Description

Round and round she goes. Hi Ho! Cherry-O is the counting game in which players race to be the first to have 10 cherries in their basket. A spin of the arrow determines your fate. It will instruct you to pick one, two, three, or four cherries from your tree and put 'em in your basket. That is, of course, if you don't land on the bird or the dog, requiring you to take two cherries from your basket and return them to the tree. And try not to land on the spilled bucket or--you guessed it--spill the contents of your basket or you start over. Round and round she goes. Hi Ho! • GREAT COUNTING GAME!
This is a fun game that teaches counting to 10. I suggest putting each group of 10 in a zipper type bag to make setting up and putting away easier. 1 to 4 people can play this game at a time. Perfect for home and in a classroom as a center.

  • Classic Game-Enjoying the updated version
I used to play this game as a kid and my parents introduced it to my son. He loved it so we purchased this one for our house. I actually like the update. The old version only used cherries. The new version has different colored fruits, which makes it easier to tell whose tree it is. And there’s a puzzle element included for older players that is really fun. ... show more

  • Great for new counters!
Great game for littles learning to count! The picking of the fruit allows them to associate the fruit with the number they are picking. My 3 year old loves playing!

  • Where was this game when I was little?
My daughter's 4, and the only board game she's really played much of is Candyland. I never played Hi Ho Cherry-O when I was little, but based on the things I've read, it seemed like a safe bet. I mean hey, she has orange hair and loves dogs, so she was already interested based on the box art alone. We played this for a good 30 minutes the other day and she really enjoyed it, though she still hates losing of course... Hi Ho Cherry-O is easy to play and set up. Up to 4 people can play, with each person having their own tree or bush to pick fruit from. You have cherries, blueberries, oranges and green apples, and 10 of each fruit are on each tree. Players take turns spinning an arrow that will land on either a number, a bird, a dog or a basket. If it lands on a number, they take that many of their fruit from the tree and put it in their basket. If it lands on the bird or dog, the animal 'eats' one piece of fruit and the player has to put it back on the tree. And if the arrow lands on the basket? They lose ALL their fruit and have to put every piece back on the tree! The first person to get 10 pieces of fruit wins. Like I said, the game is very easy to understand, and kids 3-5 will probably get the most out of it, counting the pieces of fruit whenever the arrow lands on the number. It's a fun game to play, and sometimes a game will take longer than you'd think if you constantly get the basket or either animal. I couldn't believe it when I got the dog and bird 7 times in a row, and my daughter got the basket three times in one game, so close to winning each time, only to have me finally win when I started to get numbers. She wasn't too happy with that. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that the construction is on the wimpy side. Several people have complained about the game board being flimsy, and I have to agree, though I just had the game box hold the board so it was more stable, and we played without any problems. It's somewhat thin though, and I can see it getting all bent up if hyper kids use it, but it all depends on the people using it. You get 11 of each fruit piece- 10 to put in the trees and 1 extra of each, which is great of them to do, but I can't help but wonder if 5 extra pieces would've been a safer choice given how easy it is to lose things of this size. Just be careful when playing and keep checking to make sure everyone has their pieces and you should be good. What more can I say? I highly recommend this game and wish it were around when I was little. But noooo...I was stuck with the panic attack-inducing Perfection instead. ... show more
