    • Erratic Behavior In Zoom Session
I host a weekly round robin music group (for over ten years) and, since COVID, have been doing so on Zoom. My former DI, a Zoom H6, fell and broke. So I replaced it with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen USB Interface about three weeks ago. I am using Windows 11 Pro on a Dell G7 laptop. I have a Shure SM-58 plugged into the Focusrite Scarlett Solo and listen through headphones plugged into it. The Scarlett is plugged into a USB port on the Dell laptop. Ever since I began using the Focusrite Scarlett Solo, I randomly (or so it seems) lose use of either my sound or my microphone, or both. I have noticed that, at times, if I open Zoom Chat, I lose the use of my mic/speaker. I have also noticed that, at times, if I open my Songbook software, I lose the use of my mic/speaker. But those last two items could also be random. I have not yet tried another Dell G7 laptop. (I have a spare.) Short of a solution, what I would like to find is a method to troubleshoot this monster. ... show more

I've been using the Focusrite Scarlett solo gen 3 for several months with my Mac Mini M2 chip. I had great success, but saw the Gen 4 with more DB so I ordered it. I figured how easy it would be to swap out the Gen 3 with the Gen 4 and off to the races right? Wrong! After several attempts to get up and running I broke down and called\Waited 15 mins for tech support on the phone. Finally got someone and was told that the Sonoma OS 14.2 OS sometimes doesn't recognize the unit right , and to plug directly into my Mac Mini. I use a 6 way hub because the Mac Mini has limited ports so that wasn't really an option. Tech seemed in a rush, so I let him go and started unplugging the HDMI from the ports and reinstalling. Bingo the unit fired up and all is well Including a much clearer sound. Also you have to download another program to handle the Gen 4 so just know that. Anyhow It does sound better than Gen 3. I'm following up after spending time with this unit. It is definitely worth the few extra bucks for the quality of sound and dedicated head phone amp feature. ... show more
