  • Good quality tripod and fair price.
Eat is a good brand, for an amateur like me it is enough. The tripod has a good head based on fluid movement. It also has a horizon guide. Smooth movement, robust and strong head. Made of metal and good finish. Light weight, the release of the legs is quick.

  • I cannot put this tripod back into the case it came with
The media could not be loaded. This tripod works great if you have a standard-size digital or film or video camera. No problem whatsoever with my Nikon gear. I primarily shoot micro four-thirds format, and that smaller size makes the tripod more of a chore to use. Firstly, with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, or similar size, and a tele like the Olympus 75-300 mm, the gap between the top of the mounting plate and the bottom of the lens disappears. So, bring the plate all the way back (towards you), and still the lens rubs against the plate. Now, Corman has some screws and strange pieces of aluminum that you can remove from the bottom of the plate. This fixes the problem (don't lose these parts, you may want them for another type of camera). With the original plate screws installed, you also can't shoot 90 degrees up (see pic). With them removed, you can (also see pic). The video head has nice damping (see short video), and the pan/tilt also works smoothly (see 2nd short video - oops - Amazon allows only one video upload, so you can't see that - sorry!). The pic immediately after the short video shows the Nikon with zoom with plenty of gap between the lens and mounting plate, so you can easily focus manually or zoom. The pic after that shows the Olympus with no gap, so you cannot zoom or manually focus, until you remove the screws from the bottom of the plate. Other nice things about this tripod: it has thick legs with easily adjustable height. You can change the foot angle by pulling out the leg with the Corman logo on it. I've used the tripod for a few months now and it is sturdy and easily pan/tilts and adjusts to whatever angle you want. However, I cannot get it back into the case it came with. I have removed the center leg and the counter-weight holder and the pan/tilt arm but it still will not fit. I have reversed the orientation of the tripod so it is set up to shoot the ground. I called Amazon support and they finally found an unboxing video on Youtube that I thought would work. If you can unbox something, just reverse the procedure and you can box it, right? Obviously I am missing a step. The instruction sheet that comes with the tripod does not show what the tripod looks like inside of its case, nor does the Corman product sheet. It must be so obviously trivial that no one before me has run into this problem. So, as long as you are not me, this is a great tripod. For me, there must be a solution that I still haven't found. ... show more

  • Sturdy and Smooth
I'm not a pro, but I've started shooting short marketing videos for work recently, so I needed something to hold up a Canon EOS M50, a teleprompter sometimes, and whatever else. This tripod does the trick on a budget. The pan&tilt action is very smooth and professional-feeling, and the arm is nice and long with a good grip on it. The build quality seems sturdy enough for my needs - it mostly stays set up in my home office with some occasional travel. As others have said it's not the lightest unit in the world, but it does fold down and fit into its carry case fairly easily. The QR mounting plate is 50mm wide, so it's compatible with the Manfrotto 500 series. I was able to buy a generic replacement plate to permanently mount my teleprompter to. I do have a couple of minor complaints that may or may not affect its usefulness to you. First, the bubble level is in a position where you can't look straight down onto it. So I'm not always sure if I've leveled the tripod properly. Second, the monopod feature seems kind of useless. You have to remove the entire center column, including the bulky pan/tilt head, and mount it on one of the legs. This makes for quite a heavy monopod, which isn't useful to me - though it could be for others I guess. The instructions also weren't clear on how to do all of that - I kept trying to remove the head just below the ball joint, but you need to remove the small cap with the hook on it at the bottom of the adjustable column, then pull that up and out of the vertical adjustment clutch. That part then attaches to the one removable leg of the tripod. Anyway. A minor point on an otherwise good product. ... show more

  • While it isn't the lightest, it is exactly what I needed
I'm a wedding filmmaker who prefers shooting hand held or on a gimbal, but I was starting to find myself in absolute pain at the end of the wedding days. I decided to start shooting ceremonies on a monopod, but I was tired of my cheap $40 plastic one and looking to upgrade. This one caught my eye, and I'm so glad it did. The build is sturdy and well made, the conversion from tripod to monopod is super useful (although I will note, not quick). The head is pretty good, with smooth motion and springs that always push it back to center when loose. Overall, it is way cheaper than competitors while having all the features I'm looking for. ... show more

  • One major design flaw
The "shoe" that attaches to your camera is a unique design. You will be unable to use any other shoe you may have. there are pieces built into the mount head that fit into the shoe. In addition, although minor, is the screw does not have that little tag you can use to tighten the screw with. You need an allen wrench or screwdriver. Lose this shoe, you need another tripod. ... show more
