, too. I think this coat is a great deal for what it does. Besides, even with heated sleeves you're going to need heated gloves if you want your fingers to be warm ... I already purchased a pair of Flambeau heated gloves from Amazon so I'll be ready to face the cold! ... show more

  • Great jacket, battery not so much
Size: Small Color: Black
I absolutely LOVED this jacket last season! It kept me warm, battery lasted a few days at a time. Comfortable, felt great on me, only downside is the battery pack weighed it down a little bit. Pulled it out today and am trying to charge the battery…it’s been plugged in for over 2 hours and hasn’t charged at all. Kind of bummed, but will be buying a replacement battery. Really hoping I don’t have to replace it every year. **Update I left it charging for about a day and a half and it fully charged. Fingers crossed it lasts ;) Also, thank you to customer service for reaching out and giving me some more advice! Charge your battery every few months folks! :) ... show more

  • Good Overall, But Front Heating Element Could Be Improved...
Size: Medium Color: Black
As someone who is constantly cold, I was so excited for a heated jacket. As a jacket, even without the heating element, I really like it. It's heavy duty and thick, keeps me warmer than my expensive Northface jacket. I also like that the Ororo jacket is water proof. There's nothing worse than being cold but even colder because water has seeped through the material of your jacket, but that is not an issue with this jacket. But, this jacket is supposed to have 2 different areas of heating, the front and the back. I did test out both areas before I ever wore the jacket to ensure that they worked, and they do. I could feel the heating areas heating up when I felt them with my hand. However, when I wear the jacket, I can really only feel the heating area on the back. Regardless of the thickness of my clothes, I don't feel the heating element in the front. I have checked with my hand to make sure that it is actually on and working and it is, but I guess it's just not as strong as the back. This is pretty unfortunate and does make me reconsider purchasing any further heating apparel from Ororo. The back heating element does work to keep me warm, but having the front work would've definitely been worth the price I paid. The battery does last a while, but I mostly use it while I am entering/leaving a building, in my boyfriend's freezing car (with his seat's butt warmer on as well), or while on a short walk. It does take a while for the battery to recharge, so I may purchase a back up battery in the future. The jacket's settings are very easy to use. Even though there are three settings, I always set it to the highest. I was worried about the battery pack being bulky in the pocket, but I never even notice it. It's just like having your phone in your pocket. Overall, I do still love the jacket and will be wearing it a lot this winter. I just wish that front heating element worked as well as the back did. ... show more
