  • Very good thermal imager that works with both Windows PC and Android phone; can work with macro
Color: Grey-Android
This is my first thermal imager after FLIR thermometer. Il looks big on picture, but really is 56x27x12mm in size. It appears well made, housed in metal case and has USB-C connector. It can be plugged directly into the phone, but it also comes with USB-C to USD-B cable to plug into PC. The QR code in the manual leads to download of Android app, but one can find windows program FoxIR that gets the same functionality on Windows. It has resolution of ~0.1C and 256x192 sensor, good enough for reasonable resolution. I used it for home inspection and for analysis of PCB temperature distribution. The latter application requires ZnSe macro lens that can be cheaply bought on Amazon or AliExpress, I use 12mm dia, 38mm and 62mm focal length parts. With that, you can zoom in on 0402 PCB components, and I printed lens holder on 3D printer. This makes electronic boards troubleshooting very easy. If connected to PC without any software, it installs as a regular monochrome USB camera and is supported by standard camera application. IMHO, it is a great value for money. It would be also good if it came with macro lens kit, but DIY worked perfectly for me. I recommend it to others. ... show more

  • Awesome tool
Color: Grey-Android
I initially bought this camera because I got into building lithium battery packs, and wanted to check that nothing was getting hot under load (signifying a poor connection or inadequately sized conductor). Then I took it around all the wiring on my very complex sailboat, checking that under load nothing was getting warm - it turns out that one connection WAS getting hot because of a poor crimp that I hadn't previously noticed. I'm looking forward to using this thing on my house in winter to figure out where heat is being lost. The longer I own it, the more uses I find for it! It's a neat little unit, and feels very ruggedly built. The app works fine for me on Android. I really like how it colors the image to show the hottest point in any view, and labels that point with the temperature. My only complaint, as with many other reviewers, is that it won't plug directly into my phone when the phone is in a case. Sometimes I use a USB extension but I find this a bit cumbersome; other times I remove the phone case and plug the camera in directly. All said and done I'm delighted with this very useful tool. ... show more

  • works really well, I might be able to fine tune it
Color: Silver-Android
the resolution seems really good, this unit had much high IR resolution than others, some were 90x90 IR which seems low. it worked quickly with the software, no issues getting it to work. this is not compatible with cases of any type, the unit is designed to fit flush to the bottom of your device. I bought a usb-c extender that is about 3/8" long which allows me to use this with a case. I've only played around with it so far and I think the colors are relative to surrounding temp and I'd like them to be absolute so when I look at a 30C source, its the same color even if the surrounding is 0C or 50C. I'm have to play with that. I have not used it with a pc yet but I plan on it, I didn't even realize it was PC compatible when I bought it. nice bouns ... show more

  • Great Product
Color: Grey-Android
I purchased this to replace a similar smartphone camera that I had purchased from FLIR years ago. The other device was a constant headache, and the majority of the issues seemed to be related to the internal rechargeable battery that was very flaky and finally failed (not replaceable!). For obvious reasons, I am thrilled that the Foxwell doesn't have a battery, and it is able to fully function using the power it is drawing from the USB-C port real-time. PERFORMANCE: I use the thermal cameras for non-professional tasks such is detecting thermal leaks, moisture issues, troubleshooting electronics and other mechanical devices. In addition, when there is a nice temperature gradient with the outside, it can be used to image the layout and placement of framing inside exterior walls. I have found that the thermal camera has excellent abilities identifying very small thermal variations, the refresh rate is very good, and overall the resolution is excellent for camera in this price range. Other observations: The build of the camera is more compact than I was expecting with a metal exterior. It comes with an excellent carrying case. The Foxwell app is fairly good, with lots of functional options to support taking measurements Overall I believe that the camera performs at a minimum to all its stated spec's (unlike some knock off products on Amazon), and the build quality would imply that I should get many years of use out of it. ... show more

  • The Foxwell RT100 Thermal Camera
Color: Grey-Android
The Foxwell RT100 Thermal Camera. The camera works really well considering it is an entry-level Thermal camera. I'm impressed with the sensitivity and resolution. I did receive a bad one at first. It apparently had bad contacts in the plug and would only power up if pressure was applied to the camera in one specific direction. Close inspection revealed some really rough looking contacts. However Amazon was quick to make things right and the replacement works perfectly. 👍 ... show more

  • Good higher resolution heat camera
Color: Grey-Android
Had this heat camera for about 4 months and it has been working great. [5 stars from me] It is both fun to play with and also a useful tool. When playing around with it, I found a hot line going down the wall in one of our bedrooms and I thought it might be an overheating wire.. only to find out a hot water pipe went there so all was good. It makes some clicking sound sometimes and I was thinking it was failing to focus, but I found out that is normal operations. ... show more
