It does what you need for 95% of anything you might be doing. It's a basic vice, to hold things which it does well. It's built pretty sturdy. It didn't even complain when I wasn't watching and drilled into the base!! Still works and now it's a few ounces lighter ;-)

As others have said, first thing I did was to clean the vise of grease etc and then I filed the edges to remove the sharp burrs from machining. Works smoothly and is a good little vise for the money. Very happy with the purchase.

This is a well made Drill Press Vice. The operation is smooth and the jaws fit flush and square. Fit and finish is excellent. It is heavy enough that light duty drill press work would not require attaching the vice to the drill press. I would recommend to others and buy again.

This is an inexpensive drill press vise. It constructed of metal castings and is sturdy, but the final machining on it is very rough. As with other reviewers, I took it apart and trimmed it up a bit on my milling machine to make it operate more smoothly and with less play.
